You know, I went a different way with this. I've been very open with having GBP surgery. I have found the people at work to be very very supportive (and I work in a call center with 600+ employees). When we have rewards my bosses with bring me a healthier option, instead of candy. When we had to go on a working business trip my fellow employees helped me lug around my protein drinks, protein bars, hummus, etc. I have found that people are interested and it's opened up many conversations with others who have considered the surgery. I have a special place in my heart for all of these obese friends of mine. I have had several complications from the surgery (4 strictures, scar tissue removal, hernia repair. I live almost daily with pain in my left side under the rib cage so they've seen my battles). I will be extremely honest that if I could go back I would NEVER have the surgery but now it's done and I have to take one day at a time to get through. BTW in case you're wondering I'm 14 mos post-op and down 137 lbs. I now weigh 129 lbs and I'm considered underweight now! Don't be afraid or embarrassed to tell others you had surgery! By NO MEANS is this the "easy way out"! :-)

Family is still suffering from complications of RNY
Jennie_B replied to PiRatFamily's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
M.A. Cruz said: Sorry to hear this. Its scary and is making me double guess the RNY. In my opinion your best bet is going public with the mainstream media. Contact everyone and anyone that's involved in with the media. The story will get around and hopefully to the ear of some people that may be able to help. This actually sounds like a great idea! There are so many doctors world-wide that would hear about this! Your privacy would be out the window, however, if you could get a dr that could actually help would be soooo worth it! Your Hubby (and your family) need a break here and this just might be the perfect outlet! -

I think I ticked off my pouch :(

I should've said resolving the problem is not a big deal...the stricture however is a big deal. -

Lisa I had that problem at 7 weeks out and I had a stricture. I would suggest you call your doctor right away. Mine was so small I cold only get down liquids. The thickness of my protein shakes gave me nausea and vomiting. They had to go in 4 times to open mine. Not a big deal, but definitely needs to be dealt with. Date of surgery 7/18/12.
