It's been 10 days since my surgery. I have lost a total of 12.2 lbs. seems fast to me. I'm not complaining but it makes me worry that it's too fast... I don't know. I know it's easier in the beginning to lose because "heavier people lose quicker" but wow that's quick! I have it set in my head for some reason that I won't believe it's working until I lose 25 lbs... Because that would be a weight that I haven't seen for 2 years. 12.8 lbs until that small goal is reached. Hoping I make that by the end of the month! This is so wild though... I'm melting

I am not yet banded but will be by the end of next week. I know it will be some time until I can eat solids so for now I am researching food ideas. I don't have much time to cook so I plan to pre-prepare most of my meals for the week. I love my crockpot and have noticed that it makes any meat so juicy and tender which I can only imagine is much easier on the band than dry meat. Any thoughts? Also, recipe ideas would be nice as well!! Thanx

Banded 4 days... Liquid phase is killing me!
Wendydarling19 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm very frustrated and hungry :,( I am on liquids and I just keep feeling hungry no matter what I consume. I know this is a short time in the long term goal but I just wish I could at least be on puréed right now. I can feel that whatever I eat is going right through. As it should because I'm only on liquids and have no restriction in my band yet. I'm just venting. A lot of it is head hunger but this is rough! I guess it's also good because it means im healing well and the stomach swelling is going down. -

Incsision sites itchy and puffy

My incision sites are itchy and puffy. I still have steri strips on 3 of them because they wouldn't come off yet. I'm more puffy underneath those. I put A&D on them and that is what made them puffy... I'm not usually allergic to A&D. The itching is insane! Should I be worried!? -

Wendydarling19 replied to Srock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded two days after you. I'm on solids already because my doc is speedy Gonzales with everything in this process but even I'm hungry on solids... Because mostly its just cravings. My first fill is the 21st... I can't even tell you how bad I want that day to come -
Lump undneath incision site?
Wendydarling19 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel more pain under this incision than the other 4. I also feel what is like a very slight tugging sensation. I wondering I'd this could be my port or is this something I should call the dr about? Oh and unrelated to that I have a sharp pain almost near my ribs by my stomach. None of these are new pains... I have had them all since surgery (Jan 23) they are just uncomfortable. -

Little restriction with solids
Wendydarling19 replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been following Carolina girls advice and noticed I do begin to burp a little bit when I'm eating and stop even if I don't feel "full". I know we aren't supposed to feel "full" so I take that as my sign to stop. -
Little restriction with solids
Wendydarling19 replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I will try to pay more attention to my body to see my. "full signs" the burping happens when I'm done eating but I will see if that happens at all or a hiccup these next few times. I'm afraid I'm eating too much. I'll just try my best to control my portions until I'm in the green. Starting low carb today!! -
Cleared for regular diet 1 week after surgery
Wendydarling19 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just went to my post op appt today. I had my surgery a week ago yesterday and my dr cleared me for regular foods and just said chew very well and make sure the food is very moist. Sounds good to me but I thought people go through stages.. -

Brand New Bandster here Sparta NJ

My step mom was banded by Dr. Strom in 08. She looks fabulous! The only reason I went for a different Dr. is because I work at Morristown Medical Center and I chose a Dr. out of their Network. My recovery is going pretty well... Today is my first day going back to school... Then Friday back to work. -
Any January Surgery Bandsters?
Wendydarling19 replied to msirish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr told me only 1 week. I do have my pre-op appt with him before I am supposed to go back to work though so we will see what he says about it. My job isn't quite as demanding as most CNA jobs... Some nights I just sit for hours on end but then again some nights are so crazy especially when I'm alone -
Brand new bandster here Thursday the 23rd was my date. I'm still slowly recovering. Just excited that t gas pains are almost all gone! Still very fatigued and sore though! Feeling a little dehydrated today though so I need to make sure I get on my fluids! I am on fluids for at least a week which is getting kind of boring! Just happy I ate some tomato soup yesterday that was to die for!! I have lost 5 lbs but I know that's just water weight and not really counting it since I'm in healing mode (I'll count it if it stays off). Just wanted to say hii to everyone so happy to be on the other side!

Any January Surgery Bandsters?
Wendydarling19 replied to msirish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes traditionally we do but I work in postpartum and don't really lift anymore. (used to a lot in geriatrics). I'm worried about bending when I have to help patients change underwear -
Atkins Eaters...Need Suggestions Please :)
Wendydarling19 replied to WshfullyShrnkng's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm confused as to why people are dissing Atkins when it's pretty much what the NUTs tell us... Protein then veg then carb if we can handle. That's the basics of Atkins. I dont necessarily plan to follow Atkins to a T just low carb and sugar... Once I'm out of the healing phase that is -
Banded 4 days... Liquid phase is killing me!
Wendydarling19 replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Definitely have been eating a lot of sugar free popsicles and fudgesicles. I guess I was concerned about the amount of times I was eating the liquids. I just had some cheddar soup with a little garlic powder and it was decent. Very very filling! I think it's all in my head. Most of my "hungry" is head hunger from thinking about food. Definitely comfortable atm after that soup I had. I honestly don't think I could handle anything other than liquids right now anyway my tummy is still in a bit of pain from the surgery -
That must be rough for you Betty to have to do the 12 month thing. My pre-op journey was 3 months start to surgery and to me that was so long! It's def worth it though! The liquid diet is just a wrinkle in time compared to the whole journey. Soups keeping me sane

I don't believe so. I have only lived here for about 2 years though. We do get hit worse with weather though since we are so high up in NJ!
