My surgery is tomorrow !!!!
Hollandsmom replied to choopie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You will be fine!!! The eating plan is a lot easier after surgery. Try to sign up for a food tracking website like thedailyplate.com. It really helps!!! Good Luck -

I am so excited...I hit my halfway point today. I was banded 5/19. I still have an open wound so I have not been able to vigorously excersise yet. If wound looks okay on Tuesday, I will have my first fill...I love my band!! -
Whey protein powder that tastes good?
Hollandsmom replied to ReiterDR's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you tried the whey protein bullets. They come in grape, orange, fruit punch, blue raspberry. They taste like Kool aid. One 3.1 ounce bullet has 42 grams of protein. It's is great mixed with crystal lite or can be used in making jello. -
I have been using daily plate for three weeks now. Love how it calculates calories burned for even mundane activities. I am "hollandsmom" there. Liz:thumbup:

I was banded on 5/19/08. I am from Waltham, Mass..about 10 miles from Boston.

I am an infusion nurse too!! It is my understanding that some of the fills take place under fluro..I don;t think I would like to do it myself though..

This is probably a stupid question

I considered doing baby food...then changed my mind. I pureed chicken, pork, beef etc... It is not as bad as it sounds I tastes the same, just the texture is different. -
Hello Fellow Nineteeners(SP), I am on a "progression diet" progressively adding new foods and textures. The wound over my port has yet to completely heal and therefore I am not able to exercise yet..need to change the dressing everyday. I am down a total of 38 lbs... The best part is, I have hit onederland for the first time in 12 years!!! Hope all are doing well. I am very curious to find out peoples experiences with fills.

Hi Sue, Just checking in. I am off antibiotics and my wound is closing more and more each day!!!! I am on what St. E's calls a progression diet where I progressively add more variety of foods each day. It is so good to actually crunch something. I saw an informercial for your Trikke...it looks fun. I have a treadmill in my bedroom, a fluidity bar , pilates machine and air walker in my basement. I also have every exercise video ever made( slight exagerration but not by much). I havent done much in the way of exercising yet due to the wound. I did go for a walk with my dtr and hubby last night. 1/4 of a mile from my house is a "soft serve" ice cream place and we all walked up after dinner. I had three spoonfuls of vanilla soft serve and boy did I bloat up!!! Might avoid that in the future. I think thats it for now. Hope you are having a great week... Liz:thumbup:

I see the nutritionist tomorrow to hopefully advance beyond "mushie" stage...cannot wait. I have not lost an ounce this week. I think my first fill is in July. Liz
-
I am also on mushies... What I do is have a boost glucose control for breakfast, a 60cal nsa yogurt for snack, lunch and dinner vary( mostly turkey) When I am not eating, I am drinking Water. I use the Special K water mix, each one has 5g of Protein. I recently found the website thedailyplate.com, it helps to track your meals, protein water etc... Have you been losing weight??? When do you see the nutritionist again?
-
I also had my period during surgery..I brought pads with me so I didnt have to use the "maternity pads"
-
Hi Sue, I am still on mushy food until Monday. I have not lost an ounce since last friday. I am not exercising yet, but plan for next week...hopefully my wound will start healing!!! Talk to you soon.. Liz
-
Hi Sue, Just checking in. Still working on healing my wound. Feeling ok... but, I just realized last night that I have not been eating enough..When I took notes at the dieticians, I thought she told me that 1 tablespoon equaled an ounce...so, I have been eating 1/2 of what i should!!! No wonder I have been so tired!!! I have now corrected this and that is probably why I have not lost any weight this week....Hope all is well with you, Liz

Soda soda soda
Hollandsmom replied to MrsFlipFlops's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I too was a tabaholic...my husband would buy me 4 cases per week..I had my last tab the night before surgery. It has now been 3 weeks without tab after 28 years of addiction!!! -
Mag, Try putting a small pillow under your port side, it makes it more comfortable to at least side sleep. Also, have you tried the special K waters. They come in powder for like crystal lite, have no sugar, 5gm of protein and 5 grams of fiber. I use these in between meals. They really help.

Hi Sue, My infection apparently is minor. I do have to dress it everyday which is a pain, but thats life. I am at my summer place in Maine, and I cant go in the water yet!!!! Went out to dinner with the family for the first time since banding and had a small amount of turkey w/gravy and a bite of mashed potatoes!!! Everyone was done way before I was. My daughters do not know the type of surgery I had so they are always trying to hurry me!!! Hope you are keeping cool this weekend.... BTW what is a trikke???

Hi, My name is Liz and I am from the Boston area. I am being banded tomorrow morning at 7:30 am. Not really nervous about the surgery or the pain, but I am nervous about having to give up caffeinated diet soda. This is a 28 yr habit....I hear caffeine withdrawal is hell. Does anyone have experience with this???:confused2:
