Anyone go to Dr. Choban in Columbus,Ohio
Stevendheeter replied to dorothyb's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hey DorothyB! I am attending OSU's on 8-6 and Riverside on 8-7. I was going to the MT carmel one on 8-8 but I promised my son a day at the fair and to see Weird Al Yankovic that night so I had to make the appt for Aug 15th. Lets keep in touch so we can share the info? I have a journal if you are interested..... -
My Doctor was surprisingly encouraging of having the procedure done! I was really happy! He gave me 3 programs to look into. All in Central Ohio. I have already made appts with all 3 for the informative meetings. Mt Carmel Aug 3rd 6-8 Ohio State Aug 6th 6-8 Riverside Methodist Aug 7th 7-9 Has anyone been to these hospitals and can recommend them? I would feel more comfortable going on a referal than a sales pitch if you know what I mean.... My "why"s are coming soon, I promise!

I had the same problem and the way that I fixed it was I had the presure setting lowered. After I lost 40 lobs I found I was waking up in the middle of the night belching air not gas. (Try explaining that to your spouse that is dying with laughter!) Anyway I went back and had another sleep study done and the presure was lowered and everything was fine. The preasure thing is not an exact science. They should do that for you relatively easy and without having to do another sleep study since you received the Cpap not so long ago. Let me know how things work out. I am interested in hearing. Godspeed to you, Steve

Step 2-July 27, 2007

I DID IT! Not really a big deal I guess to most people but it is to me! I made my first Doctor appointment! Monday morning is the day I get the reaction of my doc. I am prepared to change docs if the response is a negative one. Have only seen him twice so it will be no big deal. I have told 4 people at work so that can ask me about progress and I trust them not to spread it around. I also trust them to encourage me without judging my decision or badgering me about it. -

The first step to recovery....July 26 2007

I have been thinking about it for years right? The whole Stomach stappling thing. Two of Teresa's cousins did it. I should be able to do a band. They don't take anything out just restrict my ability to eat a little. So here I was at work today and I finally decided to do it. I am going to make my DR appointment tomorrow and I will see what needs to be done. When I checked into the bariatric surgery it was two 6 months DR supervised diets and a psych test. That is a long time and I don't want to wait that long. But why prolong it any more. I will write my why's later. They may suprise you. They may surprise me too. Later -

Andrew! Dude! I thought I was the only one! " what can I order to get the most food or Buffet mode as I think to think of it." I also never thought of the clothes store thing though. That is another reason I need to put on my list as to the 'WHY' to do this. Being able to wear something other than BIG DOG clothes...SWEET! Thanks for your candor! I really appreciate it Steve

Thank you BWD! I really appreciate your thoughtful answers. I am 6'5" and 405. I have always had a defensive lineman's size and have enjoyed it. Getting my mind around being smaller is getting to me. I have no problem facing the pain that will entail, it is the loss of identity that wigs me out, if that makes sense. but I remember a quote, not the movie or actor, just the quote. "I want to be known as the just 'the funny guy'. Not the big funny guy." Anyway, Thanks again Dave. You definately have the gift of encouragement. Steve

Hello Everyone! I am looking into this band thing. I have been reading some of the posts and I have a few questions. The reason why I am asking here is because I want real answers not a medical jargoned answer my docs give of all the risks if I don't do it. Not to mention I am scared and don't know of anywhere else to go to hear from people that have "been there". So here it goes.... Why Mexico? Do you really lose your hair and if so does it grow back? What is a "fill"? What are the first few days like after the procedure? What does the aftercare consist of? Did you notice negative psycological effects? Do you miss having a big stature? Sorry if these are ridiculous questions...... Thank you, Steve
