    considering lap band

You've come to the right place for information. Be sure to read all the informative forums. There is a poll somewhere on how ppl have done with their bands. The great majority are very happy but there are some that haven't worked out. It takes a lot of work and dedication. It's not a quick fix at all.
  3. Hi Tytrice, You will gets lots of help if you spend more time here. It sounds like you Dr isn't educating you on how to work the band. If you can't get it from him, try else where. And get a fill somewhere. You are wasting the opportunity to have your band work for you.

    Seventy or more????

Glad you found us Julia. Feel free to post with the 60s too since that gets more activity.
  6. Hi all you 60's, I also belong to another board, a much smaller one. It's Band2gether.net (b2g) Lap band Support Forums - Powered by vBulletin Nice group of people but only a couple in their 60s. They are planning a week end in a hotel (room deal 89$/ night) in Charolotte NC May 2-4. They are inviting any banded folks and families . They also have a campsite for folks with motor homes, campers etc. (I'm not about to drive mine that far) I wish some of you would go. I don't know if I can keep up to all those young people. They plan to party at night. I turn into a pumpkin at 9pm! Will some of you please check it out? If no one is interested, what would be the odds of some of our group getting together somewhere sometime? That would really be fun! I would love to meet you guys!

    Biggest Loser

I agree...gee it wasn't as though one of them was dying! I did admire Mark for saying he would leave. It wouldn't have been fair to see Roger go.

    Bumbed out

Well I would be bummed too. I think I would keep pestering until he fixed it....Or maybe say"if you DON"T KNOW HOW could you recommend someone who does?"

    New 60+ Thread

Hi Sallie, My little Sophie is maltese and bichon. I love maltese. I actually went to buy a maltese. The breeder had 2 maltese puppies and he had 2 puppies that were from a maltese Mom that he had breed to his new bichon male. I fell in love with Sophie. He called them teddy bears. I see a lot of little dogs called teddies. Somebody on one of the boards has 2 cute maltpoos. They are darling too. They are her avator. You may have seen them.
  11. Yes. Be honest about everything. I think a good share of us (obese ppl) have depression. The Docs know that. We've been self medicating with food for years. They kknow that.

I bet your middle name is Ann too. Well I'm glad you are scheduled and I hope the ins. thing gets straightened out. I finally found a place for Water work outs. Went this aft and it felt so good. Now tthat we're home I'm starting to feel stiff. I hate not being able to take NSAIDs Nice getting to know you. Keep in touch.

    New 60+ Thread

Is everybody hibernating? I miss you guys. I'm depressed about my lack of weight loss and the weather. Maybe I should work more than 1 day a week so I have more to do...but If I work more I have to pay taxes on my SS and I just don't want to give Uncle Sam any more. I need a change of scenery or something. I envy you snow birds. Can't wait for summer to go "camping". I am so miserably tight in the morning. I have a terrible time with my meds. At night I could eat a 5 course dinner! OK I'm all done whineing (for now). I hope you are all well and the pounds are just melting away:)

    Cant believe it...

Wonderful for you. Are you going to post pictures?
  17. I should qualify the statement about narcotics....He means just once in awhile for severe pain. Not on a daily basis.

    Question

You really don't have any restriction until you get enough fills to reach your "sweet spot". I'm not there yet! I bet you're losing inches with all your exercising. Are you measuring?
  19. WOW...I think saying he's an idiot is rather idiotic on your part. I'm an RN. I totally understand why. Has very little to do with thinning your blood and everything to do with the fact that NSAIDS cause damage to the stomach lining...known as ulcers. The faster they go through the less damage. Being stored in a pouch for awhile would be dangerious. But hey, go ahead, help yourself to all the NSAIDs you want. Just don't tell other people they can safely take them.

    Help me LIE!

I would go for the hernia. It might even be true. A lot of us had hernia repairs at the same time.

I would make a new lable with a skull and cross bones and put it on that nutella or whatever it is jar! Then you can imagine hanging those krispy cremes on the outside of your body. Look at one and say where di I want that one to go? Do I want a bigger butt a bigger belly? Maybe here under my arm. You know thaT'S WHERE THEY ARE GOING TO END UP. dO YOU LIVE ALONE SO YOU CAN THROW OUT ALL THE JUNK? iF SO just do it. tODAY IS THE FIRSWT DAY OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! aND FOR LONLINESS, COME TO THIS BOARD AND POUR YOUR HEART OUT. wE;RE HERE FOR YOU. oH BROTHER, i just looked at the screen and see my caps lock was on. I'm not going to retype!

    Hello from Wisconsin

Hi Shadow, I'm from Baraboo which is just south of the Dells, about 40 minutes from Madison. Do you live anywhere near? Are you buried in snow like we are? I'm so sick of winter. Can't even get out and walk! On the bright side, it can't last much longer. If you are close enough to Madison the UW program is excelent.
  24. Aleve is nasprosyn and my surgeon says it's the worst.....to never ever take it. The other NSAIDS are for "special" occasions only. My Dr would rather have me take a narcotic than NSAIDs.

    question about when to eat.

Did you just have surgery in the past few days? If so you might have to eat (or drink) at regular intervals even if you don't feel like it. If you are months post op and aren't hungery, just be sure you get your protien in and vitamins and fiber and fluids. V8 is good and v8 fusion too.
