  1. im so grateful for this surgery but they just emptied the fluid in my band friday and ive had acid reflux since, ugh anyone have this problem?
  2. just scheduled my panni for june 25!!!! any suggestions on helping prepare, this is a miracle surgery because i have not lost all my weight and insurance originally denied it both the doctors office and i got a surprise. i am just thankful because this is my last year with good insurance!!!!!
  3. thank you that truly means a lot!!!!!!! and when i started i was eating one cup of Protein and one cup of vegetables, now i do a half cup of each. but bc i was so immobile at the beginning i got into the habit of precooking my meals with a friends mother, and portioning it out to put in the freezer.
  4. ugh im in this plateau it seems to happen every time i am trying to get across the major milestones... but i kno its my fault havent been eating the best im debating if i should get another fill. oh and thank you!!!! how are you?
  5. dr b has them you can see the schedule on his website http://www.palmyrasurgical.com/seminar-schedule never been my self though.
  6. i have seen the plastic surgeon and he was talking about phases, the only thing that i guess has me worried is the rest will come out of pocket. I believe one of the reasons he is trying to do the surgery now is because i have severe back problems and the pressure from the hanging panni does make it worse. ive been trying to get into contact with the insurance lady at my surgeons office to get some answers bc basically i didnt meet the main criteria for insurance to cover it, and some how got approved after my insurance told me i would have to reapply in july. I just feel like he didnt give me enough information bc he wanted to see if i would be approved or not.
  7. I am supposed to be getting a panni, even though i have not lost all my weight. after going back and forth with insurance somehow it was approved even though i havent had the lapband for 18 months. I still have to quit smoking again, and i am supposed to be starting school in may, i can put that off but i dont know how much i should lose before surgery so that it wont look horrible. I am getting the surgery now because i lose my insurance next year. i dont even know what to ask my doctor because he wanted to do the surgery almost right away. can anybody help me?

    Anyone around 23?

Listen to the doc don't push ur limits, and chew a lot you will b fine if ur doc is good I've had zero problems with mine!!! And I just got approved for plastic surgery so just keep on the diet!!! Good luck!!!
  9. sounds like a great idea, it would defiantly set a foundation for people new to the surgery and give real value to seeing people succeed while also allowing people to personally motivate, it could also open up the possibility of outings and give people like myself who has struggled mentally with the "new ME" a chance to befriend others who have been through similar situations. The possibilities would be endless with such a program!!!! one idea that i would mention is to have cooking classes not necessarily to teach how to cook but instead help teach recipes that are band friendly. i know i personally get tired of eating the same things all the time but because the band is so finicky i am afraid of trying other foods that could potentially get stuck.

    Anyone around 23?

No ma'am he did not, but I've only gotten reflux when I ate to much acidic food and my band was to tight, but I've also had a lot of success with my band I had surgery last day of nov2012 and I've list 160lbs the biggest thing I learned was to eat right and exercise daily whether it is just a walk or lifting or water aerobics! I hope u see success soon!!!
  11. i used to be a big slushie, icee, soda drinker, now i find that anything with that much sugar is disgusting. my body also rejects most fried, sugary, and chemically processed foods. I do miss things from time to time, like sandwiches, sushi, bread, rice, but just thinking about how long and problematic it will be kills the craving mighty quick

    Are the fills painful?

i dont have any pain during the fill, some soreness for the next couple days at the port site. nothing major
  13. I really just got serious over the holidays about taking all the necessary supplements, but so far I have fallen quite short of what is needed according to some research. I was initially on vitaFusion multivites, but after more research realized i wasnt getting much of anything that i need. I am switching to Alive! once daily men's ultra potency which for the same price has twice as much vitamins and more of the daily recommended dosage. my question's are do I need to be taking anything else? I dont really drink protein anymore and know i need to get back on that any suggestions for relatively cheap protein. also i keep seeing that there is a certain kind of calcium we are supposed to take this new pill (Alive!) has calcium but it isnt either name of what i saw, do i need to still buy more calcium supplements. also I have noticed my hair thinning the old pill had 5% biotin the new one has 108% should i still look into extra biotin supplements. I would really appreciate the help!!!!

    Anyone around 23?

im 25 now but had the band at 23, no complications though, my friend had the sleeve and he loves it. he couldnt get banded because of a tumor but hes lost a lot of weight!!!
  15. i havent been through what you have persay. but i was banded in 2012 pretty much had given up on life all together. i was 467 lbs, unable to walk without a cane and eventually rollator and wheelchair. once i got better i got back into some bad habits and now trying to break those again. i started drinking and going to the bar all the time, started smoking cigarettes again. mostly just to be around people because i was bed bound for 2 years mind you im 25. After my birthday i realized I needed to make some changes and am now starting on those. My goal is get small enough to not get back surgery and be able to move around and standup without having to lay in the bed or take pain pills. ive lost over 157 lbs and refuse to go back to where i started. if you have any advice for me it would be much appreciated.
