    June 10th Bypass Op!

Don't make yourself crazy about the unknown. Try the best you can to relax. You'll do great. These are exciting times for you. You're doing a really great thing for yourself. You're doing this surgery to better your health and that's a wonderful. I'm so glad that I did this surgery for myself. My health has improved immensely. From this surgery I know longer take 3/4 of the meds that I did. My bp is great, no more diabetes, no more sleep apnea, no more high cholesterol. It's so much easier to move around and to walk without lose of breath. I wish you all the luck for your surgery. Come back and let us know how you are doing often. P.S. Your user name is that your name? The reason I ask is I'm a doll collector and your user name is the names of three dolls that were made by a famous doll artist. They were very cute trio. Any ways just curious.

    Very low energy

If you aren't meeting your protein intake it slows down the healing process greatly. You must eat all of your protein. Also lack of protein will cause your hair to fall out more when that happens in month 4, 5 and 6 or sooner. Please start eating all of your protein before you have a real problem. Take care.

    Clear fluids

Yes it does and so do sugar free Popsicles. I use sugar free Bomb Pop Popsicles made with Splenda. They are enjoyable. Take care.
  4. You could try Jay Robb egg white protein powder. It has 24 grams of protein in each serving. You can mix it with unsweetened Almond Milk. That will give you a little more protein. You could use Torani sugar free syrups for flavor and they come in a multitude of flavors. Jay Robb is sold at Whole foods, from the company direct or Amazon. Torani sugar free syrups come from the company direct or if you have World Market stores in your area you can get it there. Take it easy and feel better.
  5. If I understand what happens to the pouch to be correct then the pouch goes from golf ball size to the size of an egg just after six months. So therefore you can eat a little more then you used to. I am eight months out and at times I can eat more then usual and sometimes I can't at all. If you are real concerned then contact your nutritionist about this.

    GERD vs Sleeve

I originally was going to have the sleeve but my gastric doctor told me to have bypass or I would be miserable with problems. The surgeon told me this but until my gastric doctor said something I ignored the warning. In my opinion if you have Gerds don't do the sleeve or lapband. I'm pleased with my bypass.
  7. That's a good idea. Thank you for suggesting it.

    Protein powders

May I suggest egg white Protein powder. Jay Robb has it and it has 25 grams of protein. Also unsweetened almond milk is very good in vanilla. Good luck.
  9. That's crap! If I were you I would go and get it and hand deliver it to your surgeon. This might be out of your way but at least you know it's in their hands then. Good luck with everything.

    IL - Chicago Southwest Suburbs

Hi I'm here too from Illinois. Northern suburbs along the lake.
  11. A problem with your bowels is not uncommon. I had problems with diarrhea for a period of time after surgery. It your body reacting to the changes in it. Some people get the opposite effect with their bowels. Once I got more and more on solids my problem changed. So don't be discouraged it will fix it self. You will become more regular.

    A little down today

Jodie, Don't beat yourself up about this. I still have dreams where I'm stuffing myself with sweets like crazy. I have not had any since surgery but I still think about them unconsciously and sometimes consciously. As long as you stay with your plan of action you'll be fine. Remember the bad foods most likely will make you feel horrible if eaten. If you feel the need for stronger support I suggest talking to a therapist that specializes in food addiction if you can't get these thoughts off your mind. It might make you feel better about what your feeling right now. Hang in there.
  13. Jason congratulations on your decision to get healthier. May I suggest you wear a Depends or something like it just in case you do have an accident. At least if it does happen your clothes won't get ruined. Take it easy and be strong. The best to you on your surgery.
  14. That's absolutely fabulous! Congratulations!

    Non-scale Victory!

    That's awesome!
  16. Hi, This is what I take: Celebrate Calcium Citrate Chews-they come in berry, chocolate or carmel. I take two 3x a day. Nordic Naturals Omega 3 and Vitamin D3. I take two of each 1x a day. Twinlabs Chewable Biotin. Two tablets 1x a day. Costco has B12 in cherry flavor that you put under your tongue for proper absorption. One tablet 1x a week. Flinestones chewable multi vitamins. Two tablets 1x a day. This list is from my nutritionist and surgeons offices according to their guidelines given to me. They feel chewables absorb better. They Omega 3 and D3 are in pill form but they absorb fine that way I was told. Calcium Citrate and multi vitamin can not be taken at the same time I was told. I hope this helps and please make sure that these suggestions meet your surgeons and nutritionists guidelines. Good luck with your upcoming surgery.
  17. You have such a wonderful outlook on this whole process. I congratulate you for all your effort to making a healthier you. You are such an upbeat person and I can wait to see pictures of your progress. Take care.

    super excited

The best to you on your upcoming surgery. Try to stay as relaxed as you possibly can and it will be her before you know it. Be happy for this new chapter in your life to better health.
  19. Why do you have to buy from your surgeon's office? I have not tried either product so I'm sorry I can't answer your question about them. The only whey Protein Powder that I have only used is Jay Robb. It's very good and made with Stevia. You can buy it from Whole Foods if you have that in your area, directly from the company or Amazon. It comes in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and one or two other flavors. I also use Torani sugar free syrups to add flavor to the Protein Shakes. It's made with Splenda. It comes in many, many flavors. You can get it from the company, or if you have World Market in your area they sell it too. You could ask your nutritionist or surgeon if they are allowed on your program they have come up with for you. Good luck on your surgery next month.

    It finally fits!

    You look sensational!
  21. On occasion I eat spicy and have had no problem. I would say that you should wait until you are on solids before attempting to eat it. So that means a few months after surgery. Good luck with the surgery you choose.
  22. I used and still eat sugar free Bomb Pop Popsicles. They are made with Splenda. I really enjoy them. unjury chicken Soup is good at your stage also.

    help!

Do you not like your Protein shakes? I've been using Jay Robb whey Protein powder with Stevia and I really like it. It smooth and not gritty at all. It has 25 grams of protein in each serving and if you use skim milk that will add another 8 grams of protein. I add to it Torani sugar free syrups made with Splenda. They come in many, many flavors. You can buy Jay Robb at Whole Foods, directly from the company or Amazon. You can buy Torani sugar free syrups from the company directly or if you have World Market in your area they carry them too. Good luck in finding something you like.
