Supplements-Vitamin & Minerals
Chelly replied to wyjcole's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As a multi vitamin in use Flinestones Complete chewable. They have a low dosage of iron in them and recommended by my surgeon. I use calcium citrate chews and B12 from Celebrate Vitamins. Vitamin D3 and Ultimate Omega 3 from Nordic Vitamins. I also use Biotin chewable from TwinLabs. -
You have the will and the drive that you will succeed in your endeavors. I believe in you and you will find a lot of support here. Three is your lucky number. The best to you and good luck with your meeting with the new surgeon. Take care.

I also have bad knees plus fibromyalgia, osteo arthritis, stenosis of the spine and a few other things and I know that a good pain specialist can give you patches like Linoderm that you apply to the area for 12 hrs on and 12 hrs off and they will help. There are also other non narcotic ointments that also work. I say again find a very good pain doctor that you can work with. I can like you only take Tylenol for the pain because other arthritic meds are not any good for us any more. They can cause ulcers in our pouch. I hope you can find relief.

Your arrogance is going to get you into trouble. You are being rude to the people here on this board. You want to call yourself a "Fatty" then go right ahead but don't label the people on this board like that. You're going about talking to people here in the wrong manner. If you continue like this someone will report you for being offensive and I don't think you want that to happen. People come here to be encouraged not to be called names. Think about.

Post Op 5 days (RNY) and lifted something too heavy, now what?
Chelly replied to KelliM73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just to give you ease of mind call your surgeons office and tell them what you did and the systems your having. They will be the best judge of what you need to do. Let us know what happens and what they say. Feel better. -
SWIMSUIT SEASON!
Chelly replied to xmarycontraryx's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Try Lands End they go up to 24w and the have swimming shorts and swimming tank tops. Did you try Lane Bryant or Just My Size catalogs? Target goes up to a 24w in bathing suits. At the moment that's all I can think of. Let your computer do some of the work for you. -
I ate a miniature bagel. My first time eating it and it's killing me. I'm so uncomfortable. I guess that is the first and last time I eat those.
-
You're funny Kitt.
My bagel wasn't a grown up one it was a baby bagel so it didn't fit in the toaster to get tanned. LOL
I feel 100% better now.

you're lucky it was a tiny tiny tiny one.....I made the same mistake on what was once one of my main bread sources.....
In any case, I never eat them now because of that very thing.
English muffins, even when toasted, clog my Band up too.
As does wonderfully fresh French/Italian bread.
Thankfully, or I'd be eating lots of it in spite of knowing better.
No bagels with that, please....*kaff*kaff*.....

Insurance help
Chelly replied to phewforaminutethere's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Call UHC and ask them if they have an additional policy that covers WLS and if they do which one of the WLS do they cover. Now about the other insurance company call the representative and ask them what WLS they cover. They might cover one and not another so ask. Very important. From that information that you get you make your decision of what to do. Good luck. -
This could be fluids from your IV still in your body that hasn't passed. I would call your surgeons office tomorrow first thing and tell them about. They will have the best answer to your question and what to do. I have question for you now and it is are your legs swollen too? Are they painful? If you answer yes to these questions then I would go to the ER because that could be a serious problem then. Let us know how you are regarding this.

When concerned about something you should call your surgeons office. Now that that's said I will tell you my experience and that is I had loose bowels for the time I got home and until I got more solid foods in me. I know that that's a horrible idea that you might have the same thing but each individual is different and their body reacts differently. So again I will say when concerned ask your surgeons office about it. They will have the best answers. Feel better.

I know about diverticulitis because my mom suffered from it. These are things you have to stay away from which are seeds so no berries even if they are tiny the seeds. Popcorn, nuts, poppy seeds, sesame seeds. As you know now it is extremely painful if something gets caught in your colon. What I listed I'm sure they already told you about. Call your surgeon right away and tell them that you've been diagnosed with this and see what they say. My guess is there won't be a problem but I'm certainly not a doctor. Feel better, good luck and let us know what your surgeon tells you.

For those of you that want flavored coffee you can add Torani sugar free syrups to it. They come in a multitude of flavors. You can buy them directly from the company which I think is the easiest or they do sell them at World Market if you have on in your area also Amazon and eBay have them but charge more then retail which is $7.95 approximately. This is just a suggestion. I use the syrups in my protein shakes and my niece uses them in her coffee even though she doesn't need sugar free. We both really enjoy them.

In hospital. Very uncomfortable. What have I done?
Chelly replied to katie1967's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
The first day after surgery I was totally out of it. The next day I got up several times to go to the bathroom and walk the halls of the unit. I was in the hospital for four days total because I had a hard time getting fluids down but each day it got a little easier and by day four I got enough in to go home. So my advise is walk to help get rid of that nasty gas pain as much as you can there and at home also take in the fluids that they want you to have so you don't get dehydrated. Must do this at home too or you'll wind up back there. Also take the pain meds as needed to help. It gets easier I swear. Feel better and stay well. -
Carbonation is BAD!!! Alcohol might not feel like it's effecting you but the alcohol registers in your blood and breathilizer as if you are drunk if you drink to much. So my suggestion is your stay away from it.

Hello, I'm 4 days post op, new to group. (Gastric bypass patient)
Chelly replied to KelliM73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi and welcome. Congratulations on having this surgery and making the choice to a healthier you. I have a suggestion to pick up the flavor of your protein shakes but ask your nutritionist if it's okay with them to use. I use Torani sugar free syrups in my shakes. They come in a multitude of flavors. You can get them directly from the company which I think is the easiest way. I also use PB2 peanut butter powder or PB2 chocolate peanut butter powder. You can get this at Target or the grocery store. For the gas pain walk as much as you can a few times a day that will help also ask your surgeon if you can use Gas X stripes that melt on your tongue. They helped me and still do for that occasional problem. Feel good and be well. The best to you on your journey. -
If I get constipated I use Miralax. It works wonders. I know am eating more fruit and vegetables and it's made me regular. Try eating more of those a few times a day and see what happens. Feel better.
-
For now just walk that's it as many times a day you can. It will help release gas and help you eliminate fluids built up from the IV. Drinking your water and clear fluids will help with eliminating those excess fluids too. Don't start any working out until your surgeon gives you the okay. Your body needs time to heal and for you to get your strength back. Feel good and remember to take it slowly.

When can I start working out after pos sleeve
Chelly replied to Tubby1234's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I agree you must talk to your surgeon about this. I started the treadmill and elliptical two weeks after surgery real slow. Stay away from heavy lifting or you will cause major problems until your surgeon gives the okay. In the hospital they will get you walking a few times a day and they will want you to continue that as much as you can at home. It helps rid your body of gas that builds up from the stuff they use to put you out and inflate your stomach, also the fluids move out of your body faster from the IV. Good luck with your surgery and recovery. -
I showered when I got home from the hospital and had to use anti bacterial soap for the first month. I had to wash very carefully.

Pre-op clear liquid diet
Chelly replied to musickcl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask your surgeon what they consider clear liquids so you know exactly what to have. When I had surgery had to do two weeks of only protein shakes. I had also lost more then they required me to so that's one of the reasons I didn't have to do clear liquids before hand. Good luck you'll be fine. -
You are a strong soul and you will get to where you want to go. You have done fabulous do to the set backs you have incurred. I wish you continue success.

I use Flinestones complete for a multi. You chew two as an adult. I use Celebrate soft calcium citrate chews. They make several different flavors. I have also used the Celebrate berries and cream or cherry tart calcium 500 plus calcium citrate. Good luck in finding something you like.
