Truckerchic replied to Chylyn7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Depends on what your new job is? Doctor recommend no lifting for ten days. Other than that being tired was main thing I dealt with -
Miralax also was my go to one dose every other day kept me regular, if I forgot oh man lol after year one I started adding more fruit and veggies and very rarely have to use miralax

Question about waiting periods/pre-op requirements
Truckerchic replied to geoblonde's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I looked into out of pocket they did not require anything, but the surgeon I ended up going to all patients had to do everything whether insurance or paying. But since your a revision I wouldn't think you would have to go thru it all again. Do you have a surgeon yet? -
Who's feeling/ felt starved during the liquids stage?
Truckerchic replied to bringingsexyback1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's head hunger, for me my new tummy was saying yeah I'm full, but my mind was like omg I've only have 2 bites I need more. You may not even realize your full because your tummy is still numb that's why it's important to measure and follow your plan. This feeling will go away over the next few weeks. I had RNY so my old tummy was grumbling which made my head do even more omg I'm starving moments lol congrats on your journey! -
Year and half out and I've had many "got to get refocused" times surgery changes our tummy, our demons and habits pop back up if we don't stay focused. Good thing is every day is a new day to make the best choices we can! Great job and don't be to rough on yourself

I'm year and half out and do between 800 and 1000, so 400 to 500 is good at your stage
-
Yes this is ok and normal, right now you want to focus on protein and liquids over the course of the year you will work your calories up but as long as your following your plan, eating the right foods your body is getting everything it needs

Truckerchic replied to thisisforme2013's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm from PA, State College had surgery at Geisinger in Danville but I had RNY so guess I need to find another group ???????? lol -
Wanted sleeve. Help me believe RNY is better.
Truckerchic replied to Gemini216's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was on the fence between the two, after talking to my doctor we decided on RNY because of it having the longest track record and I had GERD. I have arthritis and am working with my doctor on meds still as I am a truck driver so that also limits my med choices but for the most part Tylenol works. I was worried about malabsorption also but take good bariatric vitamins, cost a bit more but piece of mind is worth it. My labs have been great. I am year and half out with no issues, I can eat whatever I want without dumping and reach my protein goals. Do research, press your doctor for more info, you need to be comfortable with your choice. Good luck -
Barimelts, bariatric melts they have a full line of vitamins and Celebrate Vitamins have a variety of forms, drink mix, soft chews chewable, quick dissolve capsule all designed for wls

Hair falling out/ loose skin?
Truckerchic replied to Brookea83's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am 45 about a year and half out, I have lost 110 lbs. Hair loss...it will happen for some a lot others a little, there is no magic formula to prevent it. I took biotin a year before hand and every day since, I have gotten 60 to 100 grams of protein a day since week 2. I started losing hair around month 3 and it didn't slow until month 10 but at the same time I was getting new growth. It was more of a thinning not notable chunks, my husband only really noticed when I pointed it out. Loose skin, I think genetics and age plays a role in this, drinking your water and doing some toning will help, some will shrink up others will not depending on the elasticity in your skin. I am a truck driver and have gotten no exercise, I'm not tone by any means but I don't have a lot of hanging skin. I plan on changing jobs this summer so I can get fit and I know I will tone right up, not to say a couple areas don't need plastics. Good luck -
Am I doomed to fail? Is the sleeve right for me?
Truckerchic replied to OldMomOf3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How do you feel after you eat denser protein like meats? I do believe most eat 5 to 6 times a day ( at least I do) small meals about 3-4 hours apart this keeps hunger at bay -
Question for the slow losers
Truckerchic replied to AuriP's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Fast or slow, sometimes our goals we have in mind are not what our bodies want and may always be a struggle. I learned to let go of the scale and a number. I am focused more on changing my relationship with food and since this is a lifelong process my goal is to be healthy no matter what the scale says -
I had bypass 5 small incisions I can't even find them now lol
-
These are all normal feelings, it's a major life change and our emotions are all over the place. As you heal and get your energy back you will start to feel differently. Food has been a huge part of our lives and it still will be just in a different healthier way but you will more than likely be able to eat the things you love again just in small controlled way. It kinda reminded me of giving birth during labor I was like no way never again than you forget that pain because your enjoying your gift. It will get better

Sleeve or Lap Band? Scared of making wrong choice!
Truckerchic replied to KS123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Depending on your health issues your surgeon may advise you to the better choice, I was on the fence between RNY and the sleeve, because I had Gerd and the history of the bypass he suggested it but the choice was still mine. The band was never an option for me because I felt it would be easier to cheat (food addict here another issue) also like gahannagal said the band is soon to be a thing of the past, my doctor won't touch a banded person and I also hear a lot of ppl that go from the band to the sleeve or bypass. Choice is ultimately yours though. Good luck -
I still haven't made it to Memphis lol so far 9 hours to get across Arkansas. Thankfully I keep my cooler packed with yummy protein!
