Pasta is a no no

I had my GPS. In Dec 2011 and have lost 35 lb. Dr Daniel Juacuz in Tijuana performed the surgery. He and his staff were very patient and professional. I would go to him again if I needed him. From what I read befor hand it may take one year or so to see more changes in my weight. If I would exercise I would probably see more results but to be honest I don't exercise. If a person wanted more drastic results in weight loss faster GPS is not the surgery to consider. I chose GPS because it was the least invasive of all the bariatric surgeries. I had no postop problems at all. VSG would probably give faster results. Personally I did not want to be chopped up permanently. I got what I asked for and now it is really up to me to make better food choices as well as upping my activity level.

Hello all, I am going to Tijuana, Mexico to Dr. Huacuz in December 2011 for the gastric plication. Any other comments about Dr. Huacuz? He seems competent to me, but just read about him being arrested in July this year for malpractice. What was that about? PM -
Safety At Dr Huacuz Tijuana Hospital
phyllismiller55 posted a topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Hello all, As I get closer to surgery December 27, 2011 I am hearing a lot about violence in Tijuana. A coworker said to cover my blonde hair and as much of my skin as possible so as not to be noticed as not from Mexico. Have there been any problems with patients getting to Dr. Huacuz's office or hospital? There is supposed to be a driver to pick me up at the airport and drop me off at the airport when I leave. I feel good about this plan, but just read an article about people being shot in their vehicle waiting to cross the border. Hope I am just a nervous nellie, but do want to be realistic also. -

Hi there, Just wanted to let you know that others are out there with lower end BMI's. I'm at 196 right now. Lost 9lb per Dr. Huacuz requirement to lose down to 195 before gastric plication surgery. I am supposed to have the surgery in late December of this year. Passport just came yesterday, airfare is paid for and will be paying the rest of the surgery fee next month. I have my week before surgery diet ready - protein drinks 3 times a day for 1 week before surgery. Of course it had to be Christmas week that I am on a diet BOOOOOOO. but really looking forward to losing the weight in the next year. I get the feeling that it may be slow since I didn't start out super overweight. but slow is better than not at all or keep on gaining. I just wonder what pit fals I don't want to fall into after the surgery that could sabotage my weight loss. LIke Worthers butterscotch candies. Any comments on this from anyone? PM -
