I'm so sorry that you are going through the negative attitude from your husband.... This is such an exciting time in your life and it is nice to have the people close to you be supportive... However, we are all here for you and always ready to give you an "Atta Girl"" and big (((((Hugs)))))... If you are able to buy things online, you can go to GNC.com and buy your Protein powder from there. I used to live in a very small town that didn't have anything and that is how I used to get the things I needed. I was a big online buyer. lol I use GNC's brand of whey Protein Powder and I like it... I looked it up online and clicked on the 'Sports Nutrition' tab, and then on the left side I clicked on 'Protein' and then 'Whey'.. There are lots of items listed but the ones in the red package are GNC's brand called "Pro Performance", 100% Whey Protein Powder... The 1 lb packages run $14.99 and the 3 lb packages run $25.99 on sale. They have several different flavors as well as an unflavored on that you can put in Soups, etc to get your protein... The flavored ones are mixed in Water and taste pretty good. They work good for your pre-op diet. Good luck to you and we are always here for you....

Wow rabid, that's great that your hubby is doing so well after surgery.... Congratulations to him on his surgery..... and Good Luck to you on yours coming up soon.... Please keep us posted on how both of you are doing....

lafs... I bought a Whey Protein powder from GNC... It has 20 grams of protein per scoop and it only takes one scoop per shake.... They carry all kinds, but I bought Banana Cream flavor and it tastes real yummy... It mixes in water pretty good... I'm going back and buy Vanilla, Chocolate and Unflavored.... I bought the Penney's brand of Magic Bullet for $29.99 and it works real well for those shakes..... I just looked online at Penney's and it is still on sale at that price....

I am here to encourage both of you to quit smoking when you feel that you want to.... You are getting banded for your health and you really don't want to have any other health problems by smoking... I smoked for 45 years and quit 2 years ago this Halloween and was diagnosed with emphysema 9 months after I quit. So between my obesity and emphysema, breathing becomes rather difficult at times... I am supposed to be using oxygen, but I don't have any health insurance and I can't afford it on my own..... It is true that you heal much better and faster if you do not smoke, especially with stomach surgery.... I don't know why the stomach is affected with healing differently that any other part of you body, but smoking really does affect it... I used Zyban to help me quit smoking.. I don't know anything about Chantix, but I imagine that they pretty much do the same thing.... The Zyban sure did help me and I would recommend that you try the Chantix... I hope I don't sound like I am preaching because I'm not, I just know what it's like for me to struggle to breath and I don't want anyone else to go through it... Good Luck and Good Health to you on your journey....

If I had a Dr that would not return phone calls, let alone keep appointments, I think I would RUN and not walk to another Dr.... That looks like a BIG RED FLAG to me..... Go talk to another one andlket him know that you are already preapproved by the insurance company and get copies of all your pre op test, etc and submit them to the new Dr... He should accept all of that and do your band for you...

I am feeling the same things as all of you... The anxiety about the what if's but yet anxious to get it done and over with so I can start my new lifestyle, which also gives me anxiety because I worry about eating all of my favorite foods again... It's just crazy mixed up thoughts rolling around in my head....

Grrreat pictures Lap Dancer and littleroo.. We were treated to both ends of the spectrum... One in Florida at sea level and the other in the great Rocky Mountains at 14,000 ft above sea level... Thank you both sooo much for sharing... I just loved the Colorado sunset... (just a tad partial to Colorado and the beauty which lies therein) want2be...... I go in to see Dr K for my pre-op at 2:00 pm on Oct 15th... That would be great if we could meet then... How are you doing post surgery? Still feeeling much pain or is it subsiding a little bit? -

nicnaknut replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hello everyone.... I've gone AWOL for awhile... My surgery is still a month away and I'm trying to stay positive and focused while I am waiting.... It just seems like it is taking forever and I guess I'm getting a little depressed waiting... I want it to happen NOW! dang it!! I have told everyone in my family and friends and they are all very happy and supportive for me... This is so different from all the others of you that I read about... Even my sister and sister-in-law are rooting for me.... :clap2: I am working on a list of items I will need for the pre-op and post-op diets and sundries... I want to buy them within the next couple of weeks because DH and I will be on the road traveling during my two week pre-op diet... I won't be able to make it to the Red Robin meeting in October, but hope to make it to the November one... Want2be... Thank you so much for asking about me... That was sweet of you... I will be in Grand Junction October 8th through the 13th and then onto Denver for the post-op with Dr K on the 15th and surgery on the 16th... Shelbi and Gurlygirl.... Good luck to you on your surgeries and safe travels to both of you..... Hope everyone has a really great week..... :cheer2: -
Wow, what a great group we have going here.... It's so nice to have all of the support... Thanks lizziee for finding and posting the post-op list of things we need to get prior to the surgery... I plan on getting most of these items and having them so my DH doesn't have to go to the store after the surgery for me... RhondaBen... My surgery is scheduled for October 16th, just one day after you... Is there anyone else that is having surgery on the 16th??? Paragirl... That sure is a lot of money for your surgery and yes you are definately worth it... Have thought about looking into another Doctor? I am also self pay and I am going to Dr Kirshenbaum in Denver, CO and he only charges $9950 for everything, or there are several good Doctors in Mexico. To all the other October bandsters, WELCOME and looking forward to sharing the band experience together..... :clap2:

A BIG WELCOME!!!!! Has any others bought clothes too small or bought other things as an incentive to lose the weight??? How about sharing your stories with us... -
HELLO, any oldies out there? I'm almost 63 and want to live.
nicnaknut replied to FatAttack's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
NM Sunshine..... I'm so glad to hear that the surgery went well for you and no complications... Sounds like you are doing well and just have the normal post surgery problems.... From what I have read, you need to walk alot to get rid of the gas and unfortunately it takes awhile for your tummy to lose the swelling and hardness... Good luck on your new journey into bandland... Please keep us posted on your progress.... -

Liquid Vitamins ????
nicnaknut replied to hazeleyegrl1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just bought a bottle of "Liquimax" Complete Nutrition from Costco. It is a liquid vitamin with Antioxidants and Omega 3, 6 & 9. I have not used it or tasted it yet, but it was recommended by another lapband person... It says it is a fruit flavor... I also bought Costco brand "Calcium Chews" chocolate flavored, 500 mg with vitamins D & K... -

Wow Holly, you have said it so perfectly.. We are a TEAM!!! We are all in this together and are all working toward the prize of weight loss and a long healthy life.... Have any of you started on your pre-op diet yet?? If you have how are you doing with it?? Are you able to keep at it or are you cheating?? Please let us know.. -
Happy Saturday everyone.... Hope you all are having a great day.... Carrot.... Welcome to the TENacious TENS, we are happy to have you join our group... Holly.... Just blame it on the boring seminar... lol... So what's wrong with a little 1/2 sandwich twice.. Gosh, it's great to have you back posting with us.... We have missed you... I have to chuckle but at the same time realize how much control food has over all of us when I keep reading about our last supper frenzy... I am soooo struggling with that, especially knowing that I will start my pre-op diet in a couple of weeks... I'm busy cooking and eating everything I can think of... Now I'm stressing out about being able to eat at Thanksgiving... (What can I eat?.. Will I PB?.. Will the turkey or dressing get stuck?.. Can I eat some pumpkin pie?.. What if I eat too much or too fast?) It's just crazy all of the thoughts about food that roll through my head... I keep having these little talks with myself and telling myself to "whoa up girl" and keep your eye on the prize.. (size 10 pants) It works for awhile and then I'm right back at it.... (sigh) Since we will be traveling on the road the 2 weeks prior to surgery, I am hoping that I will be able to stick to the diet better since I won't have so much idle time to think about food... We travel in a motorhome and I help with the navigation, so I have my nose in the maps quite a bit which is a good diversion.... Have a great weekend everyone....

Hello and Welcome Big K to the TENacious TENS groupie.... We are most happy to have you with us.... We are getting a nice diverse group of folks from all over and welcome you from Illinois... -
Very well spoken Jack... I would question a Dr that wanted you to do another diet and fail instead of encouraging you to get the lapband and successfully lose weight.... (Just MHO)

Gall bladder out AND LaPband at the same time?
nicnaknut replied to Hello Kittee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Kittee... I don't know of anyone that has had their gallbladder out and the lapband put in all at the same time.... there are however, several people that have had their gallbladder taken out and then after they heal up from that with no problems then they have the lapband put in... I would listen to my Dr on this one.. Sometimes those things happen.. They are unfortunate, but it is for the best.... -
WTG you two!!!!! That is just to wonderful.... I can hardly wait until my surgery and can start melting..... You two are doing mauvelous dahling.....

A place for bandsters in their 60's
nicnaknut replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Phyllser.... We will be in a couple of places in Arizona this winter.. We will first go to Yuma and be there a month so my DH can get some dental work done in Mexico, then from there we will go to Tucson for about 3 months.. Last winter we spent in Florida...We have really enjoyed being here in northern California and we may come back next summer.. We have heard that Palm Springs is a good place to winter and my son lives in Simi Valley so we thought about going there to be closer to him and the grandkids.. We may do that next year...
