Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
nicnaknut replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Shelbi.. Congratulations on your band date on 8/22. Sounds like you have a pretty tight schedule. Hopefully all will go well for you. Marcy... Sorry to hear that you are having some pretty bad pain. Is is from your incision at the port sight or is it those phantom gas pains that I've heard about? Dynamo... I too have got to be working on the food consumption lifestyle change. I have been trying to train myself to chew, chew, chew before swallowing, which is not an easy thing to do on a consistant basis. -

Ok everyone.. Drum Roll Please!!!! :clap2: It is official.. I am scheduled for my LB surgery with Dr K on October 16th... Yea!!!! I called and talked to Marilyn and she was so kind and understanding and worked with me on the scheduling.. I'm so thankful to you Mark for recommending him to me in another thread I started. I was originally thinking of going to Mexico and Mark replied with a link to Dr K's web site as another option to check into... ty, ty, ty vm... Thank you Woofay and Mal for the warm welcome to the Dr K. groupie. I am happy to join the band wagon. Hello to everyone else and it is a pleasure to meet you all. Thanks Marcy for your encouragement in our emails. Woofay, Mal and Dynamo.. Do you live in the Denver area? If so, I am from Colorado and will be staying in Denver through Thanksgiving and would like to meet you in person. Again nice to meet you all. -
Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
nicnaknut replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Thanks marcy for the info. I am just concerned that the shoulder thing might be more than just the left over gas from surgery. I think I'm worrying too soon and I think I'm spending too much time reading posts to this web site.... lol Also, I hope I did the ticker factory thing right and it shows up.. Thanks again for your reply. -

Hey friends, this is a silly question, but I would like to put my ruler up from the ticker factory and I don't know how to do it. Could someone give me instructions. I can cut and paste but I don't know where to c&p it to. Thanks -

I have a quick question for Dr K's patients. How many of you have had the left shoulder pain that I have heard about? I have heard that it can be very, very painful and could be the result of a pinched nerve from the band. -
Has anyone had the surgery in Mexico?
nicnaknut posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello, I am a 59 year old Newbie in California and just getting started on my journey to Lapbanding. I do not have any insurance and cannot afford to have it done in the United States, so I am wondering if anyone has had the surgery done in Mexico? If you have where at in Mexico (Tiajuana or Monterrey) and where do you go for fills when needed? Do United States doctors assist when it was done in Mexico? Thank you all in advance of any help you can give me... -

I want to thank everyone who posted to my thread. I appreciate all of your help and letting me know about your experiences. I have finally decided to go to Denver and have Dr Kirshenbaum do my surgery. Thanks marjon for the referral and web link. I figured it would be much easier to go there since I am from Colorado and give me the opportunity to see all my family and friends. So, thanks again to all of you. -
Hi nume130, I understand about your other angers. I am the same way.The intimacy thing is just a part of it. After all 12 years without any kind of affection, it tends to bring on all kinds of anger and depression. I am so tired of being fat, angry and depressed. I am missing out on so much in life with things the way they are right now. I can hardly wait to get banded and at least get my weight under control.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
nicnaknut replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Everyone, I like many others was planning on going to Mexico for LB surgery, then someone suggested Dr K. in Denver and since I am from Colorado I looked into Dr K. I also have been watching this thread for a few days and since everyone has good things to say about him and his staff I decided to go with Dr K. I called and talked to Marilyn this morning and tentatively set a date for 9/18, but I think I will call back and change it to the end of October. Thanks for letting me read all of your encouraging words about Dr K and helping me make up my mind to call him instead of going to Mexico. I will let you know what date in October I finally decide on. -
Sex, intimacy, cuddling, what's that?? It has been 12 years (yep, years) since our last sexual encounter, so I have just worked my way into fatland. I can tell you that I have built up alot of anger from all of the rejections and not tonight's, that even if he offered it to me on a silver platter I would walk away. I've lost all interest and desire. Sorry, I don't mean to sound harsh. Just frustrated. Thank you all for letting me vent.

Breast cancer/tram flap reconstruction
nicnaknut replied to SandyB's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations Sandy on being a breast cancer survivor!! I really don't have an answer to your question, but my suggestion would be to contact a plastic surgeon, possibly one that does surgery after weight loss or perhaps talk to your lapband Dr. They may be able to advise you if the mesh may be compromised.. Good Luck. -
I am also thinking about Mexico Dr's as well. However someone has told me about Dr Kirshenbaum in Denver, he charges a little more than most Dr's in Mexico but he is in the US which may or may not be a plus. His fees are $9950. I'm from Colorado and currently in California, so it would work out for me. but I just wanted to give you another option to look at. www.lapbandrockies.com

Has anyone had the surgery in Mexico?
nicnaknut replied to nicnaknut's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Becca, Thanks so much for your note because I found the website on Dr. Rodriguez in Monterrey and was very impressed with the information I was able to get from it. Actually between the two Monterrey and Tijuana, I was looking more at going to Monterrey. I just wanted to find someone who had been there to find out how their experience was, so thank you again for your information. I would like to communicate with you further on this, but I'm new this this forum and don't know how to PM you.. My email addy is nicnaknut@aol.com . Would like to hear from you... Congratulations on your band and wishes for good health and weight loss. Regards, nicnaknut -

Hi marjon, Thank you so much for the info on the Denver doctor... I will definately look into it because I am from Colorado. I lived in the Denver area most of my life and moved to the Grand Junction area in 1985. I still have kids, grandkids and other relatives there so this would be a great place to go and have it done. I am so happy to hear that there is a doctor in the US that does not charge an arm and a leg especially when you don't have any insurance... I would like to hear from you on how you are doing now that you are 6 months post banding... Thanks again for the info and happy weight loss.... Kind Regards, nicnaknut
