What kind of cheap food or meals you eat?
sfeiner replied to vessa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How about maqking bean soup. It's very easy, full of protien and cheap. Just buy dry beans and follow the bag directions. I used to feed my family a lot of french toast. use cheap bread. You can use sugar free syrup for yourself. Beef stew is easy to make, esp in a crock pot. Stew meat is fairly cheap and you can add lots of veggies and some ff soup. -
You are doing really well at your weight loss. It's not unusual to be sore after a bad stick. Now you have to rest it and babY IT. sOON IT WILL FEEL BETTER AND YOU CAN GET ANOTHER FILL and start over. Good luck to you.

JDBU I'm not black and I agree with you. Glad you posted.

Yeah! I lost a couple pounds! It's the WW "way of eating" I'm doing with my daughter. I am so hungry. Can't wait for my fill next week. Now if only this crappy weather will co-operate!
-
Yes , I can swallow all 11 of my pills. I still don't have restriction even tho I've had 2 fills. Another one coming up next week. There are some I can break in half, some are real small and one can be opened and sprinkled on applesause. I also have a couple chewable vitamins.

pre-op making me crazy about taking meds
sfeiner replied to gdf18's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told not to worry about anything the size of a pencil eraser or M&M.I take 11 in the am and 9 at night and I;ve never had a problem -
Very funny! I can relate to most of those.

Things my life has taught me: Honey catches more flies than vinegar. If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all. Being a bitch doesn't pay. Your anger eats at you and doesn't affect the person you're angry with. Smile lines look better than frown lines.

Sounds like you are on the right path. Keeep it up. We will cheer you on.

You are a nurse too? So am I. I do private duty in a home for a 16 yr old girl with severe brain damAGE. I've been there since she was 6. Her parents never take off work for bad weather. It's a very boring job. I went there when the psych hosp. I worked at closed. At first it was nice to be away from the stress and I could put her in her W/C and walk around town. Now they live in the country with gravel roads and hills and she is too heavy to move without the hoyer so we are stuck in the house. She doesn't respond to anything except pain and has no functional movement so it does get boring. I would love to retire but the other nurses are LPNs and they need an RN there at least once a week to be case manager and that's me. So I'm down from full time to 1 day a week and some overnight if they go away. I eat more there during the AM then I do all day at home,,,,just out of boredom.

Those are good goals and it sounds like you are doing fine. I just ask for gas at the dentist and I love every minute of it...no kidding! That stuff is awesome! -

Please, both of you, join us on the sixties thread. We would love to have you there. One of us is actually 70 and I'm not far behind at 67. A couple of us are 69. You are not too old and don't let anyone tell you , you are.
-
But Vessa, you are only 26. These 60 yr old bones and joints just don't work the same as they did at 26. The very best exercise for us is warm water workouts. Un fortuniately (sp) I can't find a pool closer than 20 miles away.

Well darn, I did have to cancel my appt. Couldn't find a snowmobile! I have one for next week now. That's one thing I really like about the UW clinic. It's easy to get in to see someone. Yes we did get the fierce wind, along with sleet, dropping temps, snow and general misery. Today all the schools are closed but I had to come to work. Bummer!

Welcome to our site Nanjo. We are never too old to improve. Keep reading and you will know just what to expect by surgery time. Hope you get seen real soon.

Did anyone stuggle with decision of band vs. bypass?
sfeiner replied to janedavis's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My PCP was very much for the lapband for me and very against the bypass (for me) so I took his advice. -
Yes, I agree with Sades. Consider yourself lucky. Some of us starve before that first fill.

I found it helps to wet it with about 1 teaspoon of water at a time. -

Unjury...Who likes it and who doesn't?
sfeiner replied to tyme4change's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've only had the tasteless kind and I like it because you can mix it in anything. But I wouldn't go so far as to say awesome. -
New member, 7 months post-op & 149 lbs gone forever!
sfeiner replied to MickATL's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations Mick. You can be proud. -
I think it matters but I can't remember the timeline. Is there a bloodbank you can call?
-
They have one where I work. My hips hurt when I use it. I'll keep trying.

Are you dissappointed in your weight loss since banding?
sfeiner replied to wishin4's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Gene and everybody, Well for the 2nd time, I had to cancel a fill appt' because of this crummy Wi winter. Now I am scheduled for a week from today. Meanwhile I am loosing a little by doing WW with my daughter. I'm hungry all the time so don't know how long I can keep this up. I should get off my butt too. Yesterday we did a lot of shopping and my feet hurt so bad today that it's hard to walk. I wish we had a pool in town. Gene, I hope you get some good restriction. It doesn't seem like most people do with just one fill but some never need a fill at all so we are all different. "see" you later.
