    Low Carb Banders Unite

    I found this great site ~~> Low Carb Cooking <~~ Lots of good recipes in there ... especially the crock pot ones, for those like me who hate to cook! hollyberries, I think it was you who included this link to the Low Carb Enchilada Bake not too long ago?? THANK YOU!! I made that one evening last week and it was SO GOOD! Can't wait to make it again! :crying:

    Sounds like you need a fill since you say you're not restricted ... when was your last fill? Whenever I hit a plateau and stop losing, I change my "routine" and usually the loss will pick up again. As far as the amount of calories you should be eating, I would definitely talk to your doctor and see what he/she recommends. I looked up one of those charts online and according to it I could eat 2000+ calories a day and still lose 2 lbs a week ... yeah right! I try to stay between 900 - 1200 per day. Best of luck to you!

  9. I found the recipe ~~> here <~~ The first time I made them, I let them cook in the crock pot all day (about 6-7 hours on low) and they were really soft & tender. This last time I only let them cook for 4 hours or so and they're not as soft so I definitely recommend leaving them in longer than what the recipe says :drool:

  12. Kittykoo ~ My sincerest condolences to you! A few months ago I lost my motivation as well ... I stopped visiting this site, stopped monitoring my daily intake, stopped focusing on losing weight and instead focused on maintaining what I had already lost ... then I started gaining and I realized I needed to somehow get myself back on track! First thing I did was get a fill ... I obviously needed it and it certainly helped. Second thing I did was came back to this site and I make it a point to visit daily just to read up on whats going on with everyone else. Theres nothing more motivating than browsing through the "Before & After Surgery" picture thread or reading about everyone's NSV's. I also make it a point to post my daily menu in the "Share What You Ate Today" thread ... kinda sorta keeps me accountable for what I eat everyday :thumbup: You have come so far with your weightloss already ... you are so worth the effort to keep on going! Best of luck ....

  15. Did good till this evening :cool2: ... Came home after being gone for about 4 hours and the inside of my house smelled like gas :thumbup: ... I think one of the kiddos was messing with the oven knobs before we left this afternoon because one of the burners was turned on (slightly) sooo hubby insisted it wasn't safe to cook or even use the microwave and we went out to eat instead. This after spending the morning making parmesan meatballs and smellin' em cook in the crock pot all day. Didn't get to enjoy them for dinner but I did snag a few for lunch! :thumbup: Breakfast ~ Atkins Cafe Caramel Shake Lunch ~ 3.17oz Parmesan Meatballs Dinner ~ 1 Ground Beef Taco, A Side Of Beans & A Chocolate Chip Cookie from Carls Jr/Green Burrito
  16. I drank nothing but soda for 16+ years and almost decided against the surgery because I didn't wanna give it up! I thought it would be so hard but surprisingly it hasn't been hard at all ... I don't even miss it! Now coffee is a whole nuther story ... I definitely drink more coffee now than I did before I was banded. I've become addicted to iced coffee :smile: ... Did your doctor say you couldn't have it after banding? As far as other things ... soft breads, soft flour tortillas and really spicy foods. I love spicy food, but when it sits in the pouch waiting to go down into the stomach, it's really uncomfortable for me. I can have maybe a small bite or two of bread or soft tortillas but I'm careful not to over-do it. I LOVE mexican food but no more burritos for me, unless I get them minus the tortilla and just eat the "innerds" but I can eat crunchy tacos with no problems. :w00t: Everyone is different though so after you're banded and back on solid foods you can do your own taste tests to see what you can & can't tolerate (and of course, it'll change as your fill level increases!) I've been posting on this thread since my banding and have always been up front & honest about the amount of food I've eaten each day (although at times it seems to be quite a bit more than what others are eating ) but earlier this year someone made a comment saying "How can you eat that much?" and for whatever reason it hurt me ... Even though at the time I was probably down 70-80 lbs since surgery, that comment took me back to the feelings I had when I was the fat girl and thinking everyone was disgusted with me. I left this thread (and the site altogether) for a few months. During that few months I wasn't keeping track of my intake, wasn't holding myself accountable for everything that went in my mouth and my weightloss slowed and then came to a complete stop. I realized I needed not only a fill :smile:, but this site as well to help me get back on track. Moral of the story ... we're all different with our different bands and different fill levels. Some of us can eat more than others ... whoop dee doo! We're all in this together so don't ever feel ashamed ... and most importantly, don't let thoughtless comments made by others steer you in the wrong direction :w00t: Welcome to the thread momof5! :wub: *Stepping off the soapbox now*
  18. Hello! To do the pics side by side, I use a program called Paint Shop Pro ... if you don't have it, you can use the regular "Paint" program on your computer (click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Paint) ... Open the program, there should be a small white box and you want to click & drag diagonally down to make it bigger (big enough to fit both pics in) and then click "Edit" at the top, then "Paste From" and you can add in each pic. Once you're done, you can add text if you want and then save the image by clicking "File" at the top then "Save As" ... If none of this makes sense, I would be more than happy to do it for you! Let me know and I'll PM you my email addy to send the pics to. =)

  23. Hey Froggi ~ I LOVE beef jerky! I buy the "Old Fashioned" beef jerky made by Tillamook ... It seems to be the most tender that I could find and goes down easily. If you can't find it in your local store, you can get it on their website here ~~> TCS Jerky
