I use Celebrate calcium citrate Chews in berry flavor. They also come in carmel or chocolate. I take two 3x a day and they are good tasting. I know of individuals that use Calcium Citrate Chews from costco which come in carmel or chocolate. I have in the past used the Celebrate Citrate Chewable Tablets in cherry tart and those were good too. Celebrate makes one more Calcium Citrate a Soft Chew and those are good also. I was also told by my surgeon and nutritionist that my Vitamins had to be chewables except for Vitamin D3 and Omega 3. With bypass you have a better absorption with chewables.

Recently Lost a Best Friend Because of My Decision to Get Bariatric Surgery
Chelly replied to Sharon C.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sharon welcome to your journey to a new, healthier, and happy life. That woman that put you on her blog is self centered and hateful in her thinking. She is so unaware of what WLS is all about. If she did she wouldn't attack it. You are doing the very best thing for yourself in doing this surgery. I had sleep apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver, Gerds and happy to say that these things have gone away because I had the gastric bypass. I'm am personally proud of you for wanting to improve your well being. Congratulations on your decision. Take care of yourself and be happy. Good luck on your journey and upcoming surgery. -
how to lose 20 lbs before surgery ?
Chelly replied to komi31's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What is in your protein bars? How much carbs and how much sugar? I use Quest Protein Bars. They are made with Stevia. They come in many flavors. High in fiber, low sugar, gluten free, no GMO. 20 or 21 grams of protein. I also use Jay Robb Whey Protein powder for make my shakes. They are very good tasting and they are smooth. They are made with Stevia. Come in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry or one or two other flavors. 25 grams of protein in each serving. Sugar free almond milk works well with the protein powder and it adds more protein to the shake. I also use Torani sugar free syrups in my protein shakes. They are made with Splenda and come in many, many flavors. Quest Bars can be bought from GNC, directly from the company, Amazon, or eBay. Jay Robb can be bought at a Whole Foods or I buy it from Amazon. Torani sugar free syrups can be bought directly from the company or World Market if you have one in your area. Good luck wit your upcoming surgery. -

How did you first learn about weight loss surgery?
Chelly replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The subject was suggested to me years ago by my doctor but I wasn't open to it at all. I didn't really consider it until last year when someone I know had the sleeve done and was very successful that I thought it was time for me to do it. I haven't regretted it since I had the gastric bypass last year. I'm so much more healthier then I have been in many, many years. I would recommend surgery to any one who wants it. -
My new life has started!
Chelly replied to JodiePaige's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Paige to a new chapter in your life. You have taken the first step for a healthier better you. Don't let anyone deter you on this journey. Follow all of your surgeons and nutritionist guidelines and you'll do wonderful. I am a firm believer in not going on the scale everyday. If you want to weigh yourself at home do it once a week wearing the same thing at the same time of day. You take care and come here often for support and questions. -
I really like the Torani sugar free syrups. I have tried Gingerbread, Carmel, and Peppermint and they were all great. I will have to try your trick with the sugar free pudding.

When you get two weeks out you will start your Vitamins and really start to feel better. Make sure you are getting in your Water and Protein. Lack of those will cause lack of energy. Remember you just had major surgery and it takes your body awhile to adjust. I do recommend that every hour or two you get up and move around because it will help with pain and healing. Feel stronger every day.

Getting so frustrated... starting to become depressed
Chelly replied to Marathongirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing wonderful in losing weight. You should be giving yourself a lot of credit for how far you have come. In losing weight your meds might need adjusting for your bipolar. I would check on that if you are having trouble with your mood. I know for my depression I had to have my meds adjusted because of the weight lose. I also agree that you might not be taking in enough calories because of all the exercising. Take to your nutritionist or surgeons office about adjustments to your plan. Remember you've come a great distance in a short time in losing and maybe your body is just saying let me have a breather and I'll start working again in dropping the weight. Take care. -
That sounds yummy to do. I use Jay Robb whey Protein powder and it has no grit or after taste. It blends real smooth. I also use Torani sugar free syrups in my shakes. They are wonderful, made with Splenda and come in many, many flavors. I buy them direct from the company or if you have World Market in your area they carry them too.

I have only one regret and that is that I didn't do this when I was younger. I have had nothing but relief from a lot of medical problems. I function so much better with my weight lose. I think that with any surgery there are risks but with WLS they now a days they are minimal to happen. Best of luck with your up coming surgery.

Need advise thinking of getting the sleeve
Chelly replied to mscandy4you's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was going to do the sleeve originally but my gastric doctor told me my GERDS would get worse if I did so I had the bypass on his recommendation. I don't regret it at all. I have had no real problems with it and I'm healthier then I have been in years. The final decision is yours but if getting rid of GERDS is your objective then I say bypass for sure. -
I lost 40 lbs before surgery and I was a diabetic also. From the day of surgery I've been off diabetic meds and have an A1C when last checked of 4.7. So it can be done. Good luck tomorrow and you'll be fine.

Depression and Bariatric surgery
Chelly replied to bflblog's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Since my weight loss I just about a month ago was lowered on two of my meds for depression. My doctor is going to take it slow in doing this but said that she probably will not take me off of them completely. So far so good in not feeling any changes in my mood. I say listen to your doctor and see how it goes for you. -
Will I be able to get rid of my CPAP machine?
Chelly replied to Bandista's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I didn't get rid of my CPAP until just recently. I did go for a sleep study to make sure that I could go off of it. I was told that I do better sleeping on my side then when I sleep on my back. So good getting off the machine. My suggestion is have another sleep, study to make sure. Good luck! -
I took my meds right after surgery in pill form and had no problems. I didn't take Vitamins until two weeks after surgery and those are chewables.

Holy Cow! Wasn't expecting this!
Chelly replied to ArcusX's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi John I too was all set to do the sleeve and three weeks before surgery my surgery had to be switched to bypass because of GERDS. I knew very little about gastric bypass and had to take a crash course about it and in the long run it worked out great for me. I am pleased with my gastric bypass. I have had very little problems with it. I hope that everything works out for you. Best of luck with your upcoming surgery. -
Finally broke into triple digits - down 101 lbs after 6.5 months
Chelly replied to BrantS1976's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congratulations it's wonderful...... You've done a terrific thing for yourself. This is special accomplishment. I wish you continued success. -
Shame on him for not being there for you...... Love is suppose to be unconditional no matter how you look or have blips in the battle in the past with weight losing. You're not the disappointment he is by not supporting you. You should be very proud of yourself for making this decision of having the surgery to help you. It's a wonderful thing you are doing so you have brighter future without health issues. I wish you all the best with your surgery.

Welcome Tammy! Congratulations on this new journey to bètter health. This site is great for questions and encouragement. People here are very willing to help or boost you up when you need it. Glad to hear that you are feeling good. Come back often.
-
You look wonderful. Congratulations on a fine job of taking care of yourself. You look really happy.
-
I have never heard of such a thing as that. You either have gastric bypass completely. It sounds troublesome. Having surgery in Mexico doesn't allow you follow up check ups at all. You need to be monitored very closely after surgery by your surgeon and nutritionist. Please think twice about this it just doesn't sound right.

I use Jay Robb whey Protein shakes with stevia. Stevia is from a plant and is not considered an artificial sweetener. Jay Robb comes in strawberry, chocolate, vanilla and I believe two other flavors. You can get it in individual packets at Whole Foods to try it if you want. If it works for you then you can buy it on Amazon and it's the cheapest price in my opinion. I wish you good luck with everything. Also,Quest Bars are màde with stevia and they have 20 or 21 grams of protein. In them. You won't be able to eat them until after three months after surgery but they are good and helpful for getting in your protein.
