Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
nicnaknut replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Lap Dancer.... So sorry that you are going through such emotional times.... Abuse is one of those things that is very hard to escape from, but you will do it and be a much better person than your Mom and Sister ever could be... Leaving their bonds behind you and going on with a fulfilling life is your ticket to freedom from bondage.... You go Girl!! Wow Marcy.... You look great even in your chicken clothes.. I agree with Mal, it looks like more than 21 lbs lost... Dynamo.... A downtown coffee shop sounds like it could be a good venue to sell your art work. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you will get lot's of sales.... :clap2: -
Mexico...here I come!!!!! (I think!!)
nicnaknut replied to BlueEyedKitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello Joyce, I am going to Dr Kirshenbaum in Denver, Colorado he charges a little more that the Dr's in Mexico. He comes very highly recommended and charges $9950 for everything with 3 months follow up care.. His staff are great people to talk to and are very helpful with any questions... Dr K is a sweetheart and explains everything about the lap band and surgery... I just wanted to mention Dr K to you as an option to explore on your lap band journey... There is a link to Dr K's web site at the bottom of my signature, if you are interested.... Good Luck.. -

HELLO, any oldies out there? I'm almost 63 and want to live.
nicnaknut replied to FatAttack's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Kat..... That is the greatest information... Thank you soo much for posting it. I am writing some of the tips down, simply because they are good info.... This is not related to anything, but I think I read somewhere where you go to Red River over Memorial Day for the bike rally and I was wondering how many years have you been doing that??? I had a very good friend that went there every year and in 2003-2004 he was hit and killed on his bike by a 16 year old kid without a drivers license.. His fiance lost a leg and his buddy on his bike was killed also and his wife sustained severe head injuries.... His nickname was Dancer and his real name was Les Walker and he was from Salida, Colorado. Just wondering if you knew him... -

Wow Claramae..... You sure have had a bad go at it with your hips.. Hopefully the weight loss from the band will help relieve some of the pressure on your hips. God Bless your wonderful hubby, he sure has been a lot of help for you... My hubby has been a sweetheart as well. He pretty much has done the same things yours has, so the thought of possibly going fishing instead of vacuuming has him pretty happy.. He is 100% behind me on this. Along with the pain in my knees, hips and ankles my big belly gets in the way of everything. I can't even put my socks on.. I wear Crocs shoes for comfort and can slide them on.. I also have emphysema/COPD along with other health problems from being obese. I cannot walk very far before I'm out of breath and I'm hoping that the weight loss and getting rid of the big belly will help take the pressure off of my lungs so I can breath a little bit better... Plus, I want to go and do things with my grandchildren while they are young and growing up... Gosh, I just realized that your surgery is tomorrow... Good Luck and GOD BLESS you... I will be thinking of you and keep you in my prayers... Please lets us know as soon as you feel up to it how things went.... -

pvchickie..... Thank you so much for sharing that beautiful poem with us.. I copied it down because I want to keep it close by so I can look at it often... Congrats on your band date... We are happy to have you as a member of the TENacious TENS...... -
Wow Kat... Small world.. I have a granddaughter that lives in Rifle, one in New Castle and my oldest daughter lives in Eagle... I been over to Ridgeway and the Meeker areas. Meeker is a fun place when they have the sheep dog runs. I still have lots of family in Denver, Englewood, and Littleton, so I have traveled over the mountain quite a bit to see them.. My youngest daughter and her family are the only ones in Grand Junction. The rest are spread around... Ahh, the Rose.... It was a good place to go and scoot a boot, but it changed hands and isn't the same.... Ready.... Yes, Grand Junction haas really grown, especially since you left in 99.. There are only a hand full of farms left, they have all been bought up and subdivisions put in.... Where in Tennessee are you? My dad's side of the family is from Chattanooga...

Hey Lori..... After you select and design your ticker and glitter you will need to cut and paste the code from the web site into your signature in your control panel... If you have any problems trying to figure it out, just give another holler and I will help as much as I can.... Good Luck

Dynamo... Thank you very much for the invitation on the 11th at Red Robin.. However, I won't be able to make it as I am currently out of town and won't return until the 14th of October.. (My surgery date is October 16th.) I will be in Denver until the end of November and I would very much like to meet up with all of you at the November monthly.... BetsyJane.... Thanks for the information on the mindful eating and using the small plates and utensils... I am a fast eater too and I can really use any suggestions on how to slow down... Who's getting a face lift??? You better bet that I will be standing in that line when I get to my goal weight. I know that my jowels and neck skin will be a saggin and a baggin and I'm all for nice and tight.. Along with a tummy tuck and a nice perky boob job.... :biggrin1: I'm saving my pennies right now for all of that stuff... All of it may be farther down the road than I would like, but what the heck I gotta dream...... Hope everyone has a great week...:clap2: -
Hey Ready.... How long ago did you live in Fruita and Palisade? I actually lived in Glade Park. but no one knows where that is, so I just say Grand Junction...

Wowee Gayle and Claramae... Your stories sound awfully familiar... The only thing is that I am not a diabetic (YET).. My DH is so understanding when it comes to me walking and stopping to rest, helping with the housework, etc... I am soooo happy to hear that I can live a normal life again and not have as much pain.... I can hardly wait until I can participate in my grandchildren's activities instead of trying to find excuses of why I couldn't make it.. God Bless all of you and wishing great success on your weight loss journey.. -
Hi everyone... I'm from Colorful Colorado.. The western side.. Grand Junction, Colorado.... It's a beautiful place to be... Love my "Rocky Mountains"... Lets get this PARTY started! Oct 07!
nicnaknut replied to OregonHolly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Welcome Signgirl to the TENacious TENS!!! Halloween is a great day to get banded.. I even thought about that date myself, but I'm too anxious to get it done so I opted for the 16th of October.... Come on over to our other thread that's been started for the TENacious TENS group.. It is under "Monthly Support Groups" and the thread is called "We are the TENacious TENS". You should find us all over there... Good Luck to you and Welcome.. -
The TENaciousTENS welcomes all Oct 07 bandsters!
nicnaknut replied to OregonHolly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Holly... Boy do I hear ya on the exercise.. I tell myself everyday that I'm going to do some walking and I only get in about 2100-3500 steps according to my pedometer, when I should be getting in 10,000 or more.. Right now I am more or less coasting until the 1st of October when I start my liquid diet... My DH and I are retired and spending the summer out here in the San Francisco, California area. We went touring last Wednesday and I could hardly walk anywhere, we kept having to stop so I could rest. When we got home that night I told myself that I would drink a couple of Protein shakes every day and walk, walk, walk.... Well the first day was good, but since then I've been a little lax... My hips and feet get to hurting so bad and on good days I can only walk about the length of a football field and back and then I'm done... That is so pitiful especially when I was very athletic in school and in my young adult years I was a dancer... Does walking or exercise affect your hips and such like mine do? I am wondering if it is directly related to my weight or if there is another underlying problem.. That is good that the visit to your dietitian went well even though you already knew what she said... This is the greatest site to learn from, plus have the most wonderful support system around... I will be having my consultation with the dietitian the end of September.. I have already had my phone consult with my Dr, so I pretty much am set as far as what he wants me to do prior to surgery and that is just do the liquid diet 10 days before my surgery day... I sure am glad that I don't have to do a 4 week pre-op exercise program. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to make it... They would have to start off very gently with me.... I am very angry with myself for getting so out of shape and so much overweight... :huggie: But I am sooooo happy I am getting the band.... Keep me posted on how your exercise program is working.... -
Hey Mindy... This is off the subject but my oldest daughter is Mindy K... I saw your name up there and of course it caught my eye.. Nice name:)

Hey Holly... Great idea for doing this thread. I was thinking about doing it, but your first thread "Let's get this party started" is getting pretty active and I thought we could direct them over to the "TENacious TENS" thread from there. But what the heck, if we can get them there with help from this one that's all the better.... BTW, my real name is Bobbie.... and my oldest grandaughter's name is Holly...
