For every doctor there seems to be a different diet plan. It is almost like they draw the diet plan from a hat and say, "here you go." I had to drink Water for 24 hours after surgery and nothing else. Then I got the Jello, broth, Protein delight (Yuck) for 4 days. Then I get to add pudding, yogurt, milk, and strained cream Soup for 10 days. I have 4 days left. Then I get to go to the mushies for 14 days before I move to solids for two weeks and then I get my first fill. All my portions have been regulated...1/4 here...1/2 here. Has anyone else had their portions regulated or is it up to you?

:faint:I can't wear my jeans yet, I am still stuck in sweat pants. My tummy is still so bloated. When will it go away?

That is excellent news Sonic777! Just rest and get well. You've got the rest of your life ahead of you!

Can you feel the difference? I mean when you walk and move around. Can you see the difference? Congratulations by the way that is amazing!

I don't think I have ever avoided a camera! :biggrin1: "Cheese" is my middle name. My husband would say it was "ham", but no one asked him. Just think after I lose all my weight I am going to have to hire my own paparazzi to take my picture.

Why am I still soooo HUNGRY??
cookielover replied to Ms. NYC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on the 3rd of October and I am fluids and I am hungry, but it is just temporary. I am not going to get caught up in the daily or weekly "beat my self up I gained weight dance". This is why I am refusing to buy a scale. If I don't know how much I weigh then I won't freak out. I only weigh myself at my doctors. I am much happier not knowing. It will be another month until my feet hit the scale again...if I gain then I gain. Then my doctor will know he has work to do. He is the "fill" man. Throw out your scales! -
There is not as much restriction in your band yet, as it hasn't been filled. Your swelling probably has decreased making you feel more "normal". I feel the same way. I have to force myself to slow down and take it easy because I am still healing and everything down there is still getting settled. I found that I have a lot of protein with water. I must get my 60 grams in or I am starvin' Marvin. Good luck and remember we are all in this together.

My name you know, my age is 33. I live in British Columbia, Canada. I am Married to my high school sweet heart and have a beautiful daughter age 10. I am a part-time accounting student. In the picture below is my dog Simon; I am sorry about his tongue it is just to long for him to keep in his mouth. I am devoted to my family and friends. However I just recently moved to Chilliwack, BC, which is far away from where I lived previously. My exercise of choice are walking and swimming. I also love my little white 2000 Bettle...beep, beep! I have a lot of energy and I am usually go-go-go all day long. I am addicted to Starbucks! So much so that when we buy a home I make sure that Starbucks is within walking distance, or it is a no go. I love mochas! I also love Facebook.com, it keeps me in touch with old friends and new. I love to travel with my family; in a year or so we may go to Greece. (Check me out in my new bathing suit then! Boom -Chuck- Woow- Woow) I'll end by saying that I have a lot of support. My husband of 12 years loves me deeply and supports me. (And he thinks I'm sexy.) I really like myself even the way that I am now too. I am a positive roll model for my daughter; who I love very much. And I am always here for any one who needs me. -
Shermy58- We totally need to be buddies...this is exactly how I feel. It is so refreshing to find someone who has the same positive energy I do. I just putting it out there to anyone else too...if you feel the same way as Shermy58 and I do please PM and we can be LB buddies!

Are you running a fever and then sweating it off maybe?

Welcome to the LOSERS CLUB! Congratulations.

Come on take those before pictures...they'll be worth money some day! Remember you are never going back there again. This is not just another diet that you are going to fail. This is the real deal. I took tons of "before" pictures (like 200- no lie) because they are who I am- right now. I am smiling in every one of them. Don't you want that "OMG moment" when you lose your weight and find your "before" pictures and see how far you come. Your not a failure, because you did something big that will change your life. Enjoy who you are at every step of this journey, because there is no going backwards.

Dear Want So Bad- I am glad your feeling better! Keep burping and getting rid of that gas baby!

I went to the doctor today as well and I got on the big doctor scale. The last time me and the scale had met I had weighed 245 pounds. So, I get on and I close my eyes...I hear my doctor writing on my chart...I am not going to look...I am not going to look...OMG I have to look! I slowly open my eyes not quite adjusting to the light, and look down at the number on the LED screen. 229. 229! No! Yes! No! Holy.... You get the drift. I realized that I totally missed my 30's I zoomed right passed! I didn't get to visit any number in the 30 family. I'll never see 230 EVER! Since I won't be weighing myself until November 14th...I probably won't see the 20's again either. Isn't that GOOD NEWS, because I really hated the 20's.

Jena- I am sure that it is not the worse crime in lap band history. You are on day 11 after all, and it was only soup. There is very little restriction in our bands at the moment so I think you didn't do harm.

Surgery and RECOVERY are a tough road. I can relate to the hiccups and burps. Man it is painful. I talked to my doctor, and he said it was no big deal. Make sure you are getting enough calories, because your body can not heal on zero calories. If you get weaker in the afternoon it probably means that you are tired. GASX did not work for me either...it was crap! The only thing that works is walking. Take care of yourself. Rest, eat, (I mean sip), and walk.

I totally understand where you are coming from! Hey I might be hungry, but I have real hope that I never had before. It is our time...this is our moment. We totally deserve it! I am with you 100%!!! :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

I was banded on the 3rd and I totally was backed up! I used Milk of Magnesia on the advise of fellow bandsters. I TOTALLY worked! I was good because it did not cause CRAMPING or any stomach discomfort during the "act". I will never use anything else again. It did take two doses because I was so backed up.

You Stopped! I know you feel depressed and scared right now, because you feeled like you failed, but you have to remember that you stopped yourself after a few bites. You could have ate the entire thing, because I am sure you were hungry enough! Give yourself a break. This is a new start...a new life. Don't go into the old habits of calling yourself "stupid", it took a lot of courage to start this journey, and it is going to take a lot of strength to see it through. You have come to the right place. I find a lot of comfort at LBT, because someone is always here to lend an ear. When ever I think about eatting I go to the before and after photos in the main forum and that takes my mind off of food. It gives me the hope and will power I need to keep going. Keep posting it helps. I hope my advice helps you.

My surgery was a week ago bandages are starting to look like crap; some are half on some are half off (does that make any sense?) I have a band-aid on one of my openings. Good thing I am seeing my doctor tomorrow, because I am a mess! I think the itchy part is normal when your scabbing over. I am just SUPER impressed that you went back to work for 12 hours, and lost 18 pounds to boot!

I wanted to respond to the dreaded "PAIN" question. It seems to vary from person to person. When I woke up from my surgery I told them I was in pain so that they would give me a pain killer right off the bat. (I didn't want to wait and see what happens.) During the car ride home every little bump on the road made me want to scream! However, as the days progressed the pain has gotten easier to manage-thanks to the advice of LBT. I take pain killers, sip, sleep, and walk. IMHO it is very frustrating to be the odd man out-in the pain dept. It seemed to me that most people had just a little to no pain. I kept thinking, "what is wrong with me?" But then I remembered that every experience is massively different...and what I call pain may be a walk in the park for someone else! You will be happy to know that I am sleeping 8 hours a night, and starting today (cross my fingers) drinking everything on my meal plan. I am in this to "lose" it! So, for all those going in to get your band later this month...I will be there standing with you. If you are uncomfortable in anyway...remember that you are strong for undertaking such a task. My biggest advice to you is: rest, read LBT, Walk, sip, and hire a maid (ok I am joking about the last one, but wouldn't that be fun?)

I am 7 days post-op and I feel your pain. I just grit my teeth and work through it. I spend my days getting Protein in my body, and believe me I am sick of Protein drinks. But I paid $15,000 for this band and I am not going to break it in a moment of weakness. food is just food...that is all it is. We are much stronger than food. Just get through one day at a time...remember we all can do this. Thousands of people have done this before us...it's our turn now.

I forgot to introduce myself...HOW RUDE!
cookielover posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
:opps2: So I have been cruising :car: around this website, and just throwing my two bits and smiley faces every where I pleased,:blabla: but I never went to the introductions and told you who I am. Shame, shame, shame! My name is Amy. I live Canada:canada: with my husband David and 10 year old daughter Holly. I am a part-time accounting student, and full-time "go-to-coffee-with-friends" person.:tea: Currently I took the semester off to have the lap band surgery, because I am a big baby. I got the lap band for the same reason you got (or getting) the lap band- I need to lose a boat load of weight!:fish2: I hate to change my bad eating habits, because of the hunger. Hunger makes me fail at diets. If I am not hungry I will not eat...period. If I am hungry...I WILL eat... period. It is not rocket science; the lap band will be my friend and we will work together and combat hunger. I love all of the advice and wisdom I recieve fom LBT; I don't know where I'd be without it.:frusty: (Probably rocking back and forth in my bathroom asking my husband if he thinks this normal or that is normal...what does he know abot a lapband anyway? ) So I'll see you around and I hope during my journy I not only lose weight I gain friends in the process!
