Newbie here with a question!
patticake1448 replied to sbailey1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had done a ton of research and was set on getting the sleeve. Both my doc and NUT recommended the bypass. Both because of my type 2 diabetes and because it's the "gold standard" of WLS. To be honest, i changed to bypass at the last minute. I wasnt entirely comfortable with my decision, but now feel confident i made the right choice. I only want to go thru this process once, so im glad i picked the surgery with the best track record. Btw, i dont dump and am happy i can enjoy a little goodie now and then. Good luck to you! -
Woo Hoo! Finally made it to onederland after gastric bypass surgery on 9/25. I lost 20 pounds on my lovely (NOT) pre-op diet, and another 30 in the three months since surgery. I'm thinking I'm a pretty slow loser, but I'll take it. I'm almost halfway to goal! This is the first time I've been in onederland for decades. This website has been a Godsend, and I so appreciate all the support I've received here. HUGS and good luck to you all!

How much is too much?
patticake1448 replied to prettyletty's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Im the same way..never had any problems with drinking, either. I gulp a lot, never did sip. Drank 30 ounces of water one week post op thru a straw with no problem. We are lucky to have one less thing to worry about:-) -

I'm three months out from Gastric Bypass surgery and have discovered, for better or worse, that I do not dump. I absolutely love chocolate, and have mixed feelings now that I know I can eat it with no problem. For the past couple of weeks, I've had a little chocolate almost every day. A Hershey kiss or two. So far, I'm still losing, and much happier that I can still eat chocolate. I feel like I can control myself around chocolate better than before surgery (so far). It seems like I'm the only person on these boards that "cheats" regularly. Am I?

Thanks so much to all of you who took the time to post such supportive messages and offer your insight and great advice! I'm going to print this thread out so I can really look at what each of you said. I learned a lot from most of you and so appreciate your support and kindness! So far, eating a little chocolate has saved me from feeling deprived and bingeing. I do log every day, and have been able to fit a little chocolate in after my Protein. I also do cardio 4 days a week til I burn at least 600 calories as well as lifting weights 2-3 times a week. I'm down 50 pounds as of today, almost half way there! Thanks so much to (most of) you for your kind support, you really warmed my heart! Good luck and God Bless! -

I'm 10 1/2 weeks post op and have been very blessed in that I can eat almost anything with no problem. My issue is that I really don't eat dairy (no reason, just don't like eggs, cheese, cottage cheese or yogurt). I do drink milk, but I know we are supposed to try to get our Protein from real food instead of shakes. I'm so sick of eating meat three meals a day! Don't really feel like eating it in the morning, and can only come up with so many ideas on what to cook. If I'm sick of eating this way after a few weeks, I'm scared of how I'll adapt to this new eating plan for life. I sure would appreciate any help any of you can offer. Mahalo!
