Hi everyone I was banded in March, 2005 and have lost about 65 pounds since my initial visit with the doctor. Since this summer started, I have eaten everything and anything in any amount that I wanted.:embarassed: Even though I have not dared to get on the scale, I do notice that I (throug some small miracle) am still wearing the same size. I knopw that when I do get on that scale I am going to CRY! :cry Is there anyone out there that can say anything to me :think (or anyone else) that will REALLY make me get back on track? At this point, my family no longer reminds me of my situation (they have really tried - and I acknowledge that) PLEASE PLEASE make me realize what I am doing to myself.:help: Thank you all so much!!!!!

Thank you to all who responded with a good kick in the butt - which I really needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your responses have really helped and I appreciate every one of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have really been trying to keep focused and do the right thing:kiss2: Lots of huggs to all of you!!!

Thanks for your response, unfortunately, I have learned how to "get around the band". Since you are newly banded, I will NOT let you in on my secret. I really do apperciate your response though.

i have a 4cc band and my doctor says that no more than 2.5 cc's will be added because if he puts in any more, he is afraid of erosion. What has been your experience with this.:help:

Throwing Up All The Time, Making Me Tired At Work
Eileenja replied to jen122277's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree - that you must go for a un:clap2: fill, but - if you must vomit at work or anywhere you might try turning on the water - that is what I have done when it became necessary - it is a distraction to the vomitting sound! Also, when people thought that i was crying because my eyes were watery fromm vomitting- i just said that i had allergies. -
I used Mauri Waldman - she is in Goshen. I was very comfortable with her and she was one of the people recommended by Dr.Kwon's office. Also, she has a support group twice a month which I found very helpfulGood luck! Eileen

Donali - very well said!

To me, it sounds like you might not be chewing well enough. Whenever I eat too fast, I ALWAYS vomit. In the past, whenever I felt like it was stuck just a little, I would keep on eating - big mistake - it always comes back to haunt me. If I take the time to wait just a few minutes for it to go down, I can then resume eating and can usually finish everything. It seems like I have to start over with each meal. But, since I started taking my time and waiting it out, I have been doing much better and have not vomitted for a few weeks now. (my family thoughtthat I was startring a new eating disorder - purging! - I told them that I would never waste that precious food!) Hopes this helps - good luck

Wow! I never thought about it - I mean about waiting a certain length of time. I have no idea how long before, but apparently it was long enough! You people reallly crack me up!

Will anyone ever notice my weight loss?
Eileenja replied to Alexra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Alexra Whenever I have gone places and people didn't seem to notice, I would ask them if they noticed and they always said that they really did, but that since there were so many people around they didn't want to make a big deal. Eileen -
We went out for breakfast for fathers day. I decided to get a cheese omelet. I guess it was too soon after my fill last week - oh boy - what a day I have had. In the diner, i had to excuse myself to go to the ladies room. I thought that I felt better, but on the way home it really came up! Late in the afternoon, I tried to eat a banana, i ate it, but it really took me quite a while. So, I thought I'll be ok for dinner - so I ate a baked clam - big mistake. (I won't go into details, but suffice it to say it was not a pleasant experience) So, in reality, all that I ate today was a banana. I guess I'll just stick to shakes tomorrow and probably tuesday. I have to go back to the doctor on Tuesday anyway to check the fill. At least I know that I have restriction now.
-
Update: I went back to the doctor today and I am doing much better. He wants me to have shakes for breakfast and lunch every day and mushies for dinner for as long as I can handle it. He things that I just ate too much too fast at breakfast and that I really need to learn how to eat slowly (I think I learned!!) But honestly, I think my fill is very tight but I did not say that to him. Maybe I'll loose faster.

DeDarla Thanks so much for your honest post! WoW!!!! I take zoloft every day for general anxiety disorder. I would LOVE to stop taking meds for this. I will definately try the Water thing. Who would have thought of that one. It is definately worth a try. By the way, my doctor choose zoloft because he thought that possibly it would help me loose weight, which it didn't. Thanks again Eileen

Cyndel You'll do just fine! Dr. Kwon is a very good surgeon. Although people say that he is strict, he is a very nice man. Also, he has a great office support staff who you will get to know quite well. Don't worry - be happy! Good luck with your surgery and keep us posted on your progress - it's only a week away!!!!!!!!!
-
nausea - i get very nausious! You can try taking very tiny sips of water and SOMETIMES it goes away and sometimes it doesn't. You just have to wait it out. I don't know about you, but I hate being nausious (sp?)

I just got back from the doctor. I had a fill about amonth ago and felt no restriction since then. So when he went to remove the saline before adding new fill, there was nothing there. Now he is worried that I might have had some slippage or possibly even that the last time, they completely missed the port. So, I am back on shakes for three days, then pureed foods another three, but I have to go back next week for another check. Please pray that I don't have slippage. In our support group, they talk about being careful of one particular PA. Guess what, I had that one last time! Honestly, I hope that it was her fault and not slippage because that would mean more surgery - I want to cry!
-
Thanks for your support - it really means a lot! Since I actually do feel restriction now, I am hoping that they just missed the port last time. Also, at the first fill, it hurt like hell and this time, I hardly felt anything at all. I guess I will have to wait until next week to find out for sure. Good news - I actually lost 1.5 pounds since yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See what a "good" fill can do. No, Jorget I was unable to attend the last support group, but I do plan on being there next time. The paper that I have says it isn't until the 27th - it seems like a long time away! Eileen

Good luck - I can't wait to hear that you told your mom "I told you so"!
-
That is exactly why i didn't tell my mom until AFTER the surgery. When I told her about it when i got home she said that she was glad that I did it that way, so she didn't have to worry - and believe me - should would have!
-
I know what you mean, people can really stink. Are you taking off from now till August 15th? Good for you!!!! I didn't tell too many people - only those who are close to me. I consider it my personal business.
-
I am so sorry that she took it so hard. Just remember, you are an adult and you have the right to do what you feel is necessary. Like you said you ultimate goal is better health - that's just the point!

Here's mine - Every time when I am in a car, the seat belt locks up on me and drives me crazy. I used to think it was the belt, but lately I have noticed that it doesn't happen any more? I go to the doctor on Wednesday and I am really looking forward to it because I am having a very hard time with my bad eating habits - it seems that they have returned! Although I had a fill last month - I have almost no restriction and I can eat way tooooooooooo much.
-
What foods do you find difficult to eat?
Eileenja replied to aileena's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bread - definately bread - i just can't eat it. Unfortunately, I love a nice big roast beef sandwich. Now I just have roast beef - no bread! -
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On to your "new" life

Dear 2B Thin I am so sorry that you have experienced some very nasty, negative, not to mention unprofessional people in your life. Since you work with kids, you can use this to teach them how to react to other harmful/hurtful situations that they may find in their lives. Obviously, you are doing a wonderful job if your students are willing to go to bat for you! Good for you to be the better person! (and I know it's not one bit easy!)
