    Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

Here's my update for today..... - Drank all my Water (it's 10:36pm and I'm finishing up now) - Exercise 1 hr elliptical machine 20 mins lower body weights 10 min abs I went to Target and forgot to buy a new Walk Away the Pounds DVD I forgot my Vitamin (until now-so I'm taking it ) I had not such a great day with food. Breakfast: 3 pieces turkey bacon Lunch: a few bites of a very very dry burger some fries dipped in ranch and consumed one at a time in small bites chewed very well as to not get stuck and a Dr. Pepper to top it off No dinner. I was busy. Fed the family first then wanted to rush off to the gym. Not a healthy choice. I'm drinking some Protein now because I know I need something in my system. Tomorrow I will try to eat a healthier, more balanced diet. I know that it's not healthy to skip meals-it really was an oversight cuz I was so busy (and not very hungry).
  4. Thanks everyone. And welcome Becky, Tracey, Silry, Gigi and Kelsy. Esmerelda- Thanks for the kudos and congrats on your band baby. Kelsy- yes my doctor recommends not getting pregnant until 2 years out. What can I say, I have a beautiful baby girl. My pregnancy did not hurt my band physically, just reduced the chances that I'll get to goal weight. So, I'm here to work twice as hard to make up for the time that I lost and the weight that I didn't :-) I would not trade my beautiful baby for anything in the world. Having said that...I did not plan to get pregnant so soon after getting banded. I would have loved to be 2 years out, or at least under 200lbs. What's done is done. I'd like to have one more child, but if I'm not well under 200lbs before my daughter is 3 years old (2 1/2 yrs from now), then I'm calling it good at two kids. It's great to be back.

    Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

Checking in with my report for Sunday's progress. - Got all of my Water in - Got all of my Protein in - Exercised at the gym (1hr on elipticle machine & 15 min upper body on weights) I forgot to take my Vitamin & I did eat after 9pm (string cheese) This morning I weigh 277. I plan on weighing every Monday. But I did weight Saturday for the start of the National Body Challenge, and I was at 281-so there's been some progress. I'll head to the gym again today for more cardio. Have a great week everyone. Losingjusme-I hope you're feeling better. Okiefamily- It is frozen here in Seattle too. Most of the roads are clear, but the side streets (like mine) are a solid sheet of ice. Hopefully things will warm up soon, but I think there's another snow advisory for tomorrow. It's been 5 days and our temps haven't creeped above freezing level yet. I used to do the 'Walk Away the Pounds' video and I really liked it, yes it does feel a bit weird walking in place, but it's a good workout. My copy was a DVD and it is so badly scratched that it won't play on my very sensitive DVD player. One goal for today is to go buy another as a backup when I can't walk outside or get to the gym.

    Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

This is just what I need! I am just now returning to LBT after nearly a year in which I've had a new baby and gained 50 lbs in the process. Isabel was born 6 months ago, and I've been trying to make a commitment to lose weight ever since, but I find myself eating around my band, eating junk food, and not exercising. No wonder I've gained 50lbs! Today is the first day of the Discovery Health Channel's National Health Channel. My husband and I have both signed up and are committed, and this boot camp goes right along with the timeline for the challenge. Here I come-new healthier, happier, thinner me! I am committed to eating sensibly. I will not consume ice cream, soda, fast food or junk food. I will attend a local support group at least once a month. I will exercise at least 4 days a week. I will keep a food journal.

Just realized that I'm out of control

Reality has hit, hard. I decided to weigh myself this morning as I was getting ready for work. Even before I stepped on the scale that I haven't used now for months, I gave myself a pep talk. I tried to convince myself that the weight I knew I've gained was okay because after all I am pregnant. I convinced myself even before lifting one toe toward the horrible weighing machine that whatever the display read I would not let it ruin my day. Finally, I gained the courage to make the step onto the scale and it read 119.5. I was confused. Oops! Someone set the scale to Kg (probably my foreign-born spouse who can make total sense out of the meteric system). Okay trying again, now with the scale settings properly adjusted, it read "264.5". Holy crap! That's 30lbs since November!!! Yes, I know that I'm pregnant, but the recommended weight gain for overweight women is like 15lbs or something. I am not disappointed that I've gained weight with my pregnancy, it's the amount of weight that I'm disappointed in. So, analyzing the situation, I know what has happened. 1) I haven't exercised all winter. 2) I eat ice cream or chips or popcorn or candy or chocolate on a daily basis. (an 8 count box of ice cream drumsticks in 2 days) 3) Having my band unfilled in December was not a good idea-I have no restriction nor do I have self control. I am just out of control. Really. I've known this for a while now, but I have finally decided to face the reality of the situation. I've been warned by my OB/GYN that the hospital I plan on having my baby at will not deliver a woman with a BMI over 40 (I think)-maybe it's that they won't take a pregnant woman with a BMI over 40 because of the weight they'll gain, then they'll be well over a 40 BMI when they deliver. Whatever. I need to start eating healthier and exercising. BTW-the scale at her office read 258 2 weeks ago. Either I've gained 6lbs in 2 weeks or our scales are not calibrated the same. I'm praying for the latter. I need to make some changes, now! It sounds so easy. 1) Eat healthy, nutritious food. 2) Move your body. I definately am not looking to lose weight, again I am pregnant and I'm well read on the topic of weightloss during pregnancy. Still, my focus should be to get back to the basics of being banded (I've nearly forgot that I have a band except for the occasional morning PB on a bagel or some other type of bread). Here is the agreement that I've made with myself. 1) Completely cut out candy, ice cream and junk food 2) Limit liquids to water, crystal light, lowfat milk (no soda!!!) 3) Eat fish 3 times/week (not fried)-omega3's are so good for ya! 4) Exercise daily even if the weather is crappy, I will find a place and time everyday to at least take a 20-30 minute walk. I know that I need to get back on track not only for me and my health, but for the little girl living in my womb. I know that I'm way less moody and more energetic when I eat well and get my exercise. Oh yeah, and my skin looks great, I guess it's the protein. There's my plan all layed out.

  15. I'm struggling with the decision of what to give up this year during Lent. I have oh so many weaknesses that I just cannot decide. chocolate? Sweets? Junk food? Soda? Fast food?? BTW, I know none of the above are recommended foods for bandsters, but it seems like lately I've completely forgotten what it means to be banded. Anyone else preparing for Lent?

Catholic? What are you giving up during Lent???

Lent begins Ash Wednesday, which is March 1st this year. My husband isn't Catholic, so just my son and I will be going to Mass on Wednesday evening.

Catholic? What are you giving up during Lent???

Out of the mouths of babes, right? I have a 5 year old, and broke the news to him a few days ago that we've decided to cancel our cable. This isn't for Lent, but just the fact that the tv has become a big part of our lives, and we agreed that the time would be better spend on other activities. He was completely devistated, until of course I reminded him that he will still be able to watch his DVD's! I always give up meat on Friday's during Lent. I also spend a lot more time participating in church activities (stations of the cross, lenten Soup dinners, etc). But usually there is a luxury food that I also give up. This wasn't an issue last year because I was getting prepared to be banded, but lately I have been eating like my pre-banded self (just in smalled quantities!) Thanks for sharing your plans for Lent Paula!

    It's a girl!

I had a sonogram earlier this week, and the sonographer was able to clearly identify "girl parts". I'm so excited that I'm going to have a daughter!!! I already have a 5 year old son, so now we'll have one of each. Only 4 & 1/2 more months to go. Come on maternity leave.......

    Pregnacy Questions

I am now 5 months pregnant, and voluntarily had a slight unfill so that I could get in all the nutrition that I need. I still get full very quickly, but don't have problems with PBing. Good luck with your decision.

    Anybody start at over 300?

I started at 305 and in 7 months got down to 230. I am now pregnant and not losing weight, but once baby comes watch out! It can be done. Good luck to you.
  24. Hi Jan, Congratulations on your pregnancy! Most people do have to have more than one fill to find their sweet spot. Also, each person is different, so 2ccs to one may have more or less restriction that 2ccs in another person. Of course, don't worry about that now with your pregnancy and all. I too am expecting a little one, due 7/4/06. I dropped 75lbs after band surgery and when I found out that I'm pregnant I had some saline removed from the band just in case. I don't really have restriction, but I cannot eat as much as I could pre-band. I guess my stomach has shrunk over the past year. Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl?
