Well, walking out of walmart at the beach w/ my twin sister and niece. It came up going to the car and it was a big bubble. My sister freaked! Meeting my twin sisters new beau, he took us to a Japanese steakhouse...you know where they cook in front of you. I got up 5 times during dinner. He leaned in to my sister and asked if I had diarehha. hahahah Now? I ate supper at the sink. A few bites, slime...a few bites more...slime some more. Right down the garbage disposal. salad is so good I have to have some every once in a while!

My guess is...average now with a low of 6, and a high of 20k... Average is 13k. I paid 8 total that included everything including a seperate fill doc who did 2 fills and one unfill when I hit goal.

Oh, forgot to add.... yes, to "h e double toothpicks" to patient care....that's not what medicine is about...it's a business. So, don't like your provider....don't use him. Money talks more than people know.

You sound just like my teenager did after she got braces. She was so excited to get them and a week into it...she was crying and screaming to have them removed. Well, I didn't, of course. 18months later she's very happy with the results. Thanks for sharing your story. It's very common for a ONE STOP shopping for the band to go wrong. Pay the surgeon you want to do the procedure...but Lord don't give money up front for aftercare...you'll lock yourself in. No, pay the surgeon. Then find someone to do your adjustments. You should only need a few visits...I needed 3. 2 fills and 1 unfill. I'm so happy I did it this way. How many of you buy a car and then ALWAYS go back to that dealership for service forever? When JiffyLube is so much cheaper and more efficient? But when things go wrong...you need a dealership, right? Then that's fine.

Follow your doc's instructions. But mine said hot cocoa for the rest of the day. But the next day is normal. Good luck. -
Help....The scale will not move!
VegasGrace replied to Banded08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Geesh! not you, but me. I didn't lose my first pound until 10 weeks after surgery. And I am happy with my success....but you lost all that weight w/o an adjustment and you are thinking somethings wrong? Reality check! You are doing great and better than expected....anyone that loses even a pound BEFORE restriction is doing something the band isn't supposed (as in made) to do...be grateful. -
I've exceeded my goal by 5-7 pounds. I had an unfill of .3cc to go to maintenance. I'm at a point I gain up to 2-3 pounds, but that comes off in a few days. Back on...then off. And I'm eating regularly. So I think I've hit the end of my weightloss. I did it by allowing the band to do it's job. I didn't fight it nor did I try to bypass it.

Yes, make a list of any questions....bring in articles from magazines, photos, etc. Also, take notes...so bring a notepad and pen. Usually there is a q and a session...you don't want your questions to be personal...just general. When you have your initial appointment that's where you can ask personal questions. You want to know how their practice is going? Any debt/forclosures? Are they married and if so...how is that going?

Don't let that doc touch you again! IF you do....you would not ever be able to sucessfully sue...be made whole. Basically it's like leaving a tip for a bad haircut. Don't do it and get a second opinion RIGHT NOW from another, independent doctor. Good luck and keep us posted!

waiting for life to start
VegasGrace replied to nat36's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your life has already started and you are entering a new chapter/phase of it. My life is the same as it was a year ago...but I don't have meds or feel yucky in my skin....but my life is still the same. Good luck. -
I need support, but mom wont let me have it
VegasGrace replied to maddymoo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You aren't going to want to hear this... Listen to your mother. You can't go wrong by doing so because you are promised if you obey your mom...you will be ultimately protected. And yes, it is her fault you are overweight. She should have done something when you were just 5lbs overweight. Wether that be intervention w/ doctors or whatever. But that doesn't mean she was a bad mother. I have a daughter who is overweight at 12...and yes, I am fully responsible. And on the flipside, my being banded has helped me get a grip and change my lifestyle. And since the lifestyle of the family is usually the same as the lifestyle of the mother....well, you can see how now my 12 year old is losing like a pound every two months. Not much but it's something and at least it's no gaining anymore. Love your mom. Do what she says about this surgery and don't mention it to anyone. Your family should be your source of strength right now. If you have a best friend...your mom knows of...ask your mom if it's okay to tell that one person. Good luck and keep us posted. -
Yes, I would do it again. I wish I could have had RnY but my bmi wasn't high enough. Total costs for surgery, meds, aftercare has been less than $8,000 and that's w/ no insurance.

Yep...I started a thread a while back. Had gum, swallowed gum, ER and under a general to retrieve it by GI docs. I was having convulsions as my body was trying to throw it up...but it was stuck. yeppers...no more gum for me!

Good job! Congrats on the weightloss!

OMGoodness! Yes, it so happens to me...and out of the blue. I thought it was the acid/fluids, etc that come from sliming...as I do it frequently. food allergy would be appropriate...but it isn't in my case. It happened once when I ate 2 bites of toast and jelly. But eat it later in the day...no problem. It happened once when I drank orange juice...later in the day is fine. Kel, if you find out...come back to this thread and let me and everyone else know what it is.
-
Yes, it does go away. I went through ketosis after getting restriction. It's gone now. But I still have bad breath...that's the weird part. I drink juices and Mt. Dew so I can't be in ketosis anymore.

I've rushed through the mushie phase
VegasGrace replied to healthyagain's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask your doc...for sure. But I was on regular foods by a week out. -
If a few days of PB and sliming causes a slip...then I'm done for! I pb and slimed almost every day since getting restriction after my 2nd fill. I still slime from time to time eventhough I had a slight unfill for maintenance. If you have a good surgeon, you won't slip. My band has been thru the ringer and is just fine. Good luck and don't worry too much about it. The makers of the band know how someone pb and slimes...and even vomits. They knew this when making the band. It's meant to withstand this....to a point.

Post op diahreaah? (Don't know if I spelled that right)
VegasGrace replied to ctaylor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sure...it happens. POP, post op poop. I am on maintenance and haven't pooped right in a year! When the body goes from tons of food to barely nothing...it goes hay wire! Started Alli this morning in hopes the side effects will help assist me. -
Hi I'm considering lap band surgery
VegasGrace replied to cindonmill's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi and welcome. Obesity isn't for everyone. Weird statement, huh? WLS (weight loss surgery) isn't for everyone. But if you are having issues with your weight and it's affecting you...you are a candidate for WLS if your bmi is high. Only you can decide if this is right for you...not your spouse, mom, sister, children, etc. Not even your doctor. This has to come from you. Do the research about weight loss. If dieting and exercise aren't working, consider WLS. Look at the different types and procedures. My twin had RnY where the stomach was cut and attached to the intestines bypassing most of the stomach and small intestines. She is fine...size 6. She still has to watch what she eats. I had lapband. I, too am a size 6. And I still have to watch what I eat...but moreso than she. She eats way more than I do w/o gaining a pound. I eat a normal meal and gain a pound. So there are differences even on maintenance. Good luck and keep us posted! -
I need help...I am not losing weight!
VegasGrace replied to bandstertobe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow! Look at you! Good job! I didn't lose my first pound until 10 weeks after surgery. (6wks a fill-no restriction, 4 weeks later a fill- restriction...no other fills still to this date) So for you to have lost what you have...you are way ahead of me! Get the adjustments...you'll get restriction and you'll KNOW the band is working. Good luck -
Previous weightloss surgery
VegasGrace replied to themiddlechild3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good question but I don't know about banding after staples. I know someone who had a RnY about 15 years after staples. She's a size 6 and has maintained with the RnY. -
Good question, and I don't know the answer. I believe it can shrink...but am sure it take ages for that to happen. Ever been sick for a week or longer and not be able to eat much....but then when you are feeling better you try to eat a regular meal? The stomach tightened/shrank...that's why it takes a bit to be able to eat regular again.

No chance? Seems like she does. I wouldn't vote for her, though. Any person who 'allows' their husband to do what he did....and still remain.... that person would not make a good president or commander in chief. But that's my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own. Huckabee...what a surprise! With the bad judgement he exercised and other people were hurt (the criminal he let go and then more crimes were committed)... nope. Not going to be president in my book. Romny...everyone seems to be voting for him around here...but not me. His state was one of the first, if not the first to have gay marriages. Nope, not a president for me. McCain and Obama...I know nothing about. And watch them two be the ones!
