I want my ticker to be an exercise ticker. I am not so much interested in weight loss as I am in exercise. So starting November 1st I will put an exercise ticker on my signature. I think during the month of November I will focus on good old fashion walking. Maybe I will start tomorrow....Let me do some calculating....

I ate an egg too! I took me an hour to gulp said egg down, but I did it! That was at 8:00 am this morning. I am still not hungry...it is now 3:30 pm. Imagine what one little egg can do. I also went shopping for my mushy food. I went crazy and spent a lot of money, and I probably can't eat what I bought but I was just thrilled to be shopping again! Ashley- I am glad that you are feeling better and eating more. Maybe this weekend you can rest and eat, rest and eat, rest and eat. (What a life, huh?) You'll be right as rain before you know it. Take care my friend.

Hey Crazy4jags- I know what you mean about making an enterance. Sometimes I get a sting when I see how big I am in the picture, and then I shrug it off. I tell myself I am really not that big. It must be the clothes I am wearing. I have a million excuses. I think I like being kind to myself; it is always better than the alternative. I do have to admit that when I am thinner and there are no more excuses I will be much happier.

Jello Hater- Maybe you need more calories to work and recover. It is just a thought. 450 calories is very low, and if you are active maybe your body is saying, "feed me." I get headaches and dizziness when I am famished. During this recovery time I have been eating full fat cream soups, full fat yogurts, and full fat pudding. I get about 1000 calories. My doctor said this time wasn't about losing weight this time was about healing.

Right now I can drink a 12 oz protein drink made with water and ice no problem. It fills me up. I am happy and full. I drink a lot of protein; it is my main staple. It will help get me through these last 2 days of liquids without going nuts and eating the cat. (I am just joking I would eat the dog first he has more meat on him.) Is anyone else drinking a lot or am I the only one? I also find that I feel more hungry with each passing day. I am not sure I could sit down and eat a full meal, but I am snacking on low cal yogurt and pudding here and there. Or I am adding an extra protein drink when needed. I have a very limited diet plan, but I am finding very hard to stick to now that I am hungry. I am sticking to the items and most of the time the quainties, but I am eating more frequently, snacking, and adding additional meals. Right now I am consuming about 1200 calories. Ouch! Is anyone else experiencing these issues? Or should I just give up and start chowing down on the pets?<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig --> __________________ <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->

Thanks for the invite Doddie! When do you meet? -
I just wanted to check in and see how everyone's hunger level was, and what their restriction was like. Right now I can drink a 12 oz Protein drink made with Water and ice no problem. It fills me up. Oh yuck! I totally relate to your pain. I took them at their words when they said "minimally invasive": liars. I felt totally “invasived”. I think they had the entire zoo trample on my stomach during surgery. I am 13 days post-op and if I do too much in a day I feel it at night. What really helped me was taking my pain meds and shuffling down the road in my pjs. My neighbours thought I was in labor! I guess it was the pained look on my face and my bloated belly. Take it easy, don’t be superwoman. This is the first time in my entire life that I ever “took it easy” and I am so thankful that I did. I hope you feel better soon. They say that by the 5th day you do turn a magic corner. For me it was day 7.

Guilt? I don't feel that much guilt, but I can't find my pets. I think they are hiding in the closet. I'd better go and find them and make sure they are safe. I really just am making sure that this is normal...I know that I am the millionth person to ask this question but for the sake of my dog and cat...they are begging you... *For all the animal activitist: I normally wouldn't resort to consuming my pets, but I didn't go shopping. And it is highly unlikely that I will, because I am "attached" to them, but the neighbours cat better watch out!

Carrot you just do whatever feels comfortable for now. You may get hungry later, and you will be needing the protein like crazy. You will know when that happens. Just listen to your body. That is what I am doing.

I have a serious but kind of gross question!

Hi Everyone I have been banded for 5 days. I haven't been able to have a bowel movement for one week. It was getting pretty intense down there. So last night my body decided it was time. The only problem was I haven't been taking in any fiber so that has caused a major backup. Without going into too much detail I gave birth in 33 minutes I was in the bathroom for 3 hours. I had to work with the same intensity of giving birth to get the "job" done. So I would say that giving birth was way easier. Just so you know this is SO embarassing to write down, but I totally need the feedback... My abs are sore, and we won't even discuss my bu...never mind. My port is on the left of my belly button, and 3 of the incisions are in the same row. They don't hurt, or feel different, but is there a possibility with all that intense pushing and heaving that I may have disrupted the port? Has this happened to anyone else this early in the game? Do you think I should be concerned? -
I love that you are back Carrot! Are you feeling any better yet?
-
I am on the strained-cream-soup-yogurt-pudding diet plan. Yup and that is where I will stay for the next 4 days. Yuck. I hate cream soup! But it is better than broth and Jell-O. I hate cottage cheese just for the record...oh how am I going to get through mushies without cottage cheese.....

I was getting worried about you Carrot. I am glad that you are some what feeling better. Hang in there you are doing a great job. The times they are a changing. Just remember not to force yourself too soon back to work. Glad you are back.

Hey Carrot your back! Now that is good news!

Hey to everyone who has been banded so far: When you start feeling more like yourself write it down and give and update, so that the people that come after us can share our stories of hope! I'll go first: Well today is day 6 for me and I am feeling much better thank you very much. I have engery and I am not gasping for air. I think what helped the most and aided my recovery is that I was able to add milk products to my diet and gain more calories. Now I don't know what every one else did, but I opted for non-low fat cream of Soups and 2% milk, because they are more filling. I am out of my PJs and I feel great! I didn't believe it when I read it from other people on the board, but it does happen! Also the gas pain has drastically reduced, which calls for a yippy. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Do you live in BC but were banded elsewhere?

[quote=hellvez;575105 also nobody use dr.woodhead he is kind of a scam he will charge you 400 bucks just for a consult also for a fill he charges 400 even if he does not find you're port. also when you call his "office" somebody just answers Doctors office seemed very shady to me Now I would tell everybody do not use Dr.woodhead I just wanted to say that Dr. Woodhead is my doctor. I did a lot of research before I picked him. He charges a $400.00 consultation fee, because he spends the time getting to know you. He spent an hour and a half with me. (Now I was getting the band, so it may be different for a fill.) That is a heck of a lot of time for a surgeon to spend with a patient, and he doesn't get paid by BC med. My follow-up care is for life. For the first year I see him monthly so he can monitor my progress and make sure I am doing ok. (even if I don't get a fill) Speaking of fills- they are included for life. I could have gotten the surgery within 4 weeks of my consult. As for his receptionist she always answers the phone, "Dr. Woodhead's office..." maybe it was a bad connection. I would highly recommend Dr. Woodhead.:clap2: -
Stomach Growling but not hungry....
cookielover replied to abckids's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yup the growling is normal. My tummy won't quiet down. Sometimes I really am hungry and sometimes I am not. My stomach is now more entertaining than the television. -

:update: Milk of magesia is my new best friend! There was no cramping, and no stomach churning. Best of all it was a complete success. This message board is so WONDERFUL! I can't thank everyone enough! -
Mine fell off. I wish they hadn't, because ever since then my port has been bugging me.

Oct. 15 soon to be banded..check in here.
cookielover replied to fluffyinks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey to all those who are getting banded tomorrow GOOD LUCK! You have waited so long, and your wait is finally over. Your journey is just beginning. Remember to rest, sip, and walk. We can't wait to hear from you all when you are feeling better! -
I don't think you over-reacted at all. Your family has a the ability to eat what ever they want to. I think it was very insensitive for them to eat your food. pudding is yummy, but your family has to show some self control. I have a 10 year old daughter and a husband, and a fridge full of yogurt and pudding and they have not touched the stuff. I did not have to explain to them that this was "mine", or put it on a "special" shelf. They understand that this is all I can eat. I offer my daughter pudding and she will graciously take it, but she will not help her self. So yes, I would have been so angry. I think it is your family that should be giving you the "hugs". Remember this is your time to recover and heal. Your family needs to get with the program.

I have a simple solution...I didn't buy a scale. I use the one at my doctors office. He is a 2 hour drive away, so it would be a pain in the butt to go and weigh myself daily. For the first year he requires that all patients see him once a month, so I just get a weigh in at that time. My first weigh in I lost 16 pounds. I went from 245 to 229. I skipped the 30's all together...that felt amazing! I NEVER have to see those 30's on a scale again. I spent the last 2 years dieting and never got out of the 30's, so I was pleased as punch just to "skip" them. I also figure it this way: I don't have to deal with the tiny ups and downs of weight change. In a month I will lose weight, so I will feel good about my success. I don't have to deal with going up one day and feeling bad, or "just" losing a pound and feeling terrible. I did this so I would never have a bad day over my weight again. I know my thinking is not popular, but it works for me.
