OMG October 2013 Post-ops
kkelly37 replied to DevilBlueDress's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So I'm only 9 days out but everything hit me today. I'm already down 18 pounds and I feel amazing. I'm finally starting to feel like I have a future. I'm only 23 and I've not been looking at the future because I wasn't sure how much of one I had. The way I see everything changed today. Looking at my little boy made me tear up. He's getting so big and so smart and now he's going to get to grow up with a normal mommy. I even took him trick or treating before his daddy got off work and continued with them for an hour once he joined us! I just feel so full of life already!!! <3 down 16 pounds since surgery October 22, 2013!!!! -
I see my surgeon tomorrow but i just wanted to know when everyone felt comfortable doing it. I think he will clear me tomorrow down 16 pounds since surgery October 22, 2013!!!!

How long after surgery did you start doing simple cardio like the treadmill?? I'm a week out today and I know I'm not quite ready. I think I will be soon but I'd like to know when some of you started.

Any October surgeries out there...
kkelly37 replied to debbiedenise's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah she came and switched me nurses and everything. Dr tanner is defiantly on it. Before I could even finish telling him what was going on he was pushing my call button yelling at the nurse who answered. -

And I needed to stay an extra day because of that time frame with no meds. -

I'm doing good today. Yesterday dr tanner had to go off on by nurse. I went three hours with no IV so I had no pain meds or nausea meds. I went to my X-ray with no meds. When he came in and saw that I had no working IV he was very angry. -

How many nights did you stay in the hospital?
kkelly37 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm trying to get my child care set up for next week after my surgery so I am trying to get an idea of how many nights I will be in the hospital. My hubby wants to stay with me so we have to rely on family to watch our 3 year old at night. I am young and healthy and I recovered from a c-section from my belly button down very quickly. I was up walking that day. Any ideas on how many nights I'll stay? -

Why do they tell us not to drink whilst eating?
kkelly37 replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It makes food go down faster which will make you not feel full as long. -
why are there so many "different" requirements
kkelly37 replied to nervous2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's mostly insurance. All my surgeon required was an egd done by him to look for possible complications and obgyn to be put on birth control (and a promise not to get preggo for. 2 years lol). My insurance required approval from cardiology, Pulmonary, a leg ultrasound, a sleep study, and a letter from my pcp. It had nothing to do with age or condition, insurance just required it. I'm only 23 and have never smoked, not diabetic, no family history of sleep apnea... My insurance just required all the tests for everyone. Which dosent make sense because that's more money out of their pocket but that's how it is. -

I'm also a week out and starting to get completely stressed. I also work full time. I feel like I have to have my house perfect for while I'm Gone and when I get home. My hubby wants to stay at the hospital with me so I have to make a schedule for our son and all that good stuff! It gets stressful! -

What should I expect in the process?
kkelly37 replied to ReaRaes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I attended a required seminar in late august and then had a meeting at the weight loss center. Sept 3rd I met with my surgeon. He sent me for all the testing my insurance requires. Within 2 weeks I had appts with a cardiologist, pulminologist, a sleep study, my pcp, had blood work, and had an ultrasound of my legs. Once all of the drs submitted approval letters, my insurance paper work was submitted. While waiting on approval, my surgeon did an upper GI to rule out possible complications. My insurance took about a week to approve me and my surgery was scheduled for less than three weeks later. I have a 1500 calorie diet for the last two weeks before surgery. I had to do a pre-op class through my local weight loss center and do pre-op tests at the hospital. Now my surgery is 9 days away!! Good luck!! -
Things I will not miss...
kkelly37 replied to terry1118's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a home health CNA. I will not miss new clients looking at me like "how can she take care of me when she obviously can't take care of herself". Or telling my clients Id rather sit in the floor because I am afraid of breaking their furniture. I also will not miss knowing my husband could do better. I won't miss being insecure around his friends and his size 0 and size 4 sisters. -

BCBS of Il 6 month or no 6 month?
kkelly37 replied to healthydreams68046's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have bcbsil and I don't have to pay anything at all and I do not have the waiting period. I was approved after a month. Every plan is different. Depends on what your employer sets up. -
I am dealing with what my dr calls last supper syndrome. I start my preop diet tomorrow and I've been eating everything in sight this weekend!! I'm sending my hubby out for one last good meal for supper. Has anyone else done this before preop diet??
-
I don't even have a liquid diet.
-
I start my preop diet tomorrow. My surgeon has already told me that I have an abnormally small liver.
