    help a lady out :)

Do the wls surgeons offer the seminar discussing the surgical offerings, techniques, and question sessions? Is start with the seminar. That's what I did.

Is your weight loss surgeon morbidly obese?

The practice I go to are two women doctors. Both are at a good healthy weight. Not super skinny, but not fat. The nurse that weighs me and check me out first is bigger than me. There are a couple of them bigger than me.
  3. It's not too late and you can do it. First and foremost you need to follow your doctors orders. One thing that helped me when I slipped was that every doc is different. My doc allowed two shakes and a healthy dinner. Sandwiches would be semi close to a healthy dinner (closer than fried food for sure). Some docs don't require any preop diet. The closer you stick to your docs rules the more likely you'll have a better and smooth surgery. I didn't want complications so I tried hard to comply. Plus surviving this phase makes it easier to comply with the liquid post op diet. Good luck on the upcoming surgery.

    help a lady out :)

I started by finding a surgeon and attending one of their free mandatory seminars on the procedures they offer. This got me to think if I really wanted to go down this path. My surgeons officer did most/all of the footwork. Per your insurance do you have to see your primary first or even have an official referral of some sort.
  5. Many people have. Many of my doctors suggested/encouraged this surgery for me after struggling with infertility for 1.5 years and all typical tests were normal. There's a pregnancy specific forum somewhere on this site too.
  6. I am only 3 weeks post op too. I can feel it but I can't see it. This was one of my concerns too and I addressed it with my surgeon. She said that the newer ports are much smaller than the old ports. Be careful if you do google images you'll probably find a lot of older ports.

    What complaining got me...

Do you 'have' to get it tomorrow? I'm not advocating waiting on something that is urgent, but is there another facility that you could get an x-ray? I have crappy insurance - high deductible - etc. I've learned to shop around for the x-ray. My doctor's office (normal primary - not surgeon) has the capability and it's only $25 for a chest x-ray (two views or something like that). That includes a radiologist reviewing it too. If I'd go to the hospital, I think it would come out about what you're being asked to pay. Sorry to hear of the issues you're having. Where in Florida are you located? Do you have the option of finding a new surgeon doctor to monitor your fills? I'm in Clearwater and love my surgeon, but then again I have not gone through any fills yet.

    pregnant

I am just 3 weeks post op but I made it clear to my surgeon that part of my primary goal was for pregnancy. She said that when I get pregnant to let her know and she can reduce the fill if necessary. Vomiting is really bad on the band. If you can't keep anything down, you need to let your surgeon know so they can compensate now before things get bad. Congratulations!

    First Day Back To Work

I'm 3 weeks post-op. Today was my first day back too. Unfortunately it was the first day in jeans, sitting upright and against a desk. My port was making itself known as well. Ice does sound good except that I'm already cold, lol. My fiancé suggested a binder or spanx or whatever tomorrow. My surgeon had stated it could take a couple of months for the muscles to get used to the port. I hope you feel better soon Misty.

    Do you miss soda?

My problem is that I love my soda stream for just carbonated water. Flat water is hard for me to drink.

    When Your Port Pokes Out...

When were you banded? Like Lisa mentioned, you could have a low profile port put in. That was one of my biggest concerns getting this band. My surgeon said that the newer low profile ports help minimize that. I've also heard of some getting it moved to be below the muscle. It makes it harder for fills, but if you're at your goal it shouldn't matter as much. Congrats on getting there!!
  12. What kind of scale do you have? Some of the 'newer' smarter ones can measure your percent body fat and a host of other stuff. I remember I used to track some of the other numbers in addition to the scale weight. If the scale was stuck but I saw my fat decreasing that was a motivator to keep pushing. Also, maybe you should take measurements of your waist and thighs etc. That should decrease even though the scale is staying the same. If everything is stuck then that's when you should start to worry.
  13. I'm the same way. Only 2 coworkers know (not even my boss). One was because we go out to lunch everyday and I was about to start my pre-op diet and I knew she'd know something was up when I would be eating a lot less post op. The other person was one that works at a different facility and we've just been there for email support for each other through the years. Family - I only told my fiancé and my mom. He told his dad and I got upset with him. Then my mom told my sister and my granny. Who knows who all my granny told (she's a preachers wife). I was wanting to keep this private. I'm 3 weeks post op.

    3 days and counting!

Congratulations and good luck. You've probably read this by now from other people - but I survived the first week after surgery with a lot of walking, gas-x (chewables for me but a lot of people prefer the strips), heating pad on the shoulder and ice pack on the incision / port area. Let us know how you're doing.

Select the email option. In there it states email or username. I've successfully added people using my phones app that way. I'm kimk1999

    Alex, question? ?

Yeah I don't see all the profile pics just a handful of them. But that's the only image that I'm able to see. Even though I have attachments turned on in the settings I don't see any. Also, when I was adjusting my settings, I noticed to portrait lock option doesn't work either.

    Alex, question? ?

On my iPhone with the app I don't really see any pics except for the profile pic. I thought that was just a time saving (little/no download data) type feature.
  18. Thanks. I went and double checked my binder. They didn't mention that. I remember something postop being said but I thought that was due to the other pain killers. This is going on my list of questions for the doc. I'm not sure I could get through my tom without NSAIDs.

Nice!! How'd you score the free 1 month pass? New Years promotion deal thingy or from your doctor?
  20. Sorry to hear of the jerk doc! I'm only 3 weeks post op with the band. I have not heard of the no NSAIDs rule, is that more for the sleeve or did I miss that in my big binder of paperwork they have me?

Sorry for the multiple posts... My phone kept freezing and timing out with this app and nothing was showing up. Now I'm not sure how to delete the posts that went through.

    Periods?

That was part of my main goal for the lap band. I've been trying for about a year and a half with no success. After lots of tests and blood work my obgyn basically said that I needed to lose weight. I'm only 3 weeks out from surgery. My period would range from 28 days till 39 or more days. That's almost impossible to get pregnant with cycles like that. I actually started mine already and was only at 31 days. A very rare occurrence. This is a difficult road. I feel that all my friends and cousins are pregnant or have kids and that I'm the only one that doesn't have any. I'm already 33 so we are actually starting to look into fostering. I wish you the best of luck.
