GROSSEST Pig Out Combo of Food
Kara in Texas replied to I'llsucceed's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Peanut Butter & Bannana Sandwiches ROCK! Also, I eat vinegar on EVERYTHING, not all the time.. but a lot of the time. From My turkey and Dressing (and all the fixins) at thanksgiving to popcorn, spaggetti, and anything else i could find to put it on. I love VINEGAR!!! And that is plain, white vinegar. -
Jemima J. it is by Jane Green and is now my favorite book. I am not what you call an Avid reader, but I got into this 400 page book and read it in two nights. IT IS AMAZING, it is an ugly duckling to beautiful swan story and SOO worth the read. Please pick it up if you get the chance, you will not be sorry. OH, it is very British, and there were some things that I just didnt get (for this TEXAS girl) but it such a warm and inspiring story.. that you get past the parts you dont "get"

Hey Sweetie! I am in the same position, but not dating yet so have no advice. ALL of my friends and family know, but I dont know that if I met someone knew, I would want them to know that part of me, yet. When I start dating again, and am but a shadow of my former self (weight wise) I would like to observe the men i am dating. I would like to see how they treat people that are different. I can just see being on a date with a man, he making a rude comment about an obese person, and that just being IT for me! I could NEVER be with someone that is not accepting of someone becuase of their Size. This is why I am making a scrap book, from beginning to end of my weight loss. I have been Fat my WHOLE life, it is as much apart of me as anything, it has made me the person that I am today.. and I want to share THAT Kara, with my future husband, just as i want to share the NEW Kara.

One month banded and I am hungry!
Kara in Texas replied to Boy's Mom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree. I always heard that 6 small meals v. 3 larger meals was better for you. Unless your Doctor tells you different. -
How has your relationship with food changed?
Kara in Texas replied to vinesqueen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My story is very different from so many of yours, yet so very similar. I have had as happy childhood/life as anyone I know. I have two very loving parents that have been together for 30 years. I was raised going to church and was never denied anything, including love, my whole life. I can remember being in the 6th grade and stealing money (small ammts) from my parents wallets to buy candy bars at school. I would go down when everyone had gone home and buy as many as 6-8 a day, 10-15 on the weekends. I would go home, lock myself in my room and eat every one. Waking up early on Saturday mornings was my favorite, because Friday night was Groceries Night.. there was always good snacks in the house. I would get up around 6AM, watch Cartoons and eat anything I could get my hands on, Chips were my favorite. I should back track, when I was four my parents bought me a trampoline because they noticed I was getting chubby, and wanted to try to combat it. Anyway... In HS I was always friends with the popular girls, always had tons of friends.. and plenty of boyfriends (although, I had been taken advantage of) Around the 10th grade, I got into drugs, then I learned that smoking pot..would make me even more hungry and could eat so much delicious food. I would smoke pot, to make me hungry and let me eat more. I stopped smoking pot after HS, but continued to eat... To this day, I do not know why I do this to myself. I have never wanted for anything in my life (anything that I NEEDED and usually anything that I wanted, with in reason) All I know is that when I eat, I have an amazing feeling. I don't know what it is, or why... but I do and that has led me to where I am now. I do not have any idea where my dependency came from, but I am hoping to learn. I have a tiny theory but don't know if it makes any sense. I have ALWAYS been a pleaser, to this day.. all I do is please others. I have never thought about what Kara wants, until...it came to food. THAT pleases me. so that could have something to do with it. I guess I will find out as time goes by and I don't have that crutch to lean on. -
that is SO AMAZING, Thank God and Amen is Right!!! Keep up the great work!!

Hey, dont knock it.. thats what I have to do! :paranoid

NOOOOOOOO! Dont do it, You ALREADY know how horrible you will feel just as soon as you get it down. Yeah, it will taste GREAT for all of about 20 seconds, but as soon as you are done you will start to feel bad and beat yourself up over it. Throw it away, and see how PROUD of yourself you will be!! Good luck!

One month banded and I am hungry!
Kara in Texas replied to Boy's Mom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I dont think it looks like too much at all. The Egg and Klobase (thats what we call it in Texas) have great Protein, as does the Tuna. I had my surgery on March 8th and am starting to be hungry again as well. I dont do breakfast, even though i should but the last three days I have had a small Wendy's Chili for lunch and two scram. eggs for dinner. I could eat more, I just wont let myself. I probably should be getting in more calories ( I have a strange thing going on in my head with food right now, though)...and it looks like you should be as well. Check Fitday.com to see what your intake is and see what that tells you. Also, some of the more experienced bandsters will probably have a better take on this than I can. good luck!! Kara -

Hello All! Thanks so much for all the support. I kind of got spicy tonight. I took a small throw a way pan, put a very thin layer of spag. sauce, then a layer of Ricotta cheese, then a little more sauce. Sprinkled some 2 % milk cheese and baked for about 25 min. NUMMMY! I could only eat about a half a cup and I was STUFFED. I have enough for about 6 meals. lol It isnt as packed with Protein as I would have liked, but enough to round out about 55 G's today. Will need more, but it is HARD to get it in during the mushies phase. -

Hello All!! I was thinking about this and wondering, How are you different, now that you are down a significant amount of weight. I know that after only 25 lbs, I am ALREADY feeling better. food doesn't seem as important to me as It did. This really has me on a bit of a high. How are yall different? Not just physically, but mentally or personality wise? Thanks in advance for your input!!

Thank you Megan!! That sure is sweet of you. I do think that one thing I have learned in the past three weeks is that ATTITUDE really is the key to this. I really think that if your heart is in it... it makes it SO much easier. :Bunny :banana -
New yummy recipes for mushy stage and beyond
Kara in Texas replied to hagerteresa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Teresa - You are so Lucky!! I have always wanted to own my own B&B! I think it would be so much fun getting to know all the people that come and stay with you... faces always changing. You really are lucky to work at one. The recipes sound GREAT!! They have some "Southwest" egg beaters that sound similar to the recipe you gave. I got the cheese and Chive, but I am going to give yours a try. I start Mushies TODAY!! WOOHOO! -
Hello Girls and Boys! Just wanted to say hey. I have been reading for a couple of days and decided to jump in. I really like the atmosphere over here! Cant wait to make some new band buddies! Kara :banana

Thank you all so much for the Warm Welcome. It is much appreicated. Alex - I am worried about the slowness when i start mushies. I cant wait, mind you... but I am scared to death of not getting on the scale every other day and seeing a 2-4 lb drop. BUT I guess the quickness had to start somewhere. I am so happy right now that as long as i dont gain anything... ill be Cool. I would love to see your Before and Afters, I really cannot even wrap my head around what I might look like at your weight. Thanks again all of you!! Babs, I am a member of DFW Bandsters, I just dont get to post much. I used Bandlandia, but have not heard from them since I set up the pre-op visit with my surgeon and faxed the paperwork. But then again I am not sure what or if any type of hand they would have in post op stuff. Thanks again so much! Kara

Hi Marie!! I used Dr. Jay (Nirmal Jayaseelan) he offices out of Medical City and I had my surgery at The Surgery Center of Richardson. I started at 319.5 Tuesday the day I started my (7 day) pre-op diet. Tomorrow will be two weeks post op and I have lost 25 lbs. I get to start mushies tomorrow and Pintos and cheese have never sounded so good. lol I would like to get to 175 and see where I need to go from there. I am 5*10 and big boned, so that may be as small as I need to get. Thanks so much for your intrest!!

Darling, My Post-Op Nurse (male) told me I burp as good as any man! I was so thankful that I am, by nature, a burper. I never had one gas pain - It was great!
