1. I had my gastric bypass on September 8, 2014. HW was 279. I'm 5' 7.5" tall. My current weight is 151 lbs. I look great and feel fantastic. This is the best decision I've ever made. It has changed my entire life.
2. Thanks! I've reached my goal now and I'm even a couple of pounds under my goal and that is where I seem to be sticking without much fluctuation, so I'm staying with it. Anything I would have done differently? Knowing what I know now, in the beginning I wouldn't have obsessed as much about every single pound. I wouldn't have checked the scale every single day, and I would have started the gym a little sooner than I did. I should have worried less and enjoyed the ride more. I also wish I hadn't started buying clothes so soon because now I have all these size 12s and 10s to get rid of on top of all the bigger sizes because now that I'm done I've settled into a size 5/6. So, that's the main things I can think of. Good luck with your surgery, it will change your life!
3. Thanks! I'm down to being just 2 lbs from goal now and super excited!
4. Thanks Kacie, I can hardly believe it myself sometimes

Sept. 8th & 9th Gastric Bypass surgery.

I'm six days out today as well. I'm drinking tiny sips of water all day every day but I doubt I'm getting anywhere near 64 ounces in. I'm barely able to eat or drink anything else. The protein shakes are so super sweet I can't stand them anymore, and when I can drink them I barely get in one or two shakes a day! I had yogurt twice yesterday. I get Isopure unflavored today and I really hope it makes a difference because I'm worried about not seeming to get any nutrition. Since I started the 10 day pre op liquid diet up to today I have already lost 20 lbs.

Sept. 8th & 9th Gastric Bypass surgery.

I'm four days post op now, I've been home since Wednesday night. I'm drinking tiny sips of water all day and night, and I'm sick of these sweet shakes already. I ordered some unflavored Isopure protein powder that should be here Sunday and today I'm actually trying a few ounces of strained fat free soup. I've lost about 15 lbs since beginning the 10 day pre op liquid diet up til today. I'm still sore and have a terrible sore throat when I swallow.

Sept. 8th & 9th Gastric Bypass surgery.

I can't believe it's tomorrow!! I'm starting to get a bit nervous, how about ya'll? Mine got moved up from 10am to 8am because whoever was before me had to cancel. I have to be at the hospital at 6:30 am! This is day ten of my liquid diet and I lost 8.2 lbs I feel good about that. So I go from liquid to no liquids after midnight. I'm mostly packed and I have my husband and my cousin/best friend to be with me the entire time, plus my mom and aunt will be coming to see me. I think I'm ready. I"m nervous as I said, but I've been waiting years for this and it's finally here!!! Good luck and speedy recoveries for all of us :-)

Sept. 8th & 9th Gastric Bypass surgery.

Hi! My gastric bypass surgery is Sept 8th! Glad to find you all, I'm excited for this journey and glad to be able to keep track with everyone here.
14. Hi everyone!

My name is Pam and I just joined this forum today and thought I should introduce myself. I have recently made the personal decision to have lap band surgery and made my first appointment yesterday to go to a personal seminar that the doctor I've chosen holds. My lap band surgeon will be Dr. Garth Davis in Houston, Texas. You may be familiar with him from the learning channel show called "Big Medicine". I've been watching the show for awhile, and my aunt had gastric bypass a year ago and looks like a different person. I have had up and down weight fluctuations all my life, and I am tall (5'9") and people never believe how much I really weigh. I carry most of my weight up front in my belly area. I recently had back surgery and have not been very active at all and I am at my heaviest weight ever. I'll never really be able to do the type of aerobic, vigorous exercises that alot of people do, and I love to cook (and eat too! ). My husband is a chef and we spend alot of time in the kitchen trying different things. I kept telling myself that I just needed to buckle down and lose the weight, but it's not working for me. I'm 40 and married to a wonderful man and there are so many things I still want to experience in life, but I am always tired and uncomfortable from dragging around all this extra weight. It's time to make a change. I am familiar with this surgery, but there are a ton of things I am sure haven't occured to me yet and I decided I should start here with other like minded people who are going or have gone through this already. I am sure I will be posting lots of questions in the future.
Sorry for the long post! Glad to be here though

Anyone see "Big Medicine"?

I just watched that episode about Dr. Garth's sister too. I was really shocked that she had to fly all the way here to Texas to get help. I live a little north of Houston and I am having my first seminar visit with Dr. Garth next month. I am nervous and excited too, not sure if I can get approved though. My BMI is 34 so it looks like I'm right on the borderline of being able to get this approved. I have some health issues though so I'm hoping that it is enough to get me approved for the surgery.
