The Slow Losers Thread
Truckerchic replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all, I do believe I am gonna be a slow loser also...Im going on 5 weeks and have lost 22, I did stall for about a week. Because of my job I have a few more challenges which I feel will slow me a bit but I know I will get there but more important than the scale I feel wonderful! -
You will also want to use some type of food logging app or website...my fitness pal, lose it, spark people etc...much easier to keep track of your protein and water intake

Pre-Op Creating New Habits
Truckerchic replied to teacherlady2133's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The 5 to 6 meals does take some getting use to, I think a lot of us are use to eating 1 maybe 2 meals a day...family. work this and that food was the last thing on the list lol when I started this I set my alarm after each "meal" after a few months it was easier and I wasnt as hungry ...my next issue became the last meal syndrome lol Now set my alarm to remind me to eat cause I dont feel hungry and its easy to lose track of time next thing I know day is almost over and I haven't reached my goals -
Did you try sugar free pumpkin pie or regular? Im only a month out so I had no pie but plan on making a sugar free pumpkin for christmas so I can maybe have a sliver lol

Pre-Op Creating New Habits
Truckerchic replied to teacherlady2133's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 1 month out today....you will not be hungry for awhile so those habits of eating when bored or watching tv kinda go away quickly because you have to force yourself just to get in what you need....one thing I say work on which you have heard from the start...slow down your eating, putin your fork down between bites, be aware of your bites and try to take smaller ones. Your body will tell you after when your going to fast but save yourself the pain and practice now...good luck on your journey!! -
O at least you get a meal! I had 3 shakes a day but was able to have cream of chicken soup, and yogurt. I also got unjury chicken soup to help break up the sweet and have something warm.....eye on the prize your almost there!

It is weird how some people and families deal with weight, almost like because they are living it and not looking in, its like they have no clue what they are doing wrong. I dated a guy once with diabetes, we went to his parents for dinner all thru dinner his mom lectured him on how he needs to control it but at the same time telling him to eat more potatoes and they make pie....I finally had to speak up and told her she was part of his problem to stop feeding him...she looked at me with bewilderment ...that was a short relationship lol

1 Month Out- Having A Tough Time
Truckerchic replied to Chelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you reaching your protein goals and staying hydrated? I am almost 4 weeks out and average 88 grams of protein a day....went back to work at 2 weeks (12 to 14 hour days) was pretty pooped but this past week has been better. Water even with crystal light at room temp hurts a bit and I think today was the first day my tummy isnt tender to touch. If you get feeling to bad or not able to get liquids in be sure to let your doctor know right away, we all heal different but better to make quick call and be safe -
Im so glad my doctor never told me what weight I should it to or where my weight should be at a certain time..he simply said follow the plan and your body will do what it is suppose to do..thats it no timeline no stress... Anyways sounds like your pretty active and doing great, might be time to bump up a few calories maybe an extra protein a day to shake it up a bit but your not done losing...just one of many stalls Keep up the good work!

I Need Some Encouragment During My Pre-Op Diet
Truckerchic replied to Porchue08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your up coming surgery but sorry to hear you will be alone. One tip get one of those grabbing things, you know the ones they show on tv for reaching things up high or behind things...they are only about 10 bucks at walmart but you will not be able to bend over or stretch should you drop anything lol came in very handy -

Yup first 3 days are the hardest and by your last 3 you will be lucky if you get 3 shakes a day in lol I was not hungry at all my second week and I lost 15 lbs which was nice! I was so excited to do my pre op because I knew the big day was near finally, that kept me motivated. -
Best Hot Cocoa Protein Drink
Truckerchic replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Protein powders will do that when you heat above 140 -
I totally understand, my first time trying was in 2005, again in 2009 and finally in January of this year our company got new insurance that covered it but had to do the 6 month thing..I started Jan 16 and almost 11 months later finally got surgery lol this has been a long year and would have liked to avoided the jumping thru hoops but at least I knew the prize would be worth it.

If you like the chews there is one company that makes calcium citrate..celebrate vitamins...you can get a sample but the are tastey and my doctor and NUT recommended them
-
Good luck! Just know a lot of us had to do the 6 month diet so if you luck out and dont have to do it awesome but if you should look at it as a positive and a good time to prepare....keep us updated!
-
My hubby and I tried to get our own insurance just for the purpose of getting me the surgery....when doing it on your own you have to fill out health questions ...we got turned down because he smokes and my bmi was to high..go figure..3 years later our employer switched in new insurance and thankfully it was covered! Good luck

As your sitting there drinking think how good you will look and feel soon, its a mind game at this point stay focused on the prize!

Up And Down Weight Loss
Truckerchic replied to elli'smommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like your doing great and congrats on a awesome loss this far, you may need to up your calories a bit with those work outs your doing...your eating 800 but your body is not absorbing 800 so you may be in starvation mode, just increasing a bit could make a difference ...keep up the great work!
