  1. Hi. I had my surgery in October of 2013. My doctor is very strict with fills. I believe I'm only at 3cc's. I got this fill about two months ago and everything was fine until about three weeks ago. All of sudden for the past three weeks my lap band hurts. I'm almost thinking it slipped higher up in my throat. Two months ago my surgeon ordered me to have an endoscopy by my gastroenterologist. After the endoscopy, My gastroenterologist said everything looked fine, except she wondered why my surgeon placed the lap band so high. Now I'm concerned since I've been experiencing this strangling sensation for three weeks. If the band has slipped higher, what will happen next? Also, because of the tight feeling, I feel nauseas all the time. I really don't think it's the fill because I was fine with it until recently. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Lap Band feels like someone is strangling me

Thank you Bandarella for this info. I'm scared now. I see my surgeon next week and we will definitely be having this conversation. My gastroenterologist said it was placed high. But then when I had an X-ray the technicians said everything looked fine. I tend to go my gastro's analysis. I pray to God I don't need surgery again. Bandarella, if I may ask, what type of problems did it cause for you? I want to see if my symptoms are similar. Thank you.

Lap Band feels like someone is strangling me

Thanks for getting back to me 2muchfun. I have a drs appt next week with my surgeon and I'll talk with him about the issue. And it's not really when I eat or drink. It just feels weird all the time. And it's also hard for me to swallow pills. It's like they stay stuck in my throat no matter how much I drink.

    Feeling So Discouraged!... And Hungry!

I to am about 5 weeks in and am going thru the exact same thing. I'm discouraged and not losing any weight either. I did lose ten pounds during my two week liquid phase. But I just got my first fill on Friday, 3.5 cc. I feel absolutely no restrictions whatsoever. It is very frustrating. I feel like I can eat anything or whatever I want. I totally expected restriction with my fill on Friday. So I guess I'm in bandster hell.
  5. Had my surgery oct 24th and had my first fill today. My dr gave me 3.5 cc of solution. Then he put me back on liquids (ugh) until Sunday. I just ate a full bowl of cream of mushroom soup and I felt no restriction at all. Now I'm drinking a full glass of ginger tea and still don't feel restriction. Do you think I should've gotten more of a fill?

    Hair Loss

I was banded on October 24th and haven't had my first fill yet. I'm still in the mushy food stage. I take a multi vitamin, calcium and vitamin D everyday. I've always had ultra thick hair. Now I'm noticing it's thinning on top. I'm devastated. My hair has always been my crowning glory. Any suggestions on what I can do to stop this? Or prevent this from happening? Thanks.

    Drinking before eating?

Thanks NaNa. I'm going to show this to my surgeon. I wonder if he'll agree with it. It makes sense to me, but I wonder what he'll say.

    What to eat

Food choices? Hmm...I was banded on October 24th and I'm still on an all liquid diet. Friday hopefully I'll be switched over to puréed foods. Your doctor should have given you clear instructions on what you can have while healing.

    Pureed Red Potatoes?

This Friday I think my doctor is going to switch me to puréed foods. At least I hope so, cause I'm starving. I had my surgery Oct 24, so no fills yet. Has anyone tried puréed potatoes or mashed potatoes? I was just talking on the phone with a friend who got the sleeve and she says her stomach totally rejects mashed potatoes because they're too heavy. I went to the store and bought red potatoes, sweet potatoes and vegetarian refried beans. All in preparation for Friday. Any other puréed food suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm a total newbie. I don't even fully understand the whole fill thing yet.

    Almost a month out stressed!!

Ok, so is that why I'm able to take big gulps when I drink? Or when I eat soup? I was wondering why my lap band doesn't hurt like everyone else says it's supposed to. I just had the surgery on Oct 24th and I kept waiting for all this pain that never came. Granted I'm still on liquids, but they never hurt going down no matter how fast or slow I drink them.
  13. I had my surgery last Thursday and so far I haven't had any real problems. I have my first post op doctor's visit on Nov 8th. At first my hunger was in check. I drank my 27 mg Protein shakes three times a day, organic chicken broth, sugar free Jello and lots of Water. I also take Calcium crushed up in my shake, chewable multi Vitamin and Vitamin D. For the pain I was taking torodol and liquid Tylenol with codeine. I've since stopped taking both because the pain is manageable. Ok, well now it's day 8 and I just feel plain yucky. I'm sick of my shakes and broth. I really don't like jello but I made myself eat it anyway. Yesterday I bought sugar free ice pops. I'm dreading this coming week. I am so so hungry and I feel weak. I'm going crazy over here. I keep craving sour dough pretzels. I just wish I could sleep until Nov 8th.
  14. I had my surgery Thursday late afternoon and everything went very well. I was supposed to go home that day but my oxygen levels weren't satisfactory so I had to stay the night. Wasn't happy about that. But anyway I've been eating soup, hot ginger tea, sugar free jello, 25 gram Lean Protein Shakes and water. Also taking a chewable multi vitamin. I do have shoulder and neck pain from the gas. But it's manageable. My abdomen is also sore and it's hard to get up and down. I walk everyday. I'm doing well in regards to not being overly hungry. Occasionally I've been craving pretzels. But what I wanted to know is it ok for me to have sugar free cough drops, as long as I suck on them?
  15. Thank you Bandista. I hope all goes well with you too.
  16. Hi, yes I have the exact same fears. My surgery is scheduled for Thursday and I may postpone it. I'm so scared that my food is going to hurt going down and I am also scared of band erosion. I called my surgeon today to discuss those fears but he hasn't called me back yet. Still waiting...
  17. I am not nervous about having the surgery. But I'm worried about the after affects. Everyone I know that has it vomits a lot, has severe digestion problems, and some Psychological issues over hardly being able to enjoy food. Then I've also been told that The lab band can erode into your stomach. So you see I have many fears. So many That I'm considering canceling my surgery this week. Are my fears unfounded? Please help!
