    No Complications

@@Martene81, Yes, keep us posted, girl!
  2. @@Joebravo, OK, that's deep and I think the second statement is where the issue is. Weight loss is bound to bring up a myriad of emotions, fears, doubts. We are all afraid of going back. I lost 140 pounds without surgery previously and I found myself back here, having gained back all but 45 pounds. Even after having moments of *KNOWING* that I would never go back. The reality is that is a journey and it is one day, one meal, one bite at a time. There is no permanence in surgery, its only a tool for those who decide to use it everyday. Maybe on the other side this may fuel you to be of service to others in a way that only you are capable. Harness your emotions to complete your own transformation.

@@cmblackmon35, Me, too. The gastric sleeve is very popular these days. As technology advances, I think we will keep seeming different procedures. Bariatrics is an interesting field of medicine. Anyhow, welcome!

    No Complications

@@goodnuff, I work at a level one trauma center for an Orthopedic surgeon!! Maybe our minds just start at the worst case scenario and then digs itself out from there. My stars! It got better the closer I was to the surgery.

    No Complications

@@Martene81, I was crazy with worry until about a month before my procedure. I just knew I would be some new breed of human in which the gastric bypass would not work. In addition, I was going to die from anesthesia so it didn't matter anyway. And if by some stroke of luck I made it out alive, I was going to be permanently paralyzed from hair loss, broken bones due to losing the mineral density in my bones due to the malabsorption!!!! My mind was insane! As I said this process has been great! I hate being nauseous and I told my doc to send me home with strong anti nausea meds! I've used them once, when I *thought* I was getting nauseous. My nose has gotten sensitive so it has pretty much been spot on with what NOT to eat. If it sounds or smells like a bad idea then it probably is. I just go with that now. Many people don't have complications with the sleeve and some do. I've have 3 people with sleeves tell me they wish they had had the bypass. All do to GERD and reflux complications. There are pros and cons and risks to every surgery. The benefits should outweigh risks. Success can be achieved with any surgery. Good Luck!

    No Complications

I'm coming too! By grace, I've had no complications. Everything about this process has been smooth sailing. Fingers crossed. I have to make sure the first few bites of food are slow slow slow otherwise I'm fine. I haven't eaten anything that would cause dumping yet but if it did happen I would consider it a perk not a complication. LOL I consider myself very lucky. Whatchu calling this island?

    Regret

Suspend all decisions until the 6 month mark. At least that's what I decided to do. I had significant pain after surgery and i still spit up if something hits wrong and I'm eating to fast. Sometimes I have morning sickness. Sometimes I just wanna eat cheeze-its. I do feel like things are getting back to normal. I'm back at work. Give it time. Things will get better. This too shall pass.
  17. well, I think I'm a low loser over here. I think a lot depends on how fast you are loosing, start weight, the procedure, start weight, age, your bodies metabolic relationship with crash dieting, how effective your exercise is for your specific needs. I weigh myself weekly (a watched scale never drops) and I'm 7 weeks out. I only lost .9 pounds this week with a previous average of 2-3. I've also crash dieted, its the week before my cycle and I'm approaching 40. So, I just decided to Celebrate like a boss my percentage of a pound like I was on Biggest Loser! LOL

    I want to eat

@@armywife79, I typically hate anecdoctal stories about *other* people who've have WLS but my cousin had the bypass many years ago. She struggled with drug addiction as well. How she passed a psych eval is really beyond me but that's neither here not there. Anyways, she lost all but 40 of the pounds she wanted to loose and stayed there for many years. up and down just a bit. not consistent and she did have a couple of relapses in there. but they started her on the topomax and she instantly dropped the last 40 pounds and has been doing very well since...
