Hi Markie, You didn't say which sharon you were addressing (there are at least 3 of us) but I will answer. Yes, they pre approved surgery. I don't know about the overnight stay. My Dr said that I might go home the same day but He would see how I did after surgery. I don't think he would say that if he knew medicare wouldn't pay....and he is very up on insurance and medicare. He runs the support group for the bariatric clinic and I've heard him answer hundreds of insurance questions. Anyway I had to stay because of low 02 levels so I'm not 100% sure Also I don't believe medicare requires the 6 mos diet but maybe your surgeon does. Hope I've been some help with my wishy washy answers. :crying:

Just throw anything you want into your blender, magic bullet or food processer Thin it down if you have to. It should be thin enough to run slowly off the spoon.

Finally approved and have surgery date

Pre Op Diet Experiences
sfeiner replied to Gordon C's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Gordan, I think most of us have to do that 2 week diet before hand to "shrink the liver". I agree that it's probably partly to get you used to eating a certain way. As far as yogurt, you are the first person I have heard of that was told to just eat yogurt. Many of us were put on protien drinks and some on clear liquids. Yogurt sounds better to me. But being realistic, you could shrink your liver just as well if you threw in some green veggies and lean protien. After surgery it is important to stay on liquids or semi liquids but I can't imagine why it would be important before. Now I'm going to get all kinds of flack from other bandsters for saying that. I'm running away:) -
I think she is feeling left out of your brother's life. Some Moms just can't let go. Sounds like you are doing everything right. Hang in there.

I'm so sorry for your loss SElaine, Could you join ww to keep the wt off?

oh, wait now....only coffee? How about a protien for breakfast? The salad is fine but add some protien....gumbo is fine but how about some fruit for desert? don't forget. you want to be healthy, not just skinny. Can you join WW for awhile to get back on the health track?
-
I consider myself tight because I can't eat solids. But I have no problem drinking a protien shake or slimfast and a cup of coffee. Since I didn't have any solids to wash down I slowly drink at least 2 glasses of water before lunch.

Feelings about being FAT.
sfeiner replied to staindgal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Staind, I would strongly recomend WW. I lost 2 # a week doing it years ago. Problem was that I moved from the area, staRTED a new job and gained it all back plus 30 more. But it's something you can do now and maybe later have LB if it doesn't work or if you just can't keep it up. It's a good, very healthy way to eat. -
Struggling with Liquids Two Weeks Post Op
sfeiner replied to aliwatt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I should tell you that I still think you should follow your own Drs advice. He might sew the band in differently or something. But don't worry about what you can't undo. -

Poll - what causes you the biggest problem to get down?
sfeiner replied to Boysaway's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I answered this before my 3rd fill and said I could eat everthing. Now it's a month later, I've had another fill and things get stuck. I just can't handle bananas and chicken. Afraid to try bread. I could eat a whole box of crackers, popcorn goes down fine and so do nuts. It's kinda crazy isn't it. -
Referred to behavioral mod classes before surgery.
sfeiner replied to Angelsma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally think it would be wonderful if we all had behavior modification classes. The band still needs a lot of changes in behavior and attitudes and the classes would sure make those changes easier. I think they just want to be sure you will be sucessful. -
Starting to think I chose the wrong program...
sfeiner replied to Sue40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you are getting an excellent work up and will probably get excellent care. The people that don't have work ups are the ones who end up with problems down the road. I believe the centers of excellence that medicare pts go to have about the same program. I know you are in a hurry but remember, It took a long time to get in the shape you are in. It's going to take awhile to get it off too. If you want a quick fix, go to Mexico and then try to find fill Drs and emergency help and education afterwards. -
I'm losing weight - why do I feel down?
sfeiner replied to Maincat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Steve, Could it be that you are losing your self identity.? If you have thought of your self as a "portly gentleman" for many years and now you aren't, you might feel a little lost. Crazy as it sounds people see themselves and identify with a lot of unhealthy things Like the smoker, the fat girl, the sickly person, the soldier, etc. When they have to give up their self image, even if they hated it, they grieve for it. Does that make any sense to you? -
I think .u are feeling like everyone in bandster hell feels at times. I think some exercise might cheer you up. I hate to cook too. What did you do before banding? Maybe you could eat frozen weight watcher or some thing simular for one meal. It seems most people have one meal of snacky things like string cheese and fruit or cottage cheese and fruit or breakfast cereal. There are so many things you don't have to cook. Maybe someone could start a "I hate to cook thread" and we could tell what we eat.

Well now I've lost a grand total of 18#. In all fairness, I was able to DC my diuretic and doing that gained at least 4# so I have probably lost about 22#....but I'm going by what my scale says to avoid confusion. Yesterday I went to the dentist with a mild toothache and came home minus my best chewing tooth, They had to send in my partial toget that tooth added to it. Now I can't chew at all. I am real tight in the morning so I have to take most of my meds at night and just have slimfast for breakfast. At night I have very little restriction except for chicken. Sometimes I am hungery but can't get anything down. I'm not sorry I got this band though. I'm thinking I will get a tiny fill next tue and that might do it.

Hi Gordan, Look forward to getting to know you. I don't think there is anyone else here from Scotland (I may be wrong) Hope you can tell us some interesting things about where you live in addition to keeping us informed about your lapband progress. Good luck with your surgery.

One week post op and feeling dizzy
sfeiner replied to ailbhe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really push fluids. This happens to me too. I thiink our BP are going down a little fast for our bodies to adjust to. Your Dr may have to adjust your BP med. Meanwhile you can keep it up by drinking lots more. -
Won a trip to Vegas - Scared because have never flown
sfeiner replied to *susan*'s topic in The Lounge
I'm not afaid of flying but I'm afraid of being crowded in with lots of bodies. My greatest fear is being in the middle of a 3 person row. Esp. if they are strangers. Tranqulizers don't help a bit. They just make me dopey. I like trains much better. Guess I'm not much help. But I have heard that you are many times more likely to get in a car accident than a plane crash. Maybe that will help. -
Well I'm going to throw de condimints out of de frig!
