I just sent my husband to the store for sugar-free yogurt but he really didn't find any with zero carbs or zero sugar they are about 5 to 8 g of sugar - what brands are you all eating?

Today is day three for me I had my surgery Wednesday and I feel okay the worst part is the pain in my shoulders and food is going down okay but I'm only eating Jell-O cream of broccoli soup with broth mixed in that seem to really cut that the saltiness and lots of water and some frozen yogurt which is really nice not the ice cream kind but just yogurt in the freezer hope everyone's well

Hi everyone well it is day two and I am feeling okay gas is bad up in my shoulder and my neck it really hurts a lot but other than that I know that I'm on this journey and I appreciate all your support I just wanted to check in and let you guys know how pain medicine definitely helps because it keeps me sleep see you all soon bye -
I recently went thru Insurance - with expectations that I would never get approved b/c my BMI isn't 40 and I am otherwise healthy - I called the WLS doc and spoke to his nurse who called my insurance company and I called my insurance company. The next day the insurance company nurse called me and we spoke for about an hour - I had no idea it was THE call that would be a deciding factor - I just told her the truth - my years of yo-yo dieting, Jenny Craig, WW, HCG - and yes I'm successful but I always gain it back... Long story short - less than a week later I received an approval letter in the mail saying I was covered - that was Sept. 12th - I'm going in to get banded TOMORROW - My deductible is paid ($3K but better than $40K!!!) and I'm covered 90%!!! Don't loose hope - you just never know.

Newbie ~ 3 weeks postop
ccjll replied to nerak0127's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've done my share of yo-yo dieting, and your bodies are in confusion mode holding onto every lb it can - but you just wait, over the next few weeks, like a snap of a finger you will loose many lbs at one time... I know that it took me right at the 6-7 week mark on Jenny Craig without cheating at all the 1200 calorie diet and then boom - I went out to eat at a restaurant and was very good with my choices and I came home and lost like 3 lbs from leaving for dinner - swear, no lie. Then the weight just started melting off - but it took two months of HARD work to finally get at to this point. I'm getting banded tomorrow and keeping this in mind - hoping that I'll have 20lbs gone for Christmas and then 10lbs a month there after... I'm bound and determined! Keep the faith y'all!!! -
Oh Sweetie_13 - this is exactly what I needed to read at this very moment! I'm so happy for you!!! I'm packing for the hospital now for a 12 noon surgery time tomorrow and I'm so happy to hear how well you are doing! I'm on the other side of the spectrum in that I just started this process 6 weeks ago, got approved a month ago and BOOM - getting banded tomorrow! Lightening FAST...My doc didn't put me on a pre-surgery diet, so I'm at my heaviest ever and looking forward to this journey I'm embarking. My mind is right, I know that I'll be eliminating sugar and most fat from my diet and eating very small portions and taking a long time to eat a meal. No more fast food for me ever hallelujah! It will be nice to visit with you on this forum - what a great group of people. I'll check in tomorrow. Rest well and I do pray the discomfort is better than tolerable for you!! Be well

My surgery date is next Wednesday, Oct. 23rd and I'm wondering how you all have handled telling your kids? It's no secret how I've struggled with my weight over the last few years. I have two daughters 10 & 11 who are perfect, the older a ballerina who is just beginning those middle school years and just got her period - needless to say roller coaster of emotions lately. I'm naturally a very open and honest person - but I'm worried on both ends if I tell them or don't them the truth - they will know something is up with my recovery and I've already been told I'll spend the night in the hospital - I gotta tell them something. Any advise out there???

I'm with u too - Wednesday is my surgery day - 80lbs to my goal weight of 140 - oh 2014 is going to be a FABULOUS YEAR!!! Looking forward to this journey with U!!!

I told my girls last night - the truth & they were so sweet. No questions but lots of hugs - two days...YIKES!!

Weekend before Surgery - Any Helpful HINTS???
ccjll posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Post Op LB Colleagues I was wondering if you could share what you coulda, woulda shoulda had in your house before you left for the hospital - things from Grocery and the Pharmacy?? I see GasX mentioned a lot, so, check - that's on my list. I also see many who "cheat" , many right off the bat and in my humble opinion I want to avoid THAT at all costs - so what items have satisfied the "old" you - the compulsive unsatisfied hunger you, post op? Now, I do know that there isn't a magic potion - I am being realistic, but I do like to share secrets and I'm hoping that some of you have some that have worked for you and that you'll share. I want an arsenal of "go-to" ideas - I'm a planner, what can I say. Also, what are your favorite Protein shakes/drinks - I'm really looking for those that are already made - grab and go although we're NEVER suppose to eat on the run - I was told that each meal should take an hour - that's going to be difficult with three kids and their activities. Which reminds me - how about stuff that you leave in the car to satisfy a hunger pain? All of your "Ah-Ha" moments post op would be GREAT - I'd love to hear them. Much THANKS! -

This is GREAT!! Thank you so very much NaNa for posting, this is exactly why this site Rocks! -
Mine is scheduled for Wednesday... and I'm so conflicted, especially when you go into the doc's office and there are people who it hasn't worked for... but I'm ready! I've tried every diet and this yo-you stuff sucks! The bottom line is we have to change our eating habits long term. I'm miserable with this weight I'm carrying... so regardless I'm moving forward. Stay positive and relinquish to doing things right and I bet we'll be A-OK!

Last appointment w Doc before lapband - Questions to ASK??
ccjll posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello All: I've got my 1x1 with my doc - the last appointment before surgery and I was wondering if you can post any questions that you either asked or more importantly those you forgot to ask and wish that you had pre surgery? This question is mainly for those of you who have already had the surgery. One week out!!! -
Thanks everyone for your input and advise, it's definitely helped - I'm honest and open so I shouldn't change who I am - I'll keep it simple and to the point over dinner tonight. I feel better already. Ouch on the Perfect comment - didn't mean that they are thin by writing that - meant that they are good, healthy, active kids who know right from wrong and strive to do their best in all that they do... perfect from my perspective I get it and I appreciate the candor.

My surgery is scheduled for Oct. 23rd and I see the doctor for the first time tomorrow - this seems weird reading everyone's posts, sounds like you have to go thru a pre surgery liquid diet? For how long? I'll have less than two weeks from by 1st appointment to having the surgery. Anyone have time to post what the first few weeks are like?
