If you get him out, be sure and get your locks changed. Also take care to change everything that is in both your names. Don't let him do something that will ruin your credit.

I'm not even at restriction yet but from all my reading on this board and others, I think you are a little tight and that's not good. Hopefully the more knowledgable will answer.

Well Rose. I am 67 and I got the band on Oct 28. Surgery went fine. They didn't seem to think my age was a factor. I weigh 270 after losing 15. I had one fill and didn't get any restriction. Next tue I get another and I sure hope it helps. Medicare payed and AARP ins picked up what medicare didn't . I never saw a bill. I wanted to lose weight because I ache all over, esp knees and feet, I'm short of breath, I need a CPAP at night, I can't even walk my dog! I just want a better quality of life.

the dreaded how many pounds have you lost question
sfeiner replied to Leena's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just tell people that I don't weigh myself. -
I agree with all the others. The longer you stay, the harder it will be to leave. Go now while things are still relatively untangled. Don't let yourself have a baby with this creep.

The I Hate Exercise But Going to Learn to Love it Thread
sfeiner replied to Lap_dancer's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Oh I hate it too. I sweat, my heart pounds and I get short of breath and think I'm having a heart attach and whatever part of the body I move hurts the next day. Water exercise is do-able but too far away. -
I hope you use sugar free kool aid. People mix proyien powder in crystal lite so I assume kool aid would work.

I have only lost 15 pounds but I think it was mosltly around my waist. It went from 52 to 48. But my big belly and waist has always been my worst problem as far as clothes fitting. It will be interesting to see where I lose if I EVER start.

Hi Bandster , I just read your whole thread today and I feel so bad about all you have gone through. I feel sorry for your brother too and I'm sure I would've made the same mistake and co-signed for him. I can't telll you how many times in my 67 years 'ive sacrificed to help someone else out and got bit in the butt for doing so.....But, you know what, I wouldn't change a thing. That's how I am and I like myself. If he gets his act together, you'll know you helped. About the gas: Be sure you aren't constipated, take gasx or something simular, lay off sugar and artifical sweetners, and make sure you aren't lactose intolerant. The worst thing for me is the sugar alcohols they put in candy etc in place of sugar. Blows me up like a balloon. I wish you luck and hope you feel better by now. Sharon

I have to be the biggest failure here!
sfeiner replied to happysilly307's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm an Oct 07 bandster too and I've only had one fill. It's a little No, you are NOT the biggest failure. I think a lot of the oct bunch are having problems. -
Thanks for the encouragment. I have about 135 left to lose. Right now I have no restriction and I'm gaining back so I need to know that there are better days ahead. Sharon

WOW That is incredible!

It's over 2 months since surgery and I've only lost 15#. I had one fill...worthless. In a couple weeks I get another. I sure hope it works.

comparison with gastric bypass patients
sfeiner replied to kbinaz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm wishing now that I wouldn't have tild anyone for that very reason! We tenacious tens seem to be a sad bunch right now. I guess we are all in bandster hell. I'm so disgusted that my first fill did nothing! -
Oh thank you thank you for the pep talk. I'm really beginning to have doubts about ever getting any restriction, much less losing any weight. Your letter is just what I needed!

I think we would go nuts if we tried to follow everyones instructions. Every Dr seems to have completely different ideas on what to do before and after surgery and before and after fills. I think mine is the least restrictive of any I have heard of. I started on pureed foods while still in hosp. I had cream of wheat and pureed cottage cheese and applesuase. I was told to eat babyfood meat. A jar at a time. It's not too bad with a little salt. And I could have as much slimfast as I wanted. (low carb type) I would suggest mixing powdered protien into other things. I even mix it in cottage cheese. NOT yummy. Good luck.

As I understand it, the water will wash the food into your large stomach and you won't get your full feeling.

My clinic recomends colace and benefiber. I find if I have artificial sweetner I don't need anything else! Kellogs makes some delicious baked bran crackers if you are at a stage where you can eat.

Good morning everyone, I love you guys. I don't post here much but always read everything and get so much inspiration from this group of faithful believers. Welcome Linda. God has helped you make a good decision. Better health ahead. Phyllser, soon you may be able to donate that scooter to someone else!

Bud, It isn't so much which hosp will accept medicare, it is what hosp. medicare will pay. The hosp has to be a "CENTER OF EXCELENCE" That's an accreditation they get for standards they meet in a field (in this case, bariatric surgery. Medicare will only pay for surgery at hosp with that accredidation. Obviously I can't spell!!! But I tried.

My Dr forbids NSAIDS, smoking, soda pop, and caffeine.

I smoked like a chimney for years and the 5th time I quit it took. Of course I'm addicted to food or maybe just to carbs. And I think I'm addicted to this site. If I spent as much time exercising as I do here I would be fit as a fiddle.
