Hi Georgia girl. My daughter is a medical transcrip for a company called Amphion. She works at home. Very flexable hours. They supply the computer and all equipment. She's sitting right here and telling me that 1st you have to know medical terminology. 2nd you have to be a very fast and accurate typist and 3rd you have be a good speller. She said to look at Amphion medical solutions to see if they noffer any training. (you can see why I don't do it)

A place for bandsters in their 60's
sfeiner replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I get my first fill Dec 11. I can hardly wait. I'm from WI, near Madison, just south of Wi Dells in Baraboo. Great place to live and visit. I've been divorced for 12 years. (he's an alcoholic) I live with my daughter, son-in-law, 2 gransons, 2 dogs (one is mine) 2 cats. I love living with them. I still work (RN) part time and am slowly trying to retire. I like my job but hate the long drive to work and hate getting up early. I had my surgery a month ago. Sharon -
Hi, It seems like most people feel pretty good after 4 days and very good after a week. You will have a few days of having a hard time getting enough calories and then probably be just right for about a week and then the hungries will hit and you'll be really hungery until you get a fill. Be sure you get 60 to 90 grams of protien every day. You'll do just fine.

i have around 1000 questions, help if you're bored!
sfeiner replied to ichatter's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you go to Obesity Help - Weight Loss, Surgery, Support Groups, Forums, Surgical Procedures You can find Drs that do it and how to contact them and everything you ever wanted to know about the band and links to all sorts of helpful places. Also places to order protien and other good stuff. Sharon -
Hi Teresita, If I were you I would post on Band2gether.com. They are much more suportive. There are some really nastY people on this board. I think for Christians, you will find a more loving, kind and supportive group there. I read this one sometimes when I have nothing better to do but some of the post sicken me. Yes, God is good all the time. Sharon

I'm watching this show and it's unbelievable what these people are doing to themselves. I guess it's just featuring the cheaters (I hope there are some people there who really want help) I'm wondering who is paying for all these people to lay around in this nice looking hospital and get waited on and then have fast food and junk food delivered. I realize they have food addictions but I can't understand why they are there for help if they are going to rebel all the time. Is anyone else watching?

I agree. What would nurses do without CNAs? A lot more running and lifting and clea-ups, that's for sure/ I've been a cna, an lpn and an rn. cna is the hardest. I' also an EMT. So I take my hat off to CNAs of the world.

I was told by Dr to have 3 meals and 2 snacks.

What Type of Multi Vitamin Do You Take?
sfeiner replied to ♥LadyBug♥'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My Dr. tells us to take chewable flintstones. One in am and one in pm. -
I have 6 kids, 4 kids in law and 13 grandchildren. I got so I hate Christmas. A couple years ago I started to buy everyone a 25$ gift card I buy couple each month . I have a dear dil that loves to cook so she has everyone at her house. My ex is there too and we all get along. It's so much better than when I had to buy a zillion gifts and cook all day and then clean for 3 days after. I don't decorate anymore either.

I have a 1 liter jug that I got because the proceeds were going to fight breast cancer. Didn't know I would like it so much. I keep it near me as much as can and uaually drink 2 liters a day. Keeps my hands and mouth busy when I crave something. Sometimes I don't even know I'm drinking and all of a sudden it's empty.

Nachos and pizza? I hope your post is susposed to be a joke. I don't want to be mean but don't you know that you have to eat healthy. Do you see a nutritionist? Maybe you should get a book on nutrition after bariatric surgery.

Well live and learn. Don't do it again next year. OK? You don't have to put yourself through that. You don't have to ever make another cookie in your life if it's not good for you.

I was also banded Oct 26 and have only lost 14. Maybe because my Dr starts us on mushies the day after surgery. I'm so hungery now. Just like before surgery. I'm getting a fill Dec 13 and counting on that to help.

Oh, so frustated and hungery. Haven't rad the article yet but will now.

Gas can be anywhere and extremely un comfortable.

Oh gosh, I don't want to break my grandkids trampoline!

I don't know if I should laugh or cry. It's a sad story but the way you tell it makes it funny. I can just see you doing stand up comedy some day. I had to go to a meeting at the local high school one night a few years and pounds ago and I got stuck in a desk. My body just seemed to swell after I got in it. OH, the humiliation!

Is Smoking bad for the band?
sfeiner replied to juliegeraci's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeons won't band anyone who smokes. They have to stop 6 mos before surgery. -
A place for bandsters in their 60's
sfeiner replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Gosh, I thought I posted on here but read them all today and can't find my post. I'm 67, 4 weeks post surgery, no fill and no restriction. I'm eating about the same as before surgery except for breakfast I'm having slim fast instead of the bagel I used to have. I have lost a little weight every week so it must be the breakfast. I can hardly wait for my 1st fill. -
band not working 7 months post op
sfeiner replied to pjrugby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you being careful that you don't drink while eating and wash the food through the banded part into your big stomach? Are you eating protein first and is your food thick enough to stay in your smaller pouch? And are you avoiding sugar? Remember, we still have to work at this. As everyone keeps reminding everyone else "the band is just a tool. We have to make it work. Best wishes...Sharon -
I just go and buy 22, $25 gift cards. Totally no christmas spirit.

Has anyone ever advanced post op food phase ealier than you were supposed to?
sfeiner replied to bparris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my banding done at a "center of excellence" and they have done hundreds without complications or slippage. I was started on pureed food before I left the hospital (creamed wheat and pureed cotttage cheese) I was told I could eat baby food and anything without lumps for 2 weeks, then soft foods as tolerated and advance to other things as tolerated. I still think everone should follow their own Dr guidelines but unless different surgeons have all got their own way of doing things I don't think it will really hurt much if you eat mushies when you are on liquids. Maybe they just want you to lose faster. Sharon
