Aussie Aussie Aussie, Gold Coast sleevers

Hi, I had a RNY Gastric Bypass with Dr Jordaan, I was to be sleeved but due to complications with my gastric band, and reflux, I decided upon the RNY. I was done on the 8th May 2014 at Pindara. As an RN I'm a little particular when it comes to my surgeons and I can honestly say, I do believe he was my best choice. Last week (Thursday) I was at a stage of struggling to get even my tablets in, I called, spoke with Stephanie and told her what was going on, it was late in the day & within 30 mins he called me and said to come and see him on Friday morning. After I explained what was happening he booked me in for a gastroscope that afternoon. He was on call at Pindara, and after several emergencies he wasn't going to leave me the way I was feeling during the weekend, so he and Dr. Schlimmer made sure I got done. It was 9pm before he got to me, I didn't mind, emergencies take precedence, but he would check on me when he was able to. I had a stricture and he has called me daily since to see how I'm going. You CAN'T go wrong with Jorrie Jordaan... FANTASTIC gentleman, and surgeon! If you'd like to chat feel free to PM me on FB Sheryl Hawkins -

May 2014 RNY/Bypass Post Op Support Group
Sherylnkent replied to Purple Iris's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi all, Thursday May 8th I has my Bypass, I came home on the Monday the 12th. Seems here in Australia our Drs keep us in longer than in the US. I couldn't imagine coming home on day two! 1st night home was an awesome sleep, last night I turned over & Far Out! It took me ALL night to get comfortable again and then I woke up feeling exhausted and sore like I'd gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson! But, I've managed 3/4 cup of warm boiled water and 3/4 Mug of coffee. ???? -
I'd just like to experience one more orgasm. I'm guessing the lack of an orgasm is due to medication ie anti-depressants. I have a wonderful hubby who tries EVERYTHING! Helping myself doesn't work either... So is an orgasm important or should I be happy with just the touchy feely thing?

Attention ! Australian Sleevers

The Palazzo Versace is awesome for high tea at $45, just order an extra pot of tea or coffee of choice for $7 as the high tea is rather large but very decadent. Great for an lunch/afternoon tea, they also have a day spa, and The Golden Door Spa is also just 500 metres down the road too. Awesome places! Mantra Phoenician in Broardbeach is lovely, great day spa too, plus loads of cafés and restaurants in the area. Your choice of ALL food types and all close to the beach or air conditioned mall. Nice place to just sit and people watch ☺️ Just wish I had my mum to do this with, but I LOVE to do it with friends and all within an easy budget. Hope it is of help, I love living on the Gold Coast ???? ???? -

High tea at the Palazzo Versace is something all mums and daughters should do... Quiet reasonable at $45, just order an extra tea or coffee of choice for another $7 as the high tea is rather large, but absolutely decadent! As for a nice and not to expensive place to stay, the Mantra Phoenician, great spot with a day spa and loads of cafés. Located at Broardbeach... I love living on the Gold Coast & make sure when we have visitors from overseas or interstate we do something delightful. Just wish I could do it with my mum... Hope this helps ???? -
Depression/Anxiety and Maintenance
Sherylnkent replied to cookie2012's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hear you all on this! I've been big/fat ALL my life even though I was really active. I was a nurse until I got breast cancer then my 18 year marriage ended, got back on track, worked mental health and then something less stressful, a Phlebotomist. Then 2.5 years ago I was forced into retirement at 48 with a broken back and neck due to some F@@k wit running into me! I met a man in that time, married and thought life was perfect. Oh, I had the band put in to help with weight loss for my back. Now, I find I am SO depressed. Nothing I do seems right, I'm in constant pain with my back and neck, I've just had shoulder surgery also re the accident, yes I'm on anti-depressants, but no matter what I do I can't shake this cloud, plus, I'd really love to have an orgasm... Nothing's working... Sorry, TMI -

Hi All, I'm currently banded and am really considering the sleeve. I see Dr Jordaan on the GC from Surgical Weightloss Centre on the 17/01/14 and have to admit I'm a bit on the nervous side. I've had trouble with my band for a long time, and the feelings of not being able to eat one day and then eat the horse and rider the next is not a good weightloss regime. I've not been able to eat meat other than mince with loads of gravy (great for the hips) in what seems like forever, so following any kind of sensible food plan is useless! All very disheartening actually. I broke my back and neck in a car accident 2.5 years ago and when the regurg happens my back goes into spasm making me feel miserable. I've not been out to eat in months, who wants to have soup when everyone else is eating lovely food, then have to make sure you know where the loo is, plus the head in a public loo is less than comfortable... Sorry TMI Anyway, I'd love to hear from anyone in regards to the sleeve and more so if you had the band first, the good, bad and the ugly ???? -

Hi, I'm on the Gold Coast looking to at band to sleeve revision. Tired of this weight going up and down, the vomiting and holding nothing down one day to being able to eat the horse and jockey too the next with a band. I have an appointment with Dr Jordaan on the 17/01/14, excited and nervous and am in NEED of support -
Ummmm.....constipated
Sherylnkent replied to ineed2dothis4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unsweetened apple sauce works a treat. Gentle! I was an oncology nurse and patients on chemo get terribly constipated, that is what we suggested. When I became a bandit, I got constipated on the mushy, then with the protein... It still happens, APPLE SAUCE gets me going, so if I've not been by day 3, a cup of unsweetened apple sauce is my remedy ... Ahhhhhh :-) -

Hi, I was banded back in 2009, almost got to goal but then broke my back & neck in a car accident. Hence my band had to be emptied, they couldn't risk me vomiting. Back on my feet again & looking forward to getting back on track. I'm almost back at 100kg, so I'm hoping to get some and give some motivation close by... SO Gold Coast Bandits, how about it? :-S
