Lots of trouble yesterday morning - my first PB's!
VegasGrace replied to MamaJava's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
PB? no burping here. Welcome to slime country! You will find this tool very helpful in your lapband journey. Sliming will prevent something from getting stuck. Weird, sliming doesn't bother me anymore. That's actually my trigger to let me know to stop eating....just as soon as I feel it. -
Hey hey...could this be? Restriction? Let's hope so. It took two fills for me. Just remember, if you are not able to hold down food and/or it's too bothersome for you, get a slight unfill.

I never ate a lb. of M&M's because I was hungry
VegasGrace replied to jayme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I laughed when I saw the name of the thread. But after reading it, not what I thought. If you never ate a pound of M&Ms because you were hungry.... you will now! For a time, M&Ms was the only thing that would go down...peanut M&Ms that is. They've gotten me through some dark times. But look at me now! -
Unfinished Lap Band Surgery?
VegasGrace replied to pandagirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pandagirl, just visiting this thread to see if you've gotten to the bottom of the real issue. Was the technician drunk? Did the doctor drop your band on the floor and it broke? Something happened, indeed! -
Diet? I don't drink diet. I do miss Pepsi from time to time. Even like Grape or Orange... I drink Mt. Dew now.

Need Help With Things that get Stuck or hard to digest
VegasGrace replied to RealBTuna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, it happens to me too. I will have better luck w/ 3 fries if they are not skinned. Even fruit...no skin. -
Glad you wrote in. Dr. Huacuz implated the device incorrectly?
-
Inamed does not vary. It's 6 weeks after surgery. Then 4 weeks later for the second fill. Docs can vary but the recommendations don't.

Pre-Op liquid diet question
VegasGrace replied to MsHansy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Liquid. But what you are wanting is a diet...not just liquids. Grapefruit juice w/ green Beans and broiled chicken...that's what alot of people use to get weight off...QUICK. I wouldn't worry about the weight gain a bit. So what you gained 6 pounds during your grandmother's passing. That's not going to stop a doc from doing surgery. -
When you have a craving what do you do???
VegasGrace replied to ebonie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Satisfy the craving. -
Slammed with a huge fee 7 days before surgery
VegasGrace replied to jujubee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope. I'd take my business elsewhere! The surgeons fee is covered by insurance and you only have to provide your copay...not $3500. Any money you've paid to them thus far I'd get back. I'd also contact the insurance company and let them know of the extortion. -
Seems like I have been sick constantly since surgery
VegasGrace replied to purplepeggy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I get sick maybe once a year...and that's not every year. And it only lasts a few days and that's it. But this year... I was banded in June and have had the flu twice, pneumonia once, and colds like you wouldn't believe. Since our bodies are deteriorating...that's what losing weight is to the body...since we are attacking our bodies, our bodies are conserving energy and expending it to stay alive...not much room to fight illnesses or keep them at bay. But it's so worth it! I'm a size 6/8 now. -
Well, if you were new you would have gotten a 2cc for a first fill...but you've had the band a while....your doctor is doing this safely with your history. Don't waste your time or money on any test or anything. Just go back in for another fill. Once you get to 2.5 - 3cc....that's when most get the restriction. So get to 3 and if you still don't have restriction...do the barium swallow test.

Carnie, Oprah, Kirstie....Whoopie....who else can be added to this list of those who publicly lose weight then gain it back.... The pressure has really been on them.

Airplane after surgery
VegasGrace replied to jujubee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, quite okay. May 9th is about the time of your first fill schedule. If it were me....have it done when you return. All that fruit you'll want to eat and if you get restriction before ....you will be miserable. Have fun. Aloha -
Doctor Doesn't Require A Pre-Op Diet...
VegasGrace replied to Angelyco's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 week preop diet is not normal...in my book anyways. Mine was 2 days...same as other procedures when the innards will be tinkered with. 2 days is all that's needed to ensure any food is digested. Those who give a longer liquid diet is just for some other reason...not surgery related. Of course, this is my opinion. -
Will this happen? I pray so.
VegasGrace replied to PeytonsWater's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hope you can get insurance to cover it but if not, don't let that stop you. If you want it, make it happen. -
I was on regular food by weeks end. When learning what foods you will be able to eat, and not eat, you must eat something...a tiny bite, chew well. Then walk away. After a few minutes, have another bite but walk away. Soon you will have a comprehensive list of things you can eat and things you can't. But don't try to eat something new w/o testing it first. Big trouble can happen. If something gets stuck, just let the esophogas and stomach do their jobs. It's not like you are going to die or anything. But if it gets really uncomfortable, just drink something...fast gulps. The Fluid will mix with the stuck object and either push it thru or give it something to carry it back up. No vomiting...just lean over the sink and let gravity take it from there. Good luck.

Hi, I came here to ask a few questions...
VegasGrace replied to Brad's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's as safe as it can be. There are always risks with any type of procedure. Hear the one about a child getting his tonsils out in NC died...the gas ignited. Or the one about a tooth pulling that resulted in death. Things happen, that's for sure. But obesity kills. Any patient has to look at the risks w/ a surgery and risks w/o it. That's what I did and a year later...well, I'm a size 6/8 and feel as good as I ever have. No more blood pressure pills, no more anxiety over my looks, no more snoring, no more winded going up a flight of stairs, etc. Support your sister, as this isn't easy. -
Confused about CC's and fills-my doc used water to test
VegasGrace replied to tinaf's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Why .5cc for a first fill? MONEY! yes, comeback business. -
I eat out more than anyone on here, probably. Daily sometimes...but it's not what you think...not like whole meals...as that's a thing of the past. At lunch my daughter took me to a diner. I had Coke and a cup of soup w/ crackers. Had about 8 bites, 6 crackers. This weekend in Vegas I hit 3 buffets a day. Woo hoo! I slimed it up, of course because it's just too much food. Sweet potatoes are my #1 thing I can eat w/o incident. Soups are okay. Crackers/cheese...are a good thing as anything cruncy will go down. Burgers/tacos/pizza/salad....I have a cup nearby to slime up in.

Unfinished Lap Band Surgery?
VegasGrace replied to pandagirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't buy that for one minute!!!! Laprascopic would be choice...but he should have went in and made an incision thru that fat he claims his instrument wouldn't go through. Something else happened! I can promise you that. -

I started taking Flintstones vitamins. Even on maintenance I don't think I eat enough vitamins/minerals. But I'm eating enough calories/carbs/fat as I'm maintaining well. Have noticed the scale went down another 2 pounds. I don't mind it...but just don't want to lose too much more weight as I'm happy with where I am.

Want to stop acid reflux? Don't eat after 4pm. This will give your body time to either digets the food or expell it. But either way, by 9pm you should be able to lie down w/o issue.
