Dr. Nicole Jardin Pecquex - Dr. Pecquex is THE BEST
Hollandsmom posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Pecquex is the best!!! I have been a patient of hers for almost 2 years. I work at a MAJOR medical center in Boston as an RN but I chose to have my band placed at St. Elizabeth's by Dr. Nicole. The level of personal attention is unprecidented(?sp). I have never had a problem getting through to their office. The entire staff at the Center for Weight control is great. -
Weigh in... how much have u lost?
Hollandsmom replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I try to stay around 1300 cals with at least 60g of protein per day. Do you change up your workouts at least every 6 weeks?? I have been reading some research that says you need to change things up every 4-6 weeks or you body gets used to it. I have posted in other threads that I am doing ChaLean Exteme... It is a ninety day circuit training program similar to P90X...It really works, I am gaining muscle and burning fat.:cursing: -
I was losing very slowly too. Last time I saw my surgeon I was actually up .5 lbs. I started doing circuit training with the Chalean Extreme videos and weights. The scale is finally moving. In the first month of the workout, I lost 8% body fat and 12 inches. What are others doing for exercise???

Has anyone started the new Chalean Extreme workouts? I am looking for some buddies for accountability/support. I started the program on 12/29. It must work...I am soooo sore.

Hollandsmom replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Happy New Year to Everyone!!! I haven't posted in a long time. I am almost down 70 lbs with less than 20 to go. How are people doing with exercise??? I have had a problem being consistant with working out and that is probably why my loss has slown down. Does anyone do home work out videos? -

Restricted foods that you can't live without?
Hollandsmom replied to Miss Michelle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can do shrimp and lobster as well. I go to Maine every weekend. At least once while we are there, I will have a lobster roll ...very light on the mayo...I have never had a problem with it. Of course I dont eat the bread!! -
What does restriction feel like?? I have only had one fill 1cc in a 4cc band. I find that at night, I can eat anything. During the day I am so busy, just barely have time for breakfast and lunch. I did have an episode of "frothing"...was eating buffalo wing and drank some crystal lite.. But I am curious about full restriction... do you feel full all the time?? Is there an actual physical feeling of tightness?? Thanks for any input

Hi Leann, I live near Pizzi Farm. I grew up in Watertown..I have been living in Waltham for about 5 years. My daughter goes to Macarthur. My mom worked at Waltham Hospital until they closed...she was the director of the maternity unit. As a teen( thousands of years ago..) I worked at Francis food Market. Why wont your insurance pay??? Have you priced out hospitals around here?? Just curious. Where do you live?? If you want to contact me to talk via phone or in person, email me at eacampbell@partners.org, and I'll send you my phone number. I bet we know some of the same people as it sounds like you grew up in waltham... Talk to you soon... Liz

Hi Sue, Good to hear from you. I had my first fill a week ago...10 weeks after surgery. I have been steadily losing. I feel that I can eat way too much. I am still able to eat 1-2 slices of pizza:thumbdown: I very rarely feel full. I do very well during the day( I am on the road all day as a visiting nurse)...It is after 4pm that I misbehave...Definately still having food issues. But, I am losing. I think I have 1cc in a 4cc band. I am assuming that restriction means feeling full...I dont really have that. Seeing surgeon again in 3 weeks. How are things with you??? Looks like you are soooo close to goal. I have about 36lbs left to lose and I imagine that the last 10-20 will be the hardest. Liz

Hi Leann, I live in Waltham too!! I was banded on May 19th. Where are you having your surgery??

Weigh in... how much have u lost?
Hollandsmom replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hit 50 lbs lost today!!! Of course this includes 20 lost during preop phase. I was banded on May 19th but didnt have my first fill until this week due to wound complications. Not feeling restriction yet. I think the three days on liquids and mushies after the fill helped put me over the top. I do agree that right now it just feels more like a diet. I know that I cant eat as much as I did preband, but before my fill I could eat just about anything without a problem. Havent tried real solids since the fill. Have a great weekend everyone Liz:thumbup: -
Weigh in... how much have u lost?

I too was vacationing lately...Made horrible choices for the most part. Didnt do mydailyplate as much as normal. I was shocked to find that I still managed to lose a pound last week. I was previously 50 lbs heavier than my hubby but now am only 4 lbs heavier!!! Cant wait to weigh less than him. He is 6'1" and I am 5'8". Hope everyone is well. Still waiting for my first fill . See the surgeon again tomorrow but I doubt I will get a fill as I still have some sort of rash around the port area after recovering from wound infection there. -
10 days post op open incisions
Hollandsmom replied to emily111's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an open area on my port incision. My surgeon had me clean it with peroxide. I would use a small medicine cup and pour the peroxide into the "hole" and then clean the area with soap and water in the shower. Then I would put triple antibiotic cream on the area and cover with a bandaid. It took a while, but it is healed now. I was banded on May 19th. The doctor should look at the wound and make sure there is no "tunnelling". My surgeon sees me every week or two to check on the area... I still have some skin irritation from all the bandaids!! -
Did you get restriction from the fill??
-
I have been on vacation this week...I found that I am not making the best food choices. I am not eating NEARLY as much as I did before, but ...doing some fried foods... I was banded on May 19th but have not had any fills yet due to port site infection and surrounding skin irriation. I see the surgeon on Tuesday but I'm sure she wont do a fill yet because the skin is still really irritated. Is anyone else making poor choices??? I havent gained any weight on vacation but have not lost an ounce either.
-
So bummed out...Went to see surgeon today. Was hoping for a fill. I had a wound infection and now am having an allergic reaction to the bandaids!!! There is a big rash around my port incision so a fill is out of the question. This also means that I will not be able to go in a pool or hot tub yet...On vacation next week so that bums me out...
