Day 2 & 3 will get better. Sip, sip, SIP water. It's important to stay hydrated. Move as much as you can within reason to move that gas. Remember you had an invasion to your insides. Rest and heal. Welcome to band land. -

Pre-op today -Drama in the waiting room!
starfish n coffee posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I'm at my Pre-op this morning, sitting in the resulting room reading over the 1000 pieces of paper I need to initial. There's 2 women and myself . One woman asked which surgery was I getting. (bold question) anyway I told her lap band. She asked why? I gave her my explanation of that I wanted none of my organs removed, cut, rearranged, etc. Then I added less recovery time. The other woman (we'll call her Drama) just starts in with me. Drama: "Well when do you plan on going back to work? Me:" okay..... Uh... surgey is on a Wednesday, going to work on Monday. I have a desk job." Drama: " Naw Honey! You Gon need two weeks!" Me: "To each his/her own. Thanks but I'll be fine. By the way, what surgery are YOU having? " Drama: "Oh I got the band 2yrs ago. " By this time the other lady bucks her eyes and say "well how much did you weigh!? " Drama: "345" Lady : "How much do you weigh now? " Drama: "266" (drama back to me) Drama: "You really need to rethink taking more time off. " Me: "why? Is the pain that bad? " (wait for it) Drama: "Naw!! Cuz you Gon be hungry! " Me: long blank stare..... "Are you kidding me?....... " Thank Goodness the nurse called my name because I was getting ready to drop the mic and exit the stage! I just had to share. Are people really that bold? Lol!! Starfish n coffee -
Pre-op today -Drama in the waiting room!

Uh oh....no shade throwing. That was a mean little jab. I don't think pretty thick 1 meant it that way. What she was trying to say was is that someone who has had mediocre weight loss results in a 2 year period of time really doesn't have room to give advice. And considering how rude she was to me in the waiting room I concur with Pretty thick 1's statement. And to answer the question for pretty thick 1, has she done well........she has done VERY WELL. -
South Georgia Banders
starfish n coffee replied to delove32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you drinking your liquids every 15 minutes . Don't know what your doc or nutritionists directed you to do, but I haste that you're hungry. They have clear protein you can drink. Try that for your hunger pangs. -

How South? -
Look here baby... (in my big mama voice) you made a decision that will affect the rest of your life in a positive way. You are going to be one Sexy Chicky and she's still gonna be a fat lonely piggy. I say that in the mean spirited way she said what she said to you. On the plus side maybe you'll be the vessel to send her on way to healthyville. Stay up honey and know at your tender age of 26.....everyone is not your friend. Good luck.

How about you just don't use the term "colored" anymore unless speaking about a box of crayons. If you'd said "colored" in my presence there would have repercussions and consequences. However you are right about black folk being a target. Now... Back to the matter of the cush. I won't smoke it now or after my surgey because the inhale process tends to make me gassy . Maybe again when im 6 months post op.

Pre-Op Diet Nausea
starfish n coffee replied to BandedBrunette481's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found for me that the EAS shakes don't seem to keep me full. I buy the the protein vials from Walmart, they are flavored in watermelon, fruit punch and grape. I use low fat yogurt, frozen fruit and one of those vials which has 42GM of protein (the same as EAS ) , that seems to keep me fuller longer. Maybe it's the powder, milky protein that's making you nauseous. -
Pre-surgery lap band fears
starfish n coffee replied to ninan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are normal in your fears. I had the same issue with the negativity. I just won't read or listen to anything negative. I only look for the positive. This is your decision and yours alone to make. The negative is you not taking the necessary steps to become a healthier you. You'll be fine. :-)
