    Dissapointment.

I got my new surgery date! February 24th. I had my band removed November 4th and I had a problem with one of my incisions. I'm still packing it 2 months later. It's almost healed and I pray it doesn't happen with my bypass surgery. It's a pain in the butt to change the dressing and pack it 4 times a day.i can't wait for my surgery day.

    One Surgery or Two?

I just had my band removed November 4th. I was supposed to get my bypass at the same time only to wake up and have them tell me I couln't have the bypass at that time. I cried and was mad. Then my surgeon explained it and I'm glad she put my safety first. She said if they did it and cut above where the band was it could be very dangerous for me and if the cut below where the band was then the pouch would be too big and I wouldn't benefit from it. She said I had too much scar tissue from the band removal and my stomach was not strong enough and it would cause leaks. The stomach has to be cut where the band was and they have to make a hole for the re-routed intestine. My stomach wall is too thin and weak because of the band removal and that could end in disaster even death. So that being said I'm glad she put my life before my wants or her money. She said mid January but I'm going to take my grandson to Disney Feb 8th for a week so we decided on the end of February to the biginning of March so I can enjoy Disney. I was approved for both so i gues when i have it in March i won't need another approval. Not all Dr's will do it all at once for the saftey of their patients. I've read also that if we wait to have it after band removal we will have better results. Good luck, I hope this helps.

    Help!

I had my band out Nov 4th. Trying to decide between the sleeve and bypass. Dr said I may only lose another 10 lbs with sleeve and 20 with bypass because I already lost 30% of my weight with the band. Have any of you band to sleeve revisioners experienced low weight loss? Very confused on what to do.

    Dissapointment.

Hi everyone. I am writing this so some of you won't be disappointed. I went in for my band to bypass revision yesterday (Monday) and I was so excited. When I was in recovery they told me the bypass didn't happen. When they went to remove the band there was a lot of scar tissue an tears so they removed the band and closed me up. It would have been dangerous for them to do it cause they needed to cut where the band was, of course I started crying. I can have it in 6 weeks but my surgeon will be on Christmas vacation and she is talking January. With Obama care I have to reapply for insurance and I may have to start the process all over again. Good luck yo all of you.

    Stop Watching Me....

I think that is very rude! If they are on the heavy side to them "if you watched what you ate as much as you watch what I eat you probably wouldn't look like that." I too chose to tell very few. I think only my husband, 3 ,my sister and favorite cousin know. the rest of my family is very judge mental and so are my in-laws so they won't know a thing. I'm being revised from the lap band to the bypass November 4th. I know some folks will call me a failure and I don't need or want to hear that. The band failed me. I only lost 30 pounds in 2 years and have stayed there since then. Can't wait for my surgery date to get here.

    Unsupportive Family

I'm so sorry your family isn't supportive of your decision to get healthy. Have you asked them why they won't support your decision? I think they are just scared that you will be the skinny one in the family and then it will make the rest of them look bad. You have chosen to do the right thing for you and it's NOT really their choice so I wouldn't sweat it. We here on RNY talk can be your new supporting family if you'll let us. You can bounce anything off of us and we'll be here for you. You can email me any time if you want someone to talk to one on one at dviveiros56@gmail.com. Good luck with your surgery and wash your hands of the toxic people in your life.
