  1. I had my surgery 5 days ago and I haven't been hungry since the day before my surgery. I have to force myself to have broth, or Protein shakes every 4-6 hours. I am very thirsty so have kept up on my Water intake. Is this unusual? Also I haven't lost anything, in fact I was 263 on surgery day and now 265? Am I doing something wrong or is this normal?
  2. I am passing on the recommendation for Gas-X. I also found it comforting to have a heating pad over my incisions when I was sitting or laying down.
  3. I had diareaha on the 6th day as well. I chalked it up to having only liquids for so many days along with so much medication. Also gatorade even on a full stomach can cause diareaha. That is great that you have already lost 7lbs. I gained 5 from surgery (which I guess is normal) and didn't start losing until the end of week 2. I had to get a refill of the naseua medicine, about 3 days after my last does I was so nauseous I had to take a dramine and then called the doctor. This happened again a week later. I haven't had naseua in 3 days now.

    Pre-Op-Diet

I made sure to drink at least 64 oz of water a day, and had lean cuisines through out the day. I also did not drink while eating or 60 minutes after eating. I ate about 3 'normal' meals during my 7 day pre-op and lost 13 lbs. If you can drop lbs without the shakes I recommend that becasue after 2 weeks of nothing but them after surgery they get old quick.
  5. I just had my surgery on Jan 12th so I don't know about scars in the long run. However I can tell you I have 4 incisions all less than an inch long. One is at my sternum right where the bottom of your bra would hit, the others are in a crescent shape parallel to my belly button. I was told to use Mederma once the bandages fall off. I would say unless you plan on wearing a bikini no one will see anything.
  6. I have been trolling on this board for months, and because of your experiences I made my decision. My surgery date is Jan 12 2012, and I am on day 2 of pre-op diet. I have been contemplating WLS for years now, but my needle phobia stopped me from getting the Lapband. In Sept I was hypnotized to get over the phobia and then went to a seminar. That is when I heard about the Plication study and started to do research on it. Just like everyone else I have tried just about everything. I do CrossFit five times a week, but can’t seem to lose anything but the same 40 lbs I have gained and lost for the last 5 years. I am nervous but excited for this adventure.
  7. I am doing great and back at work today which is 12 days from surgery. I do highly recommend getting Gas X (or generic brand since it was pulled off the shelves), as well as Pepcid or any other anti-heartburn medication. The prescriptions ran out last Thursday morning and at noon on Friday I was feeling nauseous and my stomach was having spasms. I called the doctor and they refilled all the meds and I felt better that night. I am still not hungry but am getting in 96oz of water and 80 gms of protein a day plus a liquid multivitamin. Today I am down 5lbs since surgery date, and have my follow up appointment this afternoon.
  8. I only told my 3 closest friends. Everyone else including all of my family thinks I had hernia surgery. The recovery is similar as are the scars.
  9. Thanks for the tip Linda E! If you have anything else I would love to hear it. As of this morning I have lost the required 10 LBS pre-surgery, now I just have to keep it off until Thursday.

  11. Northwest Weight Loss Surgery in Everett. It is particularly difficult for me because I am only telling a few of my friends, so I am excited to have this board.
  12. I am scheduled for January 12th. I am pretty nervous but excited for this next step. I have been reading the boards for months now and decided to take the plunge. I love reading everyone's ups and downs they have helped to make my decision.
