Does anyone have an opinion or faccts about the safest surgeion or hospital in NJ. I have started the pocess with Dr. Abkin out of JFK in Edison, NJ. Thanks -
Does anyone know if insurance will pay for a sleeve if the band did not work. Would it help if I changed my insurance company? I am gaining weight quickly and see no end in sight.

I am just starting out and I really appreciate your story. I can relate to the seat thing. I went to a couple of theater shows in Manhattan and those seats in the old theaters are tiny. My daughter let me lean into her so I did not overflow into the person seated next to me. My journey has begun....

Great story and you look great. Back after 3 days huh. I was still laid up, could not sit or lay down without a lot of pain and could not sleep. BUT I made it through and am ecstatic about the surgery. It is a tool as you say but so far it is a magic wand. So much easier not to eat. I hope it lasts. God luck to you and thanks for sharing.

I was in your shoes last week, I was still skeptical but went with it. I am just so happy now that I did. The diet sounds way may complicated than it turns out to be. As for me I just make sure I get everything in and it is working out well. You will find your routine as the post above stated and it really is actually fun....sort of... to watch yourself develop a new eating pattern with really very little stress and a ton of happiness. Good luck and let us know how it goes. -
Is something wrong....

I had surgery 3 days ago. I am having a good deal of pain in my abdomen. It especially hurts when I change position from sitting to standing to lying...or even turning in bed. Abdomen is sensitive to touch when I press down a tiny bit. The surgeon told me most people do not feel much pain after surgery and don't even need tylenol. Well that's not me right now. Anyone know about how much pain is expected and for how long....minus the possible chronic pain some have spoken about? -
Anyone Afraid of Telling Others about WLS?
bettiann replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did not have it yet but when I do I will not tell anyone except my immediate family. That said I'll really probably tell everybody eventually. But I don't want to at first. They post our schedule at my place of work so there will be 5 sick days listed right under my name. Then a month or so later I will have become( hopefully) be skinnier than I ever was, and won't be found at the vending machine as much. They will put two and two together of that I am certain. So I am gonna lie....or at least try to. Anyone have a good lie I can tell to cover up them knowing I was out and then getting skinny? -
I have given up the secret love of my life....Just saying......

Thanks for the encouragement. I am feeling a little more positive that this something I can handle. I have 3 months to think about it while get approved. Maybe no more shopping in the plus size section is worth it. -

I have not had the surgery yet and am still debating between sleeve and banding, and doing it at all. You siad exactly what I feel. I live to eat. It makes me happy all the time...thinking about what I will eat, eating it, thinking about what I will eat next. The thought of never having a big bowl or two of spaghetti and meatballs scares me. Probably because I am a bit of a loner aside from socializing with family and working. What would I do with myself? I am not going to change the person I innately am. On the other hand I would like to go somewhere where I am not the fattest person, where bariatric surgery is not suggested to me with the kindest intention. I'd like to run up the stairs when I am late for work, or fit in a theatre seat without flowing over to the next person. Which is more important to me....that is the question... -

Thanks, I will look into that. It is such a big decision. I am going to a couple of seminars this and next week. I will check to see if he has one anytime soon.
