Hey Munchkin..... What did you do to your foot that you need a cast??? :eek: threedogpeople...... PB stands for "Productive Burp".... I went in Tuesday for my first fill and things did not go well.... Since I came in by myself and have needle phobia, I asked Natalie if she would come into the room with me.... I think that my port may have moved since Dr K had a hard time finding it on the first try.... He finally used the ultrasound and found my port and then all went well, but everything prior to that was very, very painfull and I think I squeezed Natalie's hand so hard I could have broken it.... Good luck to all of the new and soon to be banded..... Hugs to all

Dee...... Good luck to you tomorrow on your surgery.... I will be thinking of you..... That is great that Natalie will be there with you, she is a sweetheart... I went in yesterday for my first fill and thank goodness Natalie was in the room with me as the fill was rather difficult and she let me squeeze her hand...... I don't know how much Dr K put in, I guess I should call the office to find out... I feel like I have restriction and hopefully I will start losing weight again, I have been at a standstill for the last couple of weeks.... Sounds like everyone had a nice Thanksgiving... It is good to see all the new people that will be banded soon.... Good luck to all of you.... Wish I could go to the RR with you all but I will be in AZ, out of the cold and into the warm by then. Please post pictures of you all at the RR.....

Munchkin..... You have made the right choice by going to Dr K for your surgery, he is just the kindest most understanding Dr.... everyone in his office are the greatest and all of the people at Crown Point surgery center are top notch... However, I am a little concerned that you are coming by yourself, but hopefully someone here will be able to help you out.... I will be gone to Arizona or I would volunteer to help you out.... Rosey..... I sounds like the meeting on Tuesday was a good one..... It's too bad that one person was so inconsiderate of all the others and monopolized the conversation.... Keep your fingers crossed that they won't show up next month.... Hope everyone has a good weekend.....

It was a great time and we all enjoyed putting our 2 cents worth in on solving all of the world's problems... Actually I think Tied2Bfit is having second thoughts about getting the band after hearing about all of our experiences we've had with our bands... Some of the stories were good, but we had to throw in the bad ones too.... I just hope we didn't scare her too bad..... lol It was a very nice time had by all.... This is a great thread and a much needed thread where anyone can post their thoughts and feelings or share their band journey with us all.... I like the fact that everyone is welcome and will get support from us when in need... Dr K's groupie is growing by leaps and bounds and we all like to be able to post and have someone take notice and reply with support or understanding whether we are a year banded, just a few days banded or soon to be banded and I hope this thread keeps that momentum.... Those are just my thoughts....

Hi Mare.... I'm going to try my hardest to be there Tuesday night... Those were some nice pictures of your Saturday afternoon get together, just the four of you... Lap Dancers post with all of the wonderful fall colors were great.... It sounds like she had a turn around trip and unfortunately she didn't have access to the internet to let you know she couldn't make it.... Hopefully there will be a larger group on Tuesday.... I'm looking forward to seeing you again... BTW, I'm doing great after my surgery and have lost 20 lbs so far, so I am pleased... I go in for my first fill right after Thanksgiving... I have been busy helping my daughter recover from her surgery, so I haven't been around much.... Want2b...... That story is way too funny about the shock collar..... It could only happen to you... What a hoot.... I would like to meet up with you on Friday while you are in town getting your second fill.... Lets set up a place and time.....

Hi Munchkin...... You may try getting ahold of Marilyn in Dr K's office and she can give you all of the information on lodging, etc... I would also ask her about a shuttle to get you to Dr K's office for your pre-op visit and possibly to the hospital.... Are you sure that your husband won't be able to come with you?? I know some people have had the surgery without the help of a spouse or friend, but it is always better to have someone with you while you are recovering from the surgery and on pain medication... Just from my own experience, my husband was a big, big help... I think you made the right choice to have Dr K do your band surgery... He is a great Dr and the girls in his office are wonderful... I had the best treatmment at the Crown Point surgery Center in Parker, they are with you all the way.... Hopefully someone on this board can be more helpful to you on your lodging and transportation than I was... Good luck to you and welcome to Bandland....

Hey Kelly and all of us Dr K peeps...... This is great, thanks so much for starting it... I am a 59 1/2 year old mom to 4 wonderful kids, grandma to 9 fantastic grandchildren and great-grandma to the cutest most awesome great-granddaughter.. (am I bragging ??? :biggrin1:) I have been married to the sweetest most wonderful guy for 19 years now... We are retired and live and travel full time in our motorhome... I have lived in Colorado all my life, having grown up, married and had my children in the Denver and surrounding areas... In 1985 I moved over to the western slope, met and married my DH and lived and worked in the Grand Junction area until last year when we retired, sold our home and property and hit the road... That's about it for me, except I was so happy to find Dr K and be able to come home to my beautiful Colorado and spend some time with family.... Take care all and I'm looking forward to hearing from other Dr K patients.... :humble::wave:

Hello Everyone..... Just checking in to see when the RR meeting while Lap dancer is in town.... I can make any of them except Saturday at 12:30 as I will be taking care of my daughter while she is recouperating from her surgery she had today.... I can be at the one on the second Tuesday of the month.... I was having pain with my band and I also have a nerve that was bumped from the surgery that is giving me pain on my left side, so I have been having a nice little bitty pity party and was really feeling sorry for myself.... I am doing better now that I went to see Dr K for my left side pain and I decided to go back on liquids and mushies for the last 3 days.... Mare..... Welcome back Mal.... So sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet kitty.... We had one of our little dogs put to sleep last month when we got back to Colorado before my lap band surgery... He was almost 16 years old..... We sure do miss him alot and so does our other dog.... Tanya..... Congratulations on your new baby... Hope you get him home soon.. I'll be watching for a definate date and time for RR....

mss.... I truly admire your approach to self disipline and I like that you give yourself permission to have more in 30 minutes, therefore taking away the guilt of eating too much.. That way you are working with your psycological head hunger rather than fighting against it... Thank you very much for posting your approach... I am going to try it for myself....

I was banded on October 16th and I am right in there with you on the hunger thing.... I got too weak on the liquids and started on the mushies after only one week and I am now eating solids very carefully... I know that it is way too early for the solids, but I just couldn't go on doing the liquids... I went to my Dr for a check up last Thursday and I have lost 4 pounds since surgery, so I guess I am doing ok, but I have to admit that I am pretty hungry and eating more than I should..... I refuse to step on the scale, cause I'm afraid that I may be gaining and I don't want to go in for my first fill until after Thanksgiving, so I can have a nice dinner....

Hello everyone.... It has been awhile since I have checked in to let you all know that I am doing good from the surgery... I went in to see Dr K last Thursday and I have lost 4 pounds since surgery for a total with pre-op of 14 pounds... This weekend we had a family get together and BBQ and I admit that I ate more than I should have, but it was great being with my 3 daughters, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.. It felt so good being back home in Colorado and having everyone together.... want2be.... Sorry to hear that you had that terrible experience with a PB.... I pm'd you my email addy, hope you got it ok... Mare.... Lucky you down there basking in the sunshine and walking along the beach... Wish I was there with you.... Dynamo.... Hello Melissa, Topdowndog, and luvmy3boyz.... I am also an October 16th bandster and doing pretty good on the fourth day out... I was a little weak today, but I think it was from being on the clear liquid diet and needing something a little more. I had a yogurt smoothie and a bowl of cream of wheat and I feel much better... I haven't had any problems with gas pains and was lucky not to get a sore throat... My throat would get dry and hoarse but that was about it... I only got the nausea feeling once, but I did get the hiccups alot, but a couple sips of Water would take care of that.... I am very pleased with my progress so far and I'm looking forward to a healthier way of life... Good luck and many blessings to all of the October bandsters and keep us posted on your journey...

Hi all, Today was a little rough for me at first, I was real weak and I think it is because of the clear liquid diet, so I had a yogurt smoothie and laid down and took a nice nap.. When I woke I was hungry so I had a bowl of cream of wheat and it went down real nicely and I have felt alot better since then... I am pretty much off of the pain meds except for nighttime and that is so I can sleep.... My throat was never really sore, but it was very dry and I would get real hoarse from it... I had plenty of gas and fortunately I never had any of the bad gas pains that some of the others have had, I just rooted and tooted a lot... I do have a slight allergy to the bandages on my incisions.... It is red and itchy along the edges and have little blisters, so I am cutting off the corners of the bandages until I go see the Dr next week and hopefully he will take them off.... Good Luck and Get Well Wishes to all of the newly banded...

I have the same problem that ellemay has in that mine are itchy and red. I have cut off the corners where the redness is, but they have blistered and are scabby... My incisions look ok and I called the Dr office and told them that I have an allergy to the bandages and they suggested that I get Benadryl Cream and put on them...

Hello everyone..... Thank you all for the kind thoughts and well wishes you have sent my way.... I became a member of bandland on Tuesday the 16th and everything went very well and I'm feeling very good.... Everyone at Crown Point Surgery Center are the greatest, they treated me like a Queen and of course Dr K is the absolute best!!! I have been pretty tired, but I think that is from the pain medication. I have been up and walking around alot and haven't had much of a problem with gas, however I have had bouts with the hiccups.. I just take a couple of sips of water and that seems to take care of it.... Dr K sent me home with some oxygen and wants me to stay on it for a couple more days.... Other than that I am feeling pretty darn good.... I'm still on clear liquids and so far it hasn't been to bad.... It was great meeting want2be and Mare at the Red Robin Monday night..... want2be had a camera and took a few pictures, I hope she can figure out how to post them.... So sorry that some of you couldn't make it, we were looking forward to meeting you all... Mare..... Many wishes and safe travels to you as you get ready for your trip to Mexico....

Hello everyone... Thought I would check in... I am on my 3rd day after banding and feel pretty good... I have been tired, but I think that is from the pain meds I am taking.... The incisions hurt a little bit, especially where the port is... I have been doing lots of clear liquids, like Swanson's Chicken Broth, Water with Crystal Light, Special K Protein Water and diluted Cranberry Juice.... So far I haven't been too hungry and have been up and walking around alot to get the gas out of my system... I have been having bouts with hiccup's and I take a sip of water and that seems to help... My Dr said that all went well and my liver looked good since I had lost 10 lbs on the pre-op diet.... The Dr was thinking about keeping me overnight because of my low oxygen levels caused from my emphysema, but he sent me home with oxygen and wants me to stay on it 24/7 for the next couple of days.... I really feel pretty good and feel a lot better than I thought I would... The surgery was breeze and everyone at the surgery center treated me like a Queen.... The Dr and his staff are the greatest people, I very highly recommend him.... Hi Everyone, I have finally made it to Denver from California... I will be there at the RR on Monday night.... What time are we supposed to meet?? I will be banded on Tuesday, so I may not be eating much, but I just want to meet all of you that can come.... want2beme..... Are you planning on driving back over the mountain on Monday night or are you going to stay overnight?

Hello everyone..... I'm still on the road and should be in Denver on Saturday evening the 13th for my surgery on the 16th.... Dynamo and Mal..... Could we make arrangements for Red Robin on the 15th when want2beme and I can attend? I have my pre-op appoinment with Dr K at 2:00pm and the 15th and want2beme will be in town for her first fill.... I think both of us would like to attend.... Longhorn and Tied2BeFit.... Welcome to the Dr K thread.... This is the best thread around as well as having the best Dr around.... :biggrin1: I see that you are having a cold front come through and could possibly snow up in the high country.... I sure hope that it passes and stays nice for awhile so that want2be and I can make it over the mountain on dry roads.... I am watching the weather channel daily.... Thank you again for the list.... I'm sorry I haven't been around lately to give much support to all of the newly banded and soon to be banded, but DH and I are on the road working our way to Denver...
