Pre-Op Preparation and Post-Op Commitment
PLUUSGRL replied to DelayedGratification's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great question. Great response. For me , one day I just had an ah-ha moment. I am a helper of anybody who needs help and one day I looked in the mirror and thought, "how can you expect someone else to defeat their demons/addictions when you can't even face or defeat yours (food)". I started my journey that day. After much research and praying I decided that wls was the best thing for me and my family. -
Central Mississippi? River Oaks Transformations Program?
PLUUSGRL replied to PLUUSGRL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! Great to have someone else here that is in the Transformations program. The jury is still out for me on the issue of me having met my 6 month diet plan. I am going to get my pcp records and try to have the surgeon submit them for insurance approval next week just to know where I stand. At the most I have 3 more months to go. I have my 6 months in but I had other health issues while going through and those issues kind of took precedence over the weight loss so the weight loss plan may not be documented well enough for BCBSMS. I have done my psych evaluation and will hopefully have my pcp recommendation letter next week. I have a meeting with the surgeon or his np next week as well. Wish you luck on your journey. -
Thank you all for your responses. I feel a little more at ease now.

Im still pre-op and wondering who I can tell. Most people are so judgmental when it comes to gastric bypass. You would think they would be more worried about your health. I kind of think that some people feel safe being around the "fat" person in the room. It makes them feel better about themselves. When the "fat" person that they are with a lot is no longer fat they feel it forces people to look at their flaws, insecurities and health issues. I have told my husband and one friend at work of my decision to have surgery. This will probably be my only support group along with you guys on the forum. I would say tell who you feel will support you, but don't lie. If those who you have told don't support you and are negative don't let it get you down. Find support.elsewhere. Hope this helps.
