OMG!! I cannot for the life of me stay away from sweets! I really had no problem and I was low -carbing but as soon as I start PMSing I need sugar!!! I just finished off a piece of cake. How in the world was I able to even eat that? I feel crappy and I don't want to do it again. I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue and how they take care of it

Okay so according to the scale this morning I'm 2.7 away from my first short term goal of -25 lbs. I have been stuck in the 230s for what feels like forever! Yesterday I saw 231.0 but it was midday and I had already eaten. Today I just woke up and haven't eaten yet... I weighed at 227.6! Awesome! And yes I weigh almost every day... Don't judge, you know you do it too! It helps me keep on track. Anyways... I think it's lying to me! I haven't seen this weight since pre-pregnancy with my angel which was 2 years ago! Idk

I feel like the scale is lying to me!
Wendydarling19 replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
thanks! At the end of the day I go by the scale because I know the certain weight I want to be. That's just what works for me. It keeps me in check to weigh almost every day. I don't get discouraged I just use it as I guide. My clothes are fitting much nicer now too! But years ago when I lost weight I had a hard time serif that and believing the smaller sizes because I still saw myself as fat when I totally wasn't! The number on the scale tells me it's working because I can't see it on myself. Idk it's weird lol. I know it fluctuates though so I absolutely take that into consideration -
I would ideally like to lose half my weight
Wendydarling19 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Currently I'm 250 lbs. ideally I would like to lose anywhere from 100-120 lbs which is close to half of my weight. Has anyone done this? I need some encouragement. My surgery is on the 23rd of this month... Hope I'm not setting myself up for failure by this goal. -
I know ill get a ton of mixed opionons on this but whats your opinion of low carbing?

I too am a bandster. I would really like to see my first short term goal of 25 lbs down by the end of March...which is another 6 lbs away. I don't think thats too much to ask for. Yes I weigh and measure but I dont trust measuring as an accurate way since you can never measure EXACTLY the same place you did before. I have always been dependant on the numbers because when I lose it seems to show, for some people it doesnt. We will see how it goes when I start exercising though. My opinion may change. As of now, I just did a keto-stick and I am on the borderline of moderate and heavy ketosis...woohoooooo!! To me that is exciting to see! Now I know I am burning fat and not muscle : ) hoping to see those 6 lbs melt off! I have always wanted to stick to low-carb for longer but felt so darn hungry. Now with the band I dont have to worry about the hunger : ) awesome! -

I'll tell ya I'm a big baby when it comes to pain and I took the pain killers 2 every 4 hours until I ran out (about 4 days). On the fifth day I went back to school and still felt a bit of pain and discomfort so the Dr gave me another rx for pain meds. The pain wasn't extreme at all. The first two days suck but on the 2nd day I was able to shower witht the help of hubby. The gas pain was the worst out of all. The only way to release the CO2 is to move around because unlike regular digestive flatulance, our bodies have no way to just get rid of that gas unless we move around and excercise and metabolize it. -
Just curious about stomach growling with the band
Wendydarling19 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay so everyone's stomach growls when they are hungry. I'm just curious if this ever goes away with the band. I'm not saying I want it to go away and I'm not saying I don't want it to go away I'm just wondering if it does the more it is adjusted. -
Diets we used to be on, and why they didn't work

Atkins- Started to lose close to 20 lbs then weight loss stalled... Found out I was pregnant with my angel baby. There went that! I'm actually getting back into the low carb high Protein and fat deal because that's kind of what my NUT recommends... So we will see. Slime Water detox- I had to drink 5L of some nasty lake slime looking water that tasted like baking soda... Um no thanx! Take Shape for Life by Medifast- I lost 17 lbs on this and it was my last venture. Eat 5 of their small meals daily and 1 "lean and green" of your own and lose. I was always effing hungry and when I realized I could be spending the $400 a month on better things... I decided to do so and get the band! Raspberry Ketones- $50 for a bunch of nothing. Thanx Dr. Oz! Low cal- no more than 800 cal a day... Dropped 20 lbs then gave up because I was oh so hungry!!!! -

I know it's personal but I told everyone about my surgery and choice for WLS because I'm proud of my decision. Yes some people weren't so supportive and I put them in their place! It's everyone's decision weather or not they want to tell people and hopefully you will find the courage to tell everyone and bypass (no pun intended) their negative comments! -

As an NJ native and constantly seeing pictures of him and media of him, I have to say he looks great! And if 100 lbs in a year isn't successful I find that sad because some of us only have 100 to lose! How can he not "keep going" does the band just stop working one day!? He may still be considered morbidly obese but only a few more lbs and he won't be! -
Has Your Spouse Benefitted From Your WLS?

My boyfriend is trying to gain weight while I'm trying to lose. In all actuality it's not as bad as it seems... Really it just means high protein meals for both of us and hopefully soon exercise as well! -
You don't have an appetite because your stomach is swollen. Enjoy it now because your appetite will come back and weight loss may slow a little bit. You definitely have to walk walk walk around the house to get that gas out. The gas is CO2 pumped into your body, its not like normal digestive flatulance so it cant escape that way. The only way for your body to push out that CO2 is to use it up by moving around. Also, taking deep breaths and blowing out really hard can help a little bit.

Just curious about stomach growling with the band
Wendydarling19 replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's okay for no definitive answer I'm just curious. Mine does also get super loud and I often burp from it. I just can't help it! I really only eat now when my stomach is growling ( or at least try to) -
I weighed in today at 233 a total of 17 lbs in 4 weeks! 8 lbs from my first short term goal! I was also filled today for the first time with 3ccs so I'm hoping to have a little more restriction.

Feeling a little bit discouraged-vent
Wendydarling19 replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't weigh every day. And while I appreciate the thought of "getting rid of my scale" that is simply not possible. I'm not going to go 4 weeks without knowing my weight. Weekly weigh in will keep be on track way better than 4 week weigh in will. -
I haven't posted in a few days but I'm feeling a little bit discouraged already. I lost 15 lbs the first two weeks and nothing the past week. I am trying my best to eat the way my surgeon recommends which is Protein and a little bit of veg. Lots of fluids (low or no cal) i try my best to go with low carbs. I am just so anxious to get to my first short term goal of 25 lbs down because I have it in my head that I will believe that the band is working once I see that number. I havent been that weight in years so that is why I feel that way. In the past year I fluctuated between 230-250 so I would just really like to see 225 and that is only 10 lbs away! I realize I that this is a journey not a marathon and that I didn't put the weight on in a day and rome wasnt built in a day and blah blah all of those cliche things. That still doesn't stop the mentality that I and I'm sure many other people have. I just want to see that its working! I want to see that i didnt do this all for nothing. I'm sure I feel this way because I have been discouraged with other "diets" before. I am trying not to "diet" but just to eat better things...and of course less of these things. Anywho...I have my first fill on Friday so maybe it will help a bit. I'm not expecting much of a difference though but I suppose we will see!! And please no negative comments. I don't tolerate rudeness. I am simply venting and I believe this site is a very good outlet for that and a very good support system. Thanx!!

Feeling a little bit discouraged-vent
Wendydarling19 replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My first fill is on Friday thanx the good lord! I totally understand what you are saying. It's just hard to know I went through the surgery already almost 4 weeks ago and the scale isn't moving. It's discouraging because I have lost quicker on some diets but after said diets I gained the weight back so I need to think of that too! I need to realize it will work once I get the fills it's just hard to realize it because I'm not there yet -
I had a "friend" on facebook say "how did you get insurance to cover cosmetic surgery?" I tried to keep my cool and explain how obesity is a disease and its certainly not a cosmetic surgery as it once was categorized as. She basically laughed at me and told me "I wonder if I can get insurance to give me a tummy tuck". This was all on facebook so a few true friends jumped in and said "sounds like someone is jealous" Damn right they are!! She ended up unfriending me which kind of upset me but better off in the long run. I dont need that kind of negativity.

Weight loss stall so early into the game...feeling let down
Wendydarling19 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So my first 2 weeks I lost 13 lbs... Now I have not only completely stopped but gained a lb. I'm on solids now and the only thing I could think of was that I only lost that other weight because of the liquid diet. I am trying to put myself back on soft foods because I'm afraid the solids are too much for me right now and also causing a gain. I don't feel too much restriction but I'm positive I'm not over eating. I would like to lose 25 total lbs by the end of March which will be 2 mo out for me. My first fill is scheduled for the 21st. I am so upset though ugh! What am I doing wrong? Any tips on how I improve? Idk if I'm just overreacting... I thought heavier ppl lose weight quicker in the beginning. I eat mainly proteins and try to watch sugar/carb intake the best I can. -
