I'm a wife to a wonderful man, mom to a 21 son, a step mom to a 17 son, and grandmother to a very special little fellow named Cayden.
I have been heavy for as long as I can remember, but mostly happy with myself. In 2007 I found out I had diabetes. It wasn't the end of the world for me. I controled it some what with pills. Then I had to start insulin. At first I hated it because I hate needles. But got over that soon because I could still eat what I wanted. Last year I decided I wanted to live longer for my grandson. So I started taking better care of myself and lost 30 pounds, came off insulin and was able to control my diabetes with pills once again. Now I've gained back 7 pounds of those 30. I was seeing a doctor just for adipex and it was not helping with the weight loss. One day I was on my insurance website and I just happened to see that I had bariatric coverage!!! That was the turning point for me. I called my insurnance and sure enough I do have coverage. So I went to my seminar in July. Had my doctor appointment in August and as of today the only step left for me is one last weigh in and the cardio clearance. Both of those will happen this Friday. (Oh forgot to mention I now take high blood pressure pills to)
So this is where my story is at today. I am blessed because I have 2 insurance coverages and they both will cover this for me. I have already scheduled my surgery for November even though I could have it done sooner but work is crazy here in October. I've been trying to get my head where it needs to be, but I have realized as it's becoming more a reality I am scared. I first wanted the sleeve. But after consulting with my doctor I realize the bypass is really what I need to put my diabetes in remission and hopefully get off the blood pressure meds.
