  1. Hello, my name is Sandra, and I live in the UK. I had my band on 23rd Oct 2013 (3 days ago). Everything went really well, apart from the sore shoulders afterwards, which seem to be easing up a bit today. I really enjoy reading everyone`s story, and have gotten a little bit of useful information and tips from here and there. Are most of you in the States? It seems like everybody`s post op diet differs, I am on clear liquids for 3 days, then onto protein shakes and soups (no chunks) for 1 week, and then onto purees. My follow up visit is not for 6 weeks. Will keep you all updated with my progress :-)
  2. I haven`t eaten out yet, but what about looking at the childrens menu? or having a starter as your main?

I had a tummy tuck in 1990 and have just had a band fitted. But as you can see, the tummy tuck was not recent

    Got my surgery date today!

I was told to book 2 weeks off work - suppose everyone is different. Good luck for the 14th.
  5. Hi, I too, had my surgery last Wednesday. The worst was the gas pains in my shoulders, the right one subsided a couple of days ago, and today is the first day that I haven`t felt anything. I have not really had much pain from my stomach, just a slight "tugging" sensation. I drove into town on Sunday, but shopping just tired me out, and I had to have a good rest the next day, but on Tuesday I was fine again, and went back to complete my shopping! I have been following my diet sheet to a T - and in a week I have now lost 6lbs I look at my meals and think "how will that fill me up!?" but eating slowly and small spoonfuls, I surprised myself at how full I did feel, and sometimes didn`t even want the mid-meal snacks I`m allowed. I hope that this keeps up, as reading some stories on here can be quite scary, and hopefully my experience will show some pre-ops that it`s not all that bad, and that everyone has different experiences...Also I was not scared of going to sleep, and even walked to the theatre.

    Hello Everyone

Today is my last day of full liquids, tomorrow I can have purees, so I`ve stocked up on a few things and today I`m going to have a cooking fest, making a few different meals and stews, then I will blend them, and I have bought lots of small Tupperware boxes, and I will measure out meals into them and then freeze them - looking forward to getting a few flavours in my mouth, not so bothered about not having something to chew.

    Newly Banded

Hi, I too am entering into day 3 post op. I am not feeling too much soreness, but the gas pains in my shoulders were horrible, Thankfully, today the pain is just in the one shoulder now

    Hello Everyone

HI johoops, for the clear, I was drinking mint tea (to help with the gas pain - also hot water with a couple of drops of peppermint oil from Holland and Barratt) clear fruit juice, consommé and Bovril. Today I had a cream of vegetable soup, which I passed through a sieve, for my lunch, and 200mls of slimfast for my supper ( fruit juice and/or tea for mid snacks) and this has actually made me feel quite satisfied. My gas pain has gone from being in both shoulders, to just the one, thankfully, I have read on here some people are having to endure it for weeks/months!
