    Fitbit

I use fitbit to track steps obviously. I have the alarms set every hour (which actually vibrates on my arm-hard to ignore). It reminds me to fill my water bottle at work. I will probably upgrade to the newer models that track hear rate in the upcoming year. I also have the Aria scale which syncs with fitbit and you can sync your myfitnesspal account with fitbit to have better calorie tracking. If you are looking for a daily workout app, I would try Bodybot. It will give you a daily workout based on your goals and if you workout at home or at a gym....it send an email daily and give you get exercises.

I'm an 8 minute drive from Greenlake. I'm a 9-5er and doing a bypass in 4 weeks. I can get around the lake at a pretty good clip, too. If you don't find a sleever, I'm happy to join you or a group....

  12. I am glad you are seeing someone that specializes in eating disorders. It will never make sense to me why people who have NO experience with eating disorders get to make decisions about surgery for people who have them. My guess is that even bariatric doctors don't understand them. A lot of us on here have patterns of disordered eating that obviously have not served us....My other question is do you 'believe' your diagnoses are accurate/up-to-date? Sometime whats in the chart is just what's in the chart. Idk just some thoughts.... I too worry about maintaining a 'lifestyle' for myself. I have a long history of ADD which typically acts out as being able to be totally rigid for a long while and then falling off and unable to follow a program....my hope is that with the surgery hormones will be regulated and adjusted which will make continuing easier....I read somewhere that brain function is improved with WLS in an article on this site.... Good luck to you, keep us posted....

The next Seattle Meetup (North) is at Lyons Den Cafe in Bothell Sun.1/25 at 3PM. More details to come soon. Its a drive from Skagit, but we'd welcome just the same! @@jjinWA I was looking for your email...PM about how MX went!!
  14. I'm Thurs 1/15, too! Pre-op starts 1/1. I'm a little nervous, I doubt I'll back out. I made it through the 6 month supervised diet, the consult, the NUT and the Psych eval. I just need my pre-op appointment and I'm in like Flynn! Let me go call these folks!
  15. @@flavaofbravery, I just wanted to add (and if its not appropriate, I can accept that) that one) I 100% support everyone who feels/thinks WLS may be for them. No question. And two) I also support you getting a 2nd and 3rd opinion. One thing I just wanted to say is that I would advise you not put the energy out there that being "emotionally disabled" as you say is something that you can't do anything about. This is safe space for ppl to speak about there issues but I just wanted you to know that healing from past emotional traumas is possible, depending on the severity. I'm sure you've been to gobs of therapy, but you've got to let the next bariatric team know that you are capable, ready to go through your trauma to see it to the other side, that you are resilient, that you are believing and actively working toward emotional healing whether you have the surgery or not. I think you may have accidentally presented WLS as your 'solution' and you need to make it very clear to everyone that you will be using this as a 'tool' in conjunction with support groups, therapy, water-based physical therapy until you can move more etc etc I really really hope you can somehow get this surgery. PS, I can tell by your handle that you get what I'm talking about!

  19. They make it seem kinda grave, though. Its good for 6 months from now BUT if I back out I cannot request bariatric surgery of any kind for THREE YEARS. At that point, I would have to re-do all the requirements again. Phew! OK, good thing I'm not planning on backing out!

"You took the easy way out"

Well, I thought I'd chime in here and folks won't agree with me at first BUT like someone hinted to above, having a surgery will make the process of loosing weight EASIER not easy. But the body will respond and be able to take advantage of advanced technology in the area of weight loss/bariatrics. We use smart phones, we use apps to get rides, we use apps to borrow vehicles, we don't wash our dishes by hand (well I do, no dishwasher here). In every area of modern life its acceptable to utilize technology to MAKE LIFE EASIER....why is it necessary for everyone to "Biggest Loser" a weight loss, I will never understand.
  22. @@Jolisue, Thank you for saying that. I need to stay in reality about my situation. This surgery is not going to cure my head and that's where my crazy thoughts, rationalizations and madness lives!!! LOL...I am on the hunt for a therapist, I have 2 support groups and I just hope I don't get into self sabotage. Everyone talks about how excited they are to be thin and I've been thinner before after loosing 140 pounds and I have to say it was in addition to thrilling it was one of the scariest experiences of my life. Having been overweight the majority of my life and then suddenly being in a small body had such a weird and unfamiliar feeling. I think I secretly wanted to put back on some pounds and go back into hiding, get less attention, not feel that electric zing when bones would start appearing and rubbing against each other....hence the therapist and support group. Glad to hear about your success!
