Newbie :) Surgery has been scheduled!
Kimmy89 replied to allthatJez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, Jez! Congratulations on your decision for the lapband! My name is Kimberly and I got the lapband last October and it was the best decision I ever made. I am about 5'8 and weighed 300lbs before surgery. 7 months later I now weigh 223 and still have a little over 40lbs to my goal weight. You will feel so much better physically, mentally, and emotionally. Everyone on here is very supportive and can answer any question you have. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. good luck on your journey! -

How are you feeling? Do you find you're getting full faster? I go for mine tomorrow. Hopefully it all goes well!

That's great! Congrats! They put a lot of fluid in your band during surgery. I had 1.5cc and they added another 1cc on my first fill so I have only 2.5cc. It's hard to go back to liquids but at least it's only for a couple days! I'm so happy for you!

We'll today was very interesting. My appointment for my adjustment was for 6pm. I got off work early and went to True Results around 2pm to find out they closed early! The guy there gave me a number for corporate so I called them and they got me to the director at the location I was at and she was NOT happy. Apparently they were suppose to work a full day but the staff decided to leave early and not let their afternoon appointments know. So the director guaranteed I will be seen next Tuesday when it's convenient for me and gave me a $50 gift card for all the trouble I went through. I was really disappointed in what happened, but I think the director handled it well. I wouldn't want to be the staff when they go back on Thursday!

Lol yeah! I'd like to know how it goes! I go for my fill in a few hours. It sounds weird but I'm excited. Lol.

I have read a couple blogs where people say if their port is just under the skin, as they lose weight there's a small bump but it's nothing noticeable.
-
It shouldn't be too much longer that you'll be healed. I have trouble feeling my port and the way the nurse had trouble getting the needle to reach it I'm guessing it's not very close to the surface. But since you say you can feel yours, your fills should go smoothly. I go tomorrow evening so I will definitely let you know how it goes!

3rd day post op horrible feeling like i need to burp
Kimmy89 replied to LadyJ314's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. The doctor told me the gas used during surgery could cause pain in your left shoulder area. It will go away in time. -
My first fill wasn't too bad. They did have trouble finding the port so I had to have it done through X-ray. Mine is right below my largest incision. I was pretty tender after the nurse had probed to find the port so she given me a shot to numb the area. Maybe you could ask for that if you feel you're still tender. I go back on Tuesday for my second fill so if you don't go by then I'll let you know how round 2 goes.

Hello Kimberly. Congrats in your banding. My name is Stephanie and I've been banded for 6weeks. I live in spring. So far I've loss 33 pounds. Wow! 33 pounds is great! It's nice to meet someone fairly close to me going through the same experience. Yea same here, nice to meet you too. I'm trying to find friends here that are dealing with this like us. It's definitely hard being alone. I have great friends and family but I don't think they understand what I'm truly going through. My mom says she's supportive, but she's been trying to sabotage me since pre-op.

3rd day post op horrible feeling like i need to burp

I had the gas pain about a week after surgery. One thing I learned....walk,walk,walk! Seriously. You'll start burping and you'll feel so much better! I had the worst gas pain in my chest and once I started walking, just around my house, I was able to burp and it went away. Even now,2 months late, when I walk around the mall I start burping. Lol. -

So I had my surgery last Thursday. For the first few days I actually felt AMAZING. Then, after a few days, I just crashed. My stomach was hurting, my chest was killing me, and if I even tried to stand up, I felt like I was going to be sick. I had to have the surgeon's assistant call in something for nausea and had to stop my prescription pain medicine and start liquid Tylenol because I couldn't eat anything so the medicine was making the nausea worse. I haven't slept well and have been pretty miserable. But by some miracle, I woke up this morning and felt pretty good. To be honest, I was getting scared I would never get back to feeling myself. I was suppose to go back to work yesterday, but I ended up having to take the rest of the week off. Can anyone tell me if you really start feeling like your normal self after a while? Today is the first day I actually ate something. It was wonderful. Sorry to write so much but I've had so many emotions going on inside me this past week I thought I was going to go crazy!

So yesterday I finally got my lapband after trying for 4 years. It's still hasn't quite hit me that I've actually got it, but the pain now reminds me. Thankfully it's not as bad as I thought, but it's very uncomfortable. I have no desire to eat though. Is that normal? I had nothing but water yesterday and still don't have an appetite. I don't feel sick, just not hungry(which is kind of nice.). Does anyone have advice on how to stay comfortable once the anesthesia wears off and the pain is more intense? Thank you everyone for being so encouraging.

Oh I bet it'll be nice to eat something other than liquid!! Surprisingly my stomach really didn't bruise at all. My incisions are almost completely healed already, which is nice. Enjoy some mushy food for me! Lol.

Well at least I can say I'm down one week. The major thing is feeling so nauseous. I'll be feeling fine and then it just hits me!
-
At least you're near the end! Nothing can stop you now!

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and go in for my lapband surgery in about 3 hours(ahh!!). I am getting scared about the actual surgery but I'm so happy to finally be getting this. I have been overweight my whole life and always struggled to lose. If anyone has any good advice or just some words of wisdom, I would greatly appreciate it. Take care!

I totally understand that feeling! I had to go to monthly appointments for 6 months before my insurance would approve the surgery. I kept saying I wouldn't believe it was happening until it happened. Surgery day I was in my gown and all and still said I wouldn't believe it until it happened. It seems like when you want something really bad, there's a lot of obstacles. But you only have one more week and it WILL happen!

You're so close! I can't wait to hear how it goes!
