As, I type, I am 1 day post-op and in a nice hotel in Tijuana. People are much more friendly than you all seem to think. I think as long as you stay withing a couple blocks of the hospital, you should be fine. The hospital REALLY feels like a safe haven. We ate at a seafood restaurant called Los Arcos. It was packed and we felt very out of place and uncomfortable (lots of stares). I was there with my mother and the waiter brought her a rose and gave us both Kalua's (sp?). I had mine done by Dr. Kuri and he is very wise and a real good guy. Only thing im not looking forward to is crossing the border because that line going out of the US is HUGE!!!:faint:

I'm back! I tried to log on yesterday but there is NO internet reception at the hospital. Now im in the hotel so i get "fair" signal strength. Surgery went well. No complications and minimal bleeding. The Barium Sulfate went down perfectly for the flouroscopy. They put a 10cm band in me with a maximum fill ammount of 4cc (i believe). My port wound hurts the most and it kind of hurts when I burp, but none of the pain is bad. Not really any gas pains. I get home tomorrow and i'm glad to get out of the hospital. It seems like for the time the IV was in me, I felt groggy and always half-nauseous(like this:tired). But its out and I feel better. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to drink liquids till im full so I've been sipping Water and watered-down apple juice pretty often. Thanks so much for the support!!!

Hey everyone, my name is Tim, and im 19 years old. I live in Seattle, WA (kirkland actually but its close) and I'm going to get banded this coming Sunday in Mexico by Dr. Kuri. I am very excited and I want to be there NOW! I am currently 6'2" and 295lbs with a BMI of 37. (was 300 2 weeks ago but im on a personal diet before surgery) I am hoping to lose at least 100lbs. within the first year. Its great to be here and I will be very active on the forums.

I am getting banded in 2 days and I was wondering the same thing, but it DOES come down to the fact that everyone is different. I am a 19 year-old male and statistics say that I will lose more than a woman at 50 years old. But I could end up losing 1lb. per week(not likely but there is always that chance).I am planning on going to the gym 3x a week with bicycling thrown into the mix. My goal is to lost 115lbs. after a year. i wish you luck.

Well then Ill hope for the best.

I definitely got them once I started gaining weight. I hear smoking weed can also attribute to it. I lost like 30lbs. last year and they got smaller because once I gained that all back, they got bigger. They f*$#ing suck. Its sort of an embarrassing subject because I got made fun of a LOT in junior high. I used to be thin before 5th grade.

I am flying down to San Diego on Friday and either the same day or Saturday I am being picked up for the program then flown to Mexico.

Hey all, Just wondering, how much does age affect weight loss? All I have heard is that a 19 year-old male (like me) will lose more weight usually than a 50 year-old male. Can anyone add on to that? Thanks Tim

Thanks, Holly! :biggrin1: Have you been banded yet or are you waiting? I saw ur sig but there was no progress. Thanks again for the warm welcome, Tim
