Calling all March 05 bandsters!
StartingOver replied to Madeline's mom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For those of us banded in March, September is our 6 month bandiversary. Congratulations to everyone on their achievement thus far in their band journey. I just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing. Have you seen the results you thought you'd see at 6 months post-op? I am down 60 lbs so far. My band date was March 30th. I definately have not been the "perfect" bandster. I could eat better, eat less, exercise more, but heck, 60 lbs lost..I just can't believe it sometimes. It was so easy for me to set goals pre-op, you know just choose numbers, like "at 6 months out I should be down 100lbs" or "i'll be at goal by my 1 year surgery anniversary." I don't even consider those to be my goals, since I was just randomly picking numbers and thinking, okay by this date I want to be X number of pounds lost or whatever, that sounds good. I am just happy to be losing weight, in fact, more weight than I have ever lost before-even if you add up all of my weightloss attempts! I have more energy, more confidence, for goodness sake I can JOG!! (yes it is quite a sight, and my boob popped out of my bra on the first try, but a new bra and many miles later I'm still going!) I haven't exercised this much since I was in physical education class in highschool, and even then when we were supposed to run a lap or a mile or anything, I quickly became winded and started walking - and I weigh 25 pounds more now than I did back then! Getting banded is the best decision I've made thus far in my relatively short life. I am very proud of my accomplishments, and I can't wait to see what the next few years have to bring my way. -
I made it to the track tonight. I jogged 3/4 mile and walked 1 & 1/4 mile for a total of 2 miles.

Gosh, I really feel lousy. Perhaps it's because I haven't exercised for several days now. Or, it could be all that microwave popcorn I've eaten in the past few days as I've sat on the couch instead of getting outside and moving my body. Today is a new day though, and I'm determined to make it to the track! I'll let y'all know how I do.

No exercise for me yesterday. I'm planning on making it to the track this evening. I know it's only a matter of time before the sun will set before 5pm, and it will be raining, which means no more evenings at the track for me. Plan B?

I just got home from the track. I walked/jogged 2 1/2 miles. After all of the exercise I did yesterday I am just exausted. We'll see what I feel up to tomorrow.

Yesterday I walked a total of 6 miles. I took my son to the park in the morning and walked a mile while he played on the big toy, then I walked to the track last night and did 20 laps! My muscles are very sore today!

I'm definatley making up for my gain last week. This past week I got a fill, been drinking TONS of water, and added some jogging to my walks. The result? I weight 246 this morning. That's 7lbs for the week, and 5 for the challenge because of the first week gain. I know it's just extra water weight while my body is adjusting to the extra exercise, but I'll take it!!!

Last night I walked about 1 1/2 miles with my two doggy princesses. It was getting late and dark, so I had to call it quits. Hopefully it will stop raining by this evening and I can go for a walk.

I have decided to face the truth about my weight
StartingOver replied to BeckyinTexas's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Becky, You should be extremely proud of the weight you've lost in the past 3 months. You are doing a fabulous job. Keep it up!!! -
This morning I walked 1 mile. Last night I walked 5 miles at the track, then did some crunches and arm work while watching The Biggest Loser. Monday night I walked 3 miles at the track, which included jogging 1 lap (1/4 mile) nonstop. That was a first for me!

Good for you Vines! I think that we sometimes put too much emphasis on the amount of weight we lose, but the number on the scale really can be meaningless. Most of us start this process with similar goals-to be healthier, in better shape, smaller. What you have accomplished is exactly that!!!! I say good for you. We all also chose the band over RNY for our own reasons. This is not a race. You are doing great, and I bet accomplishing many of the NSV's that you had your mind set on when you began this journey. Keep sharing your success - you are truely a motivation!

So I post this challenge then what do I do -nothing! Well, I am back in the band groove. Here's my exercise update: Saturday: walked/jogged 3 miles, did some upper body strength training and ab work Monday: walked/jogged 3 miles, lower body toning and ab work **** I actually jogged one full lap (1/4 mile) non stop!!!!!**** I did it! I did it! Usually I walk 2-3 laps, jog 1/2 lap and so on. My husband accompanied me to the track tonight, and I told him that one of my goals was to jog one complete lap non stop. I'm not physically exausted at 1/2 a lap, but something in my mind just says "stop before you are exausted". I asked him if he would jog along with me and we'll see if the two of us can make a lap. We did it. Oh, and I beat him to the finish line!!!! Can't wait until tomorrow afternoon and we'll do it again. Hope it doesn't rain, this is Seattle after all.

Hi From Seattle
StartingOver replied to CatherineinWA's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Catherine, Nice to have you join us. I'm in the Seattle area too. Hey, if you ever need an exercise buddy let me know, I've been looking for someone to exercise with. I'm getting tired of walking by myself. Vines- You know what my hubby says about the Eastside...It's where the beautiful people live. You know, out jogging in the morning or walking the dog before they're off to the day spa. Hope you know I'm soooo kidding. However, I do have a friend who just bought a house over there for nearly a million, and while she was decorating she told one of the painter's "don't spend too much time on this, this is not my dream house". -
I was kindof bummed this morning, as I started the Fall Weightloss Challenge last week, and my first weeks performance was a horific 2lb GAIN. Say what??? I know why I gained, so I guess I just need to work on my eating behaviors, and I'm going in for a fill today too. Despite the reappearance of these 2lbs, I am celebrating my overall achievement since being banded. This morning I was looking for something a bit dressy to wear to the office. I tried on a great black & teal suit that I've had for a few years. I used to just wear the jacket and pants since the camisole was tighter than the skin on a sausage. Not only are the jacket and pants too big, but I could slip the camisole on without unzipping it, and it was so loose that it looked terrible. Yay! Then, for kicks, I decided to try on another suit, and once again, too big! So I opted for a nice plaid skirt that used to be soo tight that 1. I'd have to ask my hubby to zip it for me, while I sucked in my gut and pulled tight on fabric to give him enough slack to let it zip, and 2. it was so tight that it would bunch at the waist leaving about an inch of the lining showing at the bottom. Well, I am happy to say that I pulled it on this morning....you read it right, PULLED, not even unbuttoned or unzipped! It's not too big to wear, but there is definately a differance from before. I just wanted to share these motivating discoveries. Thanks for reading!
