Back to anger....I try to remember that the anger I am feeling is tearing me up while the person I am so furious with doesn't even know it. They aren't suffering my anger. I'm the one suffering. Do I want to suffer because of them? No way. I can either let it go or let them know in a civil way that they hurt me and how I felt when they did that, said that or whatever. Then I just have to decide how imporant it is too me. If it's someone I will never see again, what's the point of dwelling on it. If it's something I have to deal with on a regular basis I better confront them and tell them how I feel when they do or say whatever it is. Does that make sense?

You are such a wise man Jack. I wish I knew you in person.

I can taste the Saline after my fill
sfeiner replied to Tralynn222's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't think of any way you could be getting saline to your tongue. Actually all our body fluids are mostly saline so your saliva probably tastes just about the same. Maybe the imagination is getting a little over active? LOL -
I worked briefly in a nursing home many years ago and I remember that no matter what they fed the residents, they threw it in the blender for the ones that couldn't or wouldn't chew. They would put waffles, syrup and sausages all together....some very weird combinations. Anyway thats how I ate on mushies. Just threw whatever the family was having into the blender. I didn't mix it all together though. For extra liquid I used chichen broth for almost every protien and some of the veggies too. If I wanted more protien I added a scoop of unjury powder. I never felt deprived but did get tired of washing the blender!

I'm drinking this for Breakfast and it's yummy: 1 pkg of swiss miss diet hot coco mix 1 scoop of unjury unflavored protien shake up in shaker with 1 cup of Water mix with as much coffee as you want (I use a cup) heat more if needed

I really doubt if that's true because a lot of people have to fly regularly for their work.

Ya it's wierd for the rest of the world but for us bandsters, it's pretty normal. I find gasx helps.

Medic Alert ID or not?
sfeiner replied to anonemouse's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Did you know that EMTs (I used to be one) look for the letters ICE which stands for "in case of emergency". You can put all your info in envelopes in the car, on your frig, in your purse and put ICE in big letters so they can find it .. Also program ICE on your cell phone to contact a family member that knows all about you. -
I love Ginger Snap!

I would call it a mushy if you can mash it up with a fork.

HI jeanieb, Welcome to our site. I'm way up in cold snowy Wi. So glad to have you join our site. I'm another nurse, working 1 day a week now. Seems like 1/2 of lapbanders are nurses! I think we all learned to "eat as much as fast as we can because it might be hours before we get another chance!" So what is the temp in NM now? Oh maybe I would be better off not knowing.

I love brocoli cheese soup, but isn't it about half fat? Subway here has soup only in the winter.

Severe Restriction in the AM, No Restriction in the PM
sfeiner replied to Chrisann's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Same here! I'm wondering if I need a fill. I can get one in 2 weeks. But I have a horrible time getting my (crushed and mixed in sf jam) pills down in the a.m. What are you bansters going to do? I would sure like some decent restriction at night. -
I'm "tight as a drum" in the morning and "loose as a goose" at night so it was hard to answer. I kinda went by how I am at noon.
-
Welcome Suecab. It's so good to see so many people over 60 trying to improve their health. Keep posting your progress.

Baby food meats aren''t too bad if you salt. I wouldn't waste money on any of the fruit or veg though as you can buy V8, apple sause etc. Have you tried cottage cheese? Also peanut butter goes down pretty well. Good luck. Don't give up.

I wasn't finished but had to quit for a minute. I wanted to say that you DO fit in with this group. We have people with all kinds of problems. Not too many people who are doing great post on a regular basis. People tend to post more when they are having trouble. It doesn't matter if you have a band now or not. You are still a bandster.

Of course there is support here. I'm so sorry for what happened to you and I understand the mourning. Are you eating to comfort yourself? I'm sure that's what I would do because I still haven't learned better ways to comfort myself. Right now I'm depressed because it just keeps snowing and we are snowed in with bored kids and dogs. All I want to do is eat.

tenacious tens-what are your intolerable foods so far
sfeiner replied to bandster_1007's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't eat anything before noon. It takes me all morn to get my pills down with slim fast. Around noon I can only eat yogurt, applesause etc. By 3 pm I can eat absolutely anything. I'm hungry all aft and eat too much. Night time pills go down with no problem. I wish the restriction could even itself out! -
Thanks to all of you for giving me hope. I just am not losing...but don't have any restriction after 2pm. Sometimes I read that someone that had surg in Oct lost 45 0r 50 Pounds. Makes me want to cry! And all it does here is snow so we can't get out or go anywhere. I'm so bored and depressed today. Then my grandson comes with his Haloween candy that he had stashed away ond wanted to give it to me and I ate 2 Reeses peanut butter cups. That did NOTHING for my self esteem or mood.

Jack, It sounds so good. Can you be more specific..? How wide should the strips be

I just want to say welcome to the sixties forum from another nurse.

I hope that is the best book you ever read!!!!!

My clinic says that caffiene is a gastric stimulant which means it will cause faster digestion leading to faster hunger. That's why they say no-no. I still have to have a cup every morning. Of course my weight loss has been less than spectacular! I'm not goingg to blame the coffee though. I prefer to blame our 80" of snow keeping me inside most of the time.

Need a little support and encouragment
sfeiner replied to princess_sophie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My goodness Princess Sophie, that's what I call my dog when she's bossy or finicky. No actually we call her Princess Sophia then. Usually she's just Sophie. Hope you aren't insulted. She's pure cuteness. As for you and surgery, It sounds like you would be the perfect canidate. Please understand that it isn't a quick fix though. It can take forever to reach the point of perfect restriction (case in point right here).
